And it
shall be
for a sign
unto thee
upon thine hand,
and for a memorial
between thine eyes,
that the LORD's law
may be
in thy mouth:
for with a strong hand
hath the LORD brought thee
out of Egypt.
And the LORD
said
unto Moses, Lo,
I come unto thee
in a thick cloud,
that the people
may hear
when
I speak
with thee,
and believe thee
for ever.
And Moses
told
the words
of the people
unto the LORD.
And Moses
came
and told
the people all
the words
of the LORD,
and all
the judgments:
and all
the people
answered
with one voice,
and said,
All the words
which the LORD
hath said
will we do.
And Moses
wrote all
the words
of the LORD,
and rose up early
in the morning,
and builded
an altar
under the hill,
and twelve pillars,
according to
the twelve tribes
of Israel.
Ye shall not add
unto the word
which I
command you,
neither shall
ye diminish ought
from it,
that ye
may keep
the commandments
of the LORD your God
which I
command you.
Behold,
I have taught
you statutes
and judgments,
even as
the LORD my God
commanded me,
that ye
should do so
in the land
whither
ye go
to possess it.
Keep therefore
and do them;
for this
is your wisdom
and your understanding
in the sight
of the nations,
which shall hear all
these statutes,
and say,
Surely
this great nation
is a wise
and understanding people.
And
what nation
is there so great,
that hath statutes
and judgments so righteous
as all this law,
which I set
before you this day?
Specially the day
that thou
stoodest before the LORD
thy God in Horeb,
when the LORD
said unto me,
Gather me
the people
together,
and
I will make them
hear my words,
that they
may learn
to fear me all
the days
that they
shall live
upon the earth,
and
that they
may teach
their children.
And the LORD
commanded me
at that time
to teach
you statutes
and judgments,
that ye
might do them
in the land
whither
ye go over
to possess it.
And these words,
which I
command thee
this day,
shall be
in thine heart:
And
thou shalt teach them
diligently unto thy children,
and shalt talk
of them
when thou
sittest in thine house,
and when thou
walkest by the way,
and
when
thou liest down,
and
when
thou
risest up.
And
thou shalt bind them
for a sign
upon thine hand,
and they
shall be
as frontlets
between thine eyes.
And
thou shalt write them
upon the posts
of thy house,
and on thy gates.
And
he humbled thee,
and suffered
thee to hunger,
and fed thee
with manna,
which thou
knewest not,
neither did
thy fathers know;
that he
might make
thee know
that man
doth not live
by bread only,
but by every
word that
proceedeth
out of the mouth
of the LORD
doth man live.
And it
shall be,
when
he sitteth upon the throne
of his kingdom,
that he
shall write him
a copy of this
law
in a book out of that which
is before the priests
the Levites:
And it
shall be with him,
and
he shall read therein all
the days
of his life:
that he
may learn
to fear the LORD
his God,
to keep all the words
of this law
and these statutes,
to do them:
And it
shall be
on the day
when ye
shall pass
over Jordan
unto the land
which the LORD thy God
giveth thee,
that thou
shalt set thee
up great stones,
and plaister them
with plaister:
And
thou shalt write
upon them all
the words
of this law,
when
thou art
passed over,
that thou
mayest go in
unto the land
which the LORD thy God
giveth thee,
a land that
floweth with milk
and honey;
as the LORD God
of thy
fathers
hath promised thee.
And
thou shalt write
upon the stones all the words
of this law
very plainly.
The secret things
belong
unto the LORD our God:
but those things which
are revealed
belong
unto us and
to our children
for ever,
that we
may do all
the words
of this law.
For this commandment
which I
command thee
this day,
it is not hidden
from thee,
neither is it
far off.
It is not
in heaven,
that thou
shouldest say,
Who shall go up
for us
to heaven,
and bring it
unto us,
that we
may hear it,
and do it?
Neither is it
beyond the sea,
that thou
shouldest say,
Who shall go over
the sea
for us,
and bring it
unto us,
that we
may hear it,
and do it?
But the word
is very nigh
unto thee,
in thy mouth,
and in thy heart,
that thou
mayest do it.
And Moses
wrote this law,
and delivered it
unto the priests
the sons of Levi,
which bare
the ark
of the covenant
of the LORD,
and
unto all
the elders
of Israel.
And Moses
commanded them,
saying,
At the end
of every seven years,
in the solemnity
of the year
of release,
in the feast
of tabernacles,
When
all Israel
is come
to appear before the LORD
thy God
in the place
which he
shall choose,
thou shalt read
this law
before all Israel
in their hearing.
Gather the people
together,
men and women,
and children,
and thy stranger
that is
within thy gates,
that they
may hear,
and that
they may learn,
and fear
the LORD your God,
and observe
to do all the words
of this law:
And
that their children,
which have not known
any thing,
may hear,
and learn
to fear the LORD
your God,
as long as ye
live in the land
whither
ye go over Jordan
to possess it.
Now therefore write
ye this song
for you,
and teach it
the children
of Israel:
put it
in their mouths,
that this song
may be a witness
for me
against the children
of Israel.
And it
shall come
to pass,
when many evils
and troubles
are befallen them,
that this song
shall testify
against them
as a witness;
for it
shall not be forgotten
out of the mouths
of their seed:
for I
know their imagination
which they
go about,
even now,
before I
have brought them
into the land
which I sware.
Take this book
of the law,
and put it
in the side
of the ark
of the covenant
of the LORD your God,
that it
may be there
for a witness
against thee.
This book
of the law
shall not depart
out of thy mouth;
but
thou shalt meditate
therein day and night,
that thou
mayest observe to do
according to all that is written
therein:
for then
thou shalt make
thy way prosperous,
and
then
thou shalt have
good success.
And Joshua
said
unto the children
of Israel,
Come hither,
and hear
the words
of the LORD your God.
And
he wrote there
upon the stones
a copy
of the law
of Moses,
which he
wrote in the presence
of the children of Israel.
And all Israel,
and their elders,
and officers,
and their judges,
stood
on this side the ark
and
on that side
before the priests the Levites,
which bare
the ark
of the covenant
of the LORD,
as well the stranger,
as he
that was born among them;
half of them over against mount Gerizim,
and half
of them over
against mount Ebal;
as Moses the servant
of the LORD
had commanded before,
that they
should bless
the people
of Israel.
And afterward
he read all
the words
of the law,
the blessings
and cursings,
according to all that is written
in the book
of the law.
There was not
a word
of all
that Moses commanded,
which Joshua
read not
before all
the congregation
of Israel,
with the women,
and the little ones,
and the strangers
that were conversant
among them.
As for God,
his way
is perfect;
the word
of the LORD
is tried:
he is a buckler
to all
them that trust
in him.
Be ye mindful
always of his covenant;
the word
which he
commanded
to a thousand generations;
Now for a long season Israel
hath been
without the true God,
and
without a teaching priest,
and
without law.
Receive,
I pray thee,
the law
from his mouth,
and lay up
his words
in thine heart.
Neither have
I gone back
from the commandment
of his lips;
I have esteemed the words
of his mouth
more than my necessary food.
But his delight
is in the law
of the LORD;
and in his law
doth
he meditate
day and night.
The words
of the LORD
are pure words:
as silver
tried in a furnace
of earth,
purified seven times.
Concerning the works
of men,
by the word
of thy lips
I have kept me
from the paths
of the destroyer.
The law
of the LORD
is perfect,
converting
the soul:
the testimony
of the LORD is sure,
making wise
the simple.
The statutes
of the LORD
are right,
rejoicing
the heart:
the commandment
of the LORD
is pure,
enlightening
the eyes.
The fear
of the LORD
is clean,
enduring
for ever:
the judgments
of the LORD
are true
and righteous altogether.
More
to be desired are
they than gold,
yea,
than much fine gold:
sweeter
also than honey
and the honeycomb.
Moreover by them is
thy servant warned:
and in keeping
of them there is great reward.
For the word
of the LORD
is right;
and all
his works
are done
in truth.
The law
of his God
is in his heart;
none of his steps
shall slide.
I delight to do
thy will,
O my God:
yea,
thy law
is within my heart.
O send out thy
light
and thy truth:
let them
lead me;
let them
bring me
unto thy holy hill,
and to thy tabernacles.
Give ear,
O my people,
to my law:
incline your ears
to the words
of my mouth.
That they
might set
their hope
in God,
and not forget
the works
of God,
but keep
his commandments:
And might not be
as their fathers,
a stubborn
and rebellious generation;
a generation that set
not their heart aright,
and whose spirit
was not stedfast
with God.
I will hear
what
God the LORD
will speak:
for he
will speak peace
unto his people,
and
to his saints:
but let them not
turn again
to folly.
Thy testimonies
are very sure:
holiness
becometh
thine house,
O LORD,
for ever.
Blessed is the man whom
thou chastenest,
O LORD,
and teachest him
out of thy law;
This shall be written
for the generation
to come:
and
the people
which shall be created
shall praise
the LORD.
Then they
cry
unto the LORD
in their trouble,
and
he saveth them
out of their
distresses.
The works
of his hands
are verity
and judgment;
all his commandments are sure.
Wherewithal
shall
a young man
cleanse
his way?
by taking
heed thereto according to
thy word.
Thy word
have
I hid in mine heart,
that I
might not sin
against thee.
Blessed art thou,
O LORD:
teach me
thy statutes.
I have rejoiced
in the way
of thy testimonies,
as much as
in all riches.
I will meditate
in thy precepts,
and have
respect unto thy ways.
I will delight myself
in thy statutes:
I will not forget
thy word.
Open thou
mine eyes,
that I
may behold wondrous things
out of thy law.
I am a stranger
in the earth:
hide
not thy commandments
from me.
My soul
breaketh for the longing
that it
hath
unto thy judgments
at all times.
Princes
also did sit
and
speak against me:
but thy servant
did meditate
in thy statutes.
Thy testimonies
also are
my delight
and my counsellors.leth.
My soul
cleaveth unto the dust:
quicken
thou me
according to
thy word.
My soul
melteth for heaviness:
strengthen
thou me
according unto thy word.
I have chosen
the way
of truth:
thy judgments
have
I laid
before me.
I have stuck
unto thy testimonies:
O LORD,
put me not
to shame.
Teach me,
O LORD,
the way
of thy statutes;
and
I shall keep it
unto the end.
Make me
to go in the path
of thy commandments;
for therein do
I delight.
Let thy mercies
come also unto me,
O LORD,
even thy salvation,
according to
thy word.
And
I will walk
at liberty:
for I
seek thy precepts.
I will speak
of thy testimonies
also before kings,
and will not be ashamed.
And
I will delight myself
in thy commandments,
which I
have loved.
My hands
also will
I lift up
unto thy commandments,
which I
have loved;
and
I will meditate
in thy statutes.
Remember the word
unto thy servant,
upon which thou
hast caused me
to hope.
This is my comfort
in my affliction:
for thy
word
hath quickened me.
The proud
have had me
greatly in derision:
yet have
I not declined
from thy law.
I remembered thy judgments
of old,
O LORD;
and have comforted myself.
Thy statutes
have been my songs
in the house
of my pilgrimage.
The bands
of the wicked
have robbed me:
but
I have not forgotten
thy law.
Teach me good judgment
and knowledge:
for I
have believed
thy commandments.
Before I
was afflicted
I went astray:
but now have
I kept
thy word.
Their heart
is as fat
as grease;
but I
delight
in thy law.
The law of thy
mouth
is better
unto me than
thousands of gold
and silver.
They
that fear thee
will be glad
when they
see me;
because
I
have hoped in thy word.
Let,
I pray thee,
thy merciful kindness
be for my comfort,
according to
thy word
unto thy servant.
Let thy
tender mercies
come unto me,
that I
may live:
for thy law is my delight.
Let the proud
be ashamed;
for they
dealt perversely
with me
without a cause:
but
I will meditate
in thy precepts.
My soul
fainteth for thy salvation:
but I
hope in thy word.
Mine
eyes
fail for thy word,
saying,
When
wilt
thou comfort me?
For I
am become like
a bottle
in the smoke;
yet do
I not forget
thy statutes.
All thy commandments
are faithful:
they persecute me wrongfully;
help thou me.
For ever,
O LORD,
thy word
is settled
in heaven.
Unless thy law
had been
my delights,
I should then
have perished
in mine affliction.
I will never forget
thy precepts:
for with them thou
hast quickened me.
I have seen
an end
of all perfection:
but thy commandment
is exceeding broad.
O how
I love thy law!
it is
my meditation all the day.
Thou through thy commandments
hast made me wiser
than mine enemies:
for they are ever with me.
I have more understanding
than all my teachers:
for thy testimonies
are my meditation.
I understand more than
the ancients,
because
I keep
thy precepts.
How sweet
are
thy words
unto my taste!
yea,
sweeter
than honey
to my mouth!
Through thy precepts
I get
understanding:
therefore I
hate
every false way.
Thy word
is a lamp
unto my feet,
and a light
unto my path.
My soul
is continually
in my hand:
yet do
I not forget
thy law.
Thy testimonies
have
I taken
as an heritage
for ever:
for they are
the rejoicing
of my heart.
I hate
vain thoughts:
but thy law
do I love.
Depart from me,
ye evildoers:
for I will keep
the commandments
of my God.
Thou puttest away all
the wicked
of the earth like dross:
therefore I
love
thy testimonies.
Therefore I
love
thy commandments above gold;
yea,
above fine gold.
Therefore I
esteem all
thy precepts
concerning all things
to be right;
and I
hate
every false way.
Thy testimonies
are wonderful:
therefore doth
my soul
keep them.
The entrance
of thy
words
giveth light;
it giveth
understanding unto the simple.
I opened
my mouth,
and panted:
for I longed for
thy commandments.
Order my steps
in thy word:
and let not
any iniquity
have dominion
over me.
Thy testimonies
that thou
hast commanded
are righteous
and very faithful.
Thy word
is very pure:
therefore thy servant
loveth it.
I am small
and despised:
yet do not
I forget
thy precepts.
Thy righteousness
is an everlasting righteousness,
and thy law
is the truth.
Trouble
and anguish
have taken
hold on me:
yet thy commandments
are my delights.
The righteousness
of thy testimonies
is everlasting:
give me understanding,
and I shall live.
Mine
eyes
prevent the night watches,
that I
might meditate
in thy word.
Thou art
near, O LORD;
and all thy commandments
are truth.
Concerning thy testimonies,
I have known
of old
that thou
hast founded them
for ever.
Consider mine affliction,
and deliver me:
for I
do not forget
thy law.
Many are my persecutors
and mine enemies;
yet do
I not decline
from thy testimonies.
I beheld
the transgressors,
and was grieved;
because
they
kept not thy word.
Consider how I
love thy precepts:
quicken me,
O LORD,
according to
thy lovingkindness.
Thy word
is true
from the beginning:
and every one
of thy righteous judgments
endureth for ever.
Princes
have persecuted me
without a cause:
but my heart
standeth in awe
of thy word.
I rejoice
at thy word,
as one
that findeth great
spoil.
I hate
and abhor lying:
but thy law
do I love.
Great peace
have
they which love
thy law:
and nothing
shall offend them.
My soul
hath kept
thy testimonies;
and
I love them exceedingly.
My tongue
shall speak
of thy word:
for all
thy commandments
are righteousness.
Let thine hand
help me;
for I
have chosen
thy precepts.
I have longed for
thy salvation,
O LORD;
and thy law
is my delight.
I will worship
toward thy holy temple,
and praise thy
name for thy lovingkindness
and for thy truth:
for thou
hast magnified
thy word
above all thy name.
He sendeth forth his commandment
upon earth:
his word
runneth
very swiftly.
He sheweth his word
unto Jacob,
his statutes
and his judgments
unto Israel.
My son,
keep thy father's commandment,
and forsake not
the law
of thy mother:
Bind them
continually upon thine heart,
and tie them
about thy neck.
When thou goest,
it shall lead thee;
when
thou sleepest,
it shall keep thee;
and
when
thou awakest,
it shall talk
with thee.
For the commandment
is a lamp;
and the law
is light;
and
reproofs
of instruction
are the way of life:
That I
might make
thee
know the certainty
of the words
of truth;
that thou
mightest answer the words
of truth to them
that send
unto thee?
Every word
of God
is pure:
he is a shield
unto them that put their trust
in him.
Add
thou
not unto his words,
lest
he reprove thee,
and
thou be found
a liar.
Keep thy
foot
when
thou goest
to the house
of God,
and be more ready
to hear,
than
to give the sacrifice
of fools:
for they
consider not that
they do evil.
The preacher
sought to find out
acceptable words:
and that which
was written
was upright,
even words
of truth.
The words
of the wise
are
as goads,
and as nails
fastened
by the masters
of assemblies,
which are given
from one shepherd.
And many people
shall go
and say,
Come ye,
and let us
go up to
the mountain
of the LORD,
to the house
of the God
of Jacob;
and
he will teach us
of his ways,
and
we will walk
in his paths:
for out of Zion shall go
forth the law,
and the word
of the LORD
from Jerusalem.
Bind
up the testimony,
seal the law
among my disciples.
To the law
and to the testimony:
if they
speak not according to
this word,
it is
because
there is
no light in them.
But
the word
of the LORD
was unto them precept
upon precept,
precept
upon precept;
line upon line,
line upon line;
here a little,
and
there a little;
that they
might go,
and fall backward,
and be broken,
and snared,
and taken.
And thine ears
shall hear
a word
behind thee,
saying,
This is the way,
walk ye in it,
when ye
turn
to the right hand,
and
when ye
turn
to the left.
Seek
ye out of the book
of the LORD,
and read:
no one of these
shall fail,
none shall want
her mate:
for my mouth
it hath commanded,
and his spirit it
hath gathered them.
The grass withereth,
the flower fadeth:
but
the word
of our God
shall stand for ever.
Hearken unto me,
ye that
know
righteousness,
the people
in whose heart
is my law;
fear
ye not
the reproach
of men,
neither be
ye afraid
of their revilings.
For as the rain
cometh down,
and the snow
from heaven,
and returneth not thither,
but watereth the earth,
and maketh it
bring forth and bud,
that it
may give
seed
to the sower,
and bread
to the eater:
So shall
my word
be
that goeth forth
out of my mouth:
it shall not return
unto me void,
but it
shall accomplish that
which I please,
and it
shall prosper
in the thing whereto
I sent it.
The wise men
are ashamed,
they are dismayed
and taken:
lo,
they have rejected
the word
of the LORD;
and
what wisdom
is in them?
Hear ye,
and give ear;
be not proud:
for the LORD
hath spoken.
Thy words
were found,
and
I did eat them;
and thy
word
was unto me the joy
and rejoicing
of mine heart:
for I
am called
by thy name,
O LORD God
of hosts.
O earth,
earth,
earth,
hear the word
of the LORD.
The prophet that
hath a dream,
let him
tell a dream;
and he that
hath my word,
let him
speak
my word faithfully.
What is the chaff
to the wheat?
saith the LORD.
Is not
my word like
as a fire?
saith the LORD;
and like
a hammer
that breaketh
the rock
in pieces?
And
the burden
of the LORD
shall
ye mention no more:
for every man's word
shall be
his burden;
for ye
have perverted the words
of the living God,
of the LORD
of hosts our God.
And
he said unto me,
Son of man,
cause thy belly
to eat,
and fill
thy bowels
with this roll
that
I give thee.
Then did
I eat it;
and it
was in my mouth
as honey
for sweetness.
Moreover he
said unto me,
Son of man,
all my words
that I
shall speak
unto thee
receive in thine heart,
and hear
with thine ears.
And the LORD
said unto me,
Son of man,
mark well,
and behold
with thine eyes,
and hear
with thine ears all that
I say unto thee
concerning all the ordinances
of the house
of the LORD,
and all
the laws thereof;
and mark well
the entering in
of the house,
with every going forth
of the sanctuary.
But I
will shew
thee that
which is noted in the scripture
of truth:
and there is none
that holdeth with me
in these things,
but Michael
your prince.
But thou,
O Daniel,
shut
up the words,
and seal
the book,
even to the time
of the end:
many shall run
to and fro,
and knowledge
shall be increased.
And he said,
Go thy way,
Daniel:
for the words
are closed
up and sealed
till the time
of the end.
Therefore have
I hewed them
by the prophets;
I have slain them
by the words
of my mouth:
and thy judgments
are as the light
that goeth forth.
Behold,
the days come,
saith the Lord GOD,
that I
will send
a famine
in the land,
not a famine
of bread,
nor a thirst
for water,
but of hearing
the words
of the LORD:
And
they shall wander
from sea to sea,
and
from the north
even to the east,
they shall run
to
and fro
to seek the word
of the LORD,
and shall not find it.
In that day
shall
the fair virgins
and young men
faint for thirst.
O thou
that art
named
the house
of Jacob,
is the spirit
of the LORD straitened?
are these
his doings?
do not
my words
do good
to him
that walketh uprightly?
And the LORD
answered me,
and said,
Write the vision,
and make it plain
upon tables,
that he
may run
that readeth it.
Should
ye not hear
the words
which the LORD
hath cried
by the former prophets,
when Jerusalem
was inhabited
and
in prosperity,
and the cities thereof round
about her,
when men
inhabited
the south
and the plain?
Think not
that I
am come
to destroy
the law,
or the prophets:
I am not come
to destroy,
but to fulfil.
Therefore whosoever
heareth these sayings
of mine,
and doeth them,
I will liken him
unto a wise man,
which built
his house
upon a rock:
And the rain descended,
and the floods came,
and the winds blew,
and beat
upon that house;
and it
fell not:
for it
was founded
upon a rock.
For all
the prophets
and the law
prophesied until John.
He that
hath ears
to hear,
let him hear.
But he
that received
seed into the good ground
is
he that heareth
the word,
and understandeth it;
which also beareth fruit,
and
bringeth forth,
some an hundredfold,
some sixty,
some thirty.
Another parable
spake
he unto them;
The kingdom
of heaven
is like
unto leaven,
which a woman took,
and hid in three measures
of meal,
till the whole
was leavened.
But he
answered
and
said unto them,
Why do
ye also transgress
the commandment
of God
by your tradition?
But in vain
they do worship me,
teaching
for doctrines
the commandments
of men.
Jesus
answered
and
said unto them,
Ye do err,
not knowing
the scriptures,
nor the power
of God.
And saying,
The time
is fulfilled,
and
the kingdom
of God
is at hand:
repent ye,
and believe
the gospel.
And
he said unto them,
Full well
ye reject
the commandment
of God,
that ye
may keep
your own tradition.
Making the word
of God
of none effect
through your tradition,
which ye
have delivered:
and many such like
things do ye.
And Jesus
answering
said unto them,
Do ye
not therefore err,
because
ye know not
the scriptures,
neither the power
of God?
Heaven
and earth
shall pass away:
but my words
shall not pass away.
For with God nothing
shall be impossible.
And all bare him witness,
and wondered
at the gracious words
which proceeded
out of his mouth.
And they said,
Is not
this Joseph's son?
Now the parable
is this:
The seed
is the word
of God.
Those by the way side
are they that
hear;
then cometh the devil,
and taketh away
the word
out of their hearts,
lest
they should believe
and be saved.
They on the rock
are they,
which,
when they hear,
receive the word
with joy;
and these
have
no root,
which for a
while believe,
and
in time
of temptation
fall away.
And that
which fell
among thorns
are they,
which,
when
they have heard,
go forth,
and are choked
with cares
and riches
and pleasures
of this life,
and bring
no fruit
to perfection.
But
that on the good ground
are they,
which in an honest
and good heart,
having heard
the word,
keep it,
and bring forth fruit
with patience.
But he said,
Yea rather,
blessed
are they that
hear the word
of God,
and keep it.
And it
is easier
for heaven
and earth
to pass,
than one tittle
of the law
to fail.
Abraham
saith unto him,
They have Moses
and the prophets;
let them
hear them.
And
he said unto him,
If they
hear not Moses
and the prophets,
neither will
they be persuaded,
though one rose
from the dead.
And
they said one
to another,
Did
not our heart burn
within us,
while he
talked
with us
by the way,
and
while he
opened
to us the scriptures?
Then opened
he their understanding,
that they
might understand
the scriptures,
When
therefore he
was risen
from the dead,
his disciples
remembered that
he had said
this unto them;
and
they believed
the scripture,
and the word which Jesus
had said.
Verily,
verily,
I say unto you,
He that heareth my word,
and believeth
on him that
sent me,
hath everlasting life,
and shall not come
into condemnation;
but is passed
from death
unto life.
Search the scriptures;
for in them ye
think
ye have
eternal life:
and they
are
they
which testify of me.
It is
the spirit
that quickeneth;
the flesh
profiteth nothing:
the words that
I speak unto you,
they are spirit,
and
they are life.
Then said
Jesus to those Jews
which believed on him, If
ye continue
in my word,
then are
ye my disciples indeed;
And
ye shall know
the truth,
and the truth
shall make you free.
If he
called them gods,
unto whom
the word
of God came,
and the scripture
cannot be broken;
Now ye
are clean
through the word
which I
have spoken
unto you.
For I
have given
unto them the words which
thou gavest me;
and
they have received them,
and have known surely
that I
came out
from thee,
and
they have believed that
thou didst send me.
Sanctify them
through thy truth:
thy word
is truth.
And
for their sakes
I sanctify myself,
that they
also might be sanctified
through the truth.
Neither pray
I for these alone,
but for them also which
shall believe on me
through their word;
But these
are written,
that ye
might believe
that Jesus
is the Christ,
the Son of God;
and
that believing
ye might have life
through his name.
And the voice
spake unto him again
the second time,
What God
hath cleansed,
that call not
thou common.
These were more noble
than those
in Thessalonica,
in that
they received
the word
with all readiness
of mind,
and searched
the scriptures daily,
whether those things
were so.
And now,
brethren,
I commend you
to God,
and to the word
of his grace,
which is able
to build you up,
and
to give
you an inheritance
among all
them which
are sanctified.
To open their eyes,
and
to turn them
from darkness
to light,
and
from the power
of Satan
unto God,
that they
may receive forgiveness
of sins,
and inheritance
among them which
are sanctified
by faith
that is in me.
Having therefore obtained
help of God,
I continue
unto this day,
witnessing both
to small
and great,
saying none other things
than those
which the prophets
and Moses
did say
should come:
What advantage then
hath the Jew?
or what
profit
is there
of circumcision?
Much every way:
chiefly,
because
that unto them were committed
the oracles
of God.
Now it
was not written
for his sake alone,
that it
was imputed
to him;
But for us also,
to whom it
shall be imputed,
if we
believe
on him
that raised
up Jesus our Lord
from the dead;
But God
be thanked,
that ye
were the servants
of sin,
but
ye have obeyed
from the heart that form
of doctrine which
was delivered you.
Who are Israelites;
to whom
pertaineth the adoption,
and the glory,
and the covenants,
and the giving
of the law,
and the service
of God,
and the promises;
Not as
though the word
of God
hath taken
none effect.
For they
are not all
Israel,
which are of Israel:
So then faith
cometh
by hearing,
and hearing
by the word
of God.
And be not conformed
to this world:
but be
ye transformed
by the renewing
of your mind,
that ye
may prove
what is that good,
and acceptable,
and perfect,
will of God.
For whatsoever things
were written
aforetime were written
for our learning,
that we
through patience
and comfort
of the scriptures
might have hope.
But now is made manifest,
and
by the scriptures
of the prophets,
according to
the commandment
of the everlasting God,
made known
to all nations
for the obedience
of faith:
Which things also
we speak,
not in the words
which man's wisdom teacheth,
but which the Holy Ghost teacheth;
comparing
spiritual things
with spiritual.
But
I speak this
by permission,
and
not of commandment.
But to the rest
speak I,
not the Lord:
If any brother
hath
a wife that believeth not,
and
she be pleased
to dwell with him,
let him
not put her away.
Or saith
he it
altogether for our sakes?
For our sakes,
no doubt,
this is written:
that he
that ploweth
should plow
in hope;
and that
he that
thresheth
in hope
should be partaker
of his hope.
Now all
these things
happened
unto them
for ensamples:
and
they are written
for our admonition,
upon whom the ends
of the world
are come.
Now I
praise you,
brethren,
that ye
remember me
in all things,
and keep
the ordinances,
as I
delivered them
to you.
For I delivered
unto you
first of all
that which
I also received,
how that Christ
died
for our sins
according to the scriptures;
For we
are not as many,
which corrupt the word
of God:
but
as of sincerity,
but as of God,
in the sight
of God
speak we in Christ.
Who also hath
made us able ministers
of the new testament;
not of the letter,
but of the spirit:
for the letter killeth,
but the spirit
giveth life.
But though we,
or an angel
from heaven,
preach any other gospel
unto you than
that which
we have preached
unto you,
let him be accursed.
But
I certify you,
brethren,
that the gospel which
was preached
of me is not
after man.
For I neither received it
of man,
neither was
I taught it,
but by the revelation
of Jesus Christ.
That we
should be to the praise
of his glory,
who first trusted
in Christ.
In whom
ye also trusted,
after that
ye heard
the word
of truth,
the gospel
of your salvation:
in whom
also after that
ye believed,
ye were sealed
with that
holy Spirit
of promise,
How that
by revelation
he made
known unto me the mystery;
(as I
wrote afore
in few words,
Whereby,
when ye read,
ye may understand my knowledge
in the mystery
of Christ)
Which in other ages
was not made
known
unto the sons
of men,
as it is now revealed
unto his holy apostles
and prophets
by the Spirit;
That he
might sanctify
and cleanse it
with the washing
of water
by the word,
And take
the helmet
of salvation,
and the sword
of the Spirit,
which is the word
of God:
Holding
forth the word
of life;
that I
may rejoice
in the day
of Christ,
that I
have not run
in vain,
neither laboured
in vain.
For the hope
which is laid up
for you
in heaven,
whereof
ye heard before
in the word
of the truth
of the gospel;
Let the word
of Christ
dwell in you
richly in all wisdom;
teaching
and admonishing one
another
in psalms
and hymns
and spiritual songs,
singing
with grace
in your hearts
to the Lord.
For our gospel
came not unto you
in word only,
but also in power,
and
in the Holy Ghost,
and
in much assurance;
as ye
know
what manner
of men
we were among you
for your sake.
For from you
sounded out the word
of the Lord not
only in Macedonia
and Achaia,
but also in every
place
your faith
to God-ward
is spread abroad;
so that
we need not
to speak any thing.
For this cause
also thank
we God
without ceasing,
because,
when ye
received
the word
of God
which ye
heard of us,
ye received it
not as the word
of men,
but as it
is in truth,
the word of God,
which effectually worketh also
in you that believe.
Furthermore
then
we beseech you,
brethren,
and exhort you
by the Lord Jesus,
that as ye
have received of us
how ye
ought to walk
and
to please God,
so ye
would abound
more
and more.
For ye
know
what commandments
we gave you
by the Lord Jesus.
Despise not
prophesyings.
Whereunto
he called you
by our gospel,
to the obtaining
of the glory
of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Therefore,
brethren,
stand fast,
and hold
the traditions
which ye
have been taught,
whether by word,
or our epistle.
For it
is sanctified by the word
of God and prayer.
If thou put
the brethren
in remembrance
of these things,
thou shalt be
a good minister
of Jesus Christ,
nourished up
in the words
of faith
and of good doctrine,
whereunto
thou hast attained.
If any man
teach otherwise,
and consent not
to wholesome words,
even the words
of our Lord Jesus Christ,
and
to the doctrine
which is according to
godliness;
He is proud,
knowing nothing,
but doting
about questions
and strifes
of words,
whereof cometh envy,
strife,
railings,
evil surmisings,
Hold
fast
the form
of sound words,
which thou
hast heard of me,
in faith
and love which
is in Christ Jesus.
Remember
that Jesus Christ
of the seed
of David
was raised
from the dead
according to my gospel:
Wherein I
suffer trouble,
as an evil doer,
even unto bonds;
but
the word
of God
is not bound.
Study to shew
thyself
approved
unto God,
a workman that
needeth not
to be ashamed,
rightly dividing the word
of truth.
And
that from a child
thou hast known
the holy scriptures,
which are able
to make thee wise
unto salvation
through faith
which is in Christ Jesus.
All scripture
is given
by inspiration
of God,
and is profitable
for doctrine,
for reproof,
for correction,
for instruction
in righteousness:
God,
who at sundry
times
and
in divers manners
spake
in time past
unto the fathers
by the prophets,
Hath
in these last days
spoken unto us
by his Son,
whom
he hath appointed heir
of all things,
by whom also
he made
the worlds;
Therefore we
ought to give
the more earnest
heed
to the things
which we
have heard,
lest at any time
we should let them slip.
For if the word
spoken
by angels
was stedfast,
and every transgression
and disobedience
received
a
just recompence
of reward;
How shall
we escape,
if we
neglect so great salvation;
which at the first began
to be spoken
by the Lord,
and was confirmed
unto us by them
that heard him;
For unto us was
the gospel preached,
as well as unto them:
but the word
preached
did not profit them,
not being mixed
with faith
in them that
heard it.
For the word
of God
is quick,
and powerful,
and sharper
than any twoedged sword,
piercing even
to the dividing asunder
of soul
and spirit,
and
of the joints
and marrow,
and is a discerner
of the thoughts
and intents
of the heart.
And have tasted
the good word
of God,
and the powers
of the world
to come,
Then said I,
Lo,
I come
(in the volume
of the book
it is written of me,)
to do
thy will,
O God.
He that
despised
Moses' law
died
without mercy
under two
or three witnesses:
Through faith
we understand
that the worlds
were framed
by the word
of God,
so that
things
which are seen
were not made
of things
which do appear.
Of his own
will
begat
he us
with the word
of truth,
that we
should be a kind
of firstfruits
of his creatures.
Wherefore,
my beloved brethren,
let every man
be swift
to hear,
slow to speak,
slow to wrath:
Wherefore lay apart all filthiness
and superfluity
of naughtiness,
and receive
with meekness
the engrafted word,
which is able
to save your souls.
But be
ye doers
of the word,
and
not hearers only,
deceiving
your own selves.
For if any
be a hearer
of the word,
and not
a doer,
he is like
unto a man
beholding
his natural face
in a glass:
For he
beholdeth himself,
and goeth his way,
and straightway forgetteth
what manner
of man he was.
But
whoso looketh
into the perfect law
of liberty,
and continueth
therein,
he being not
a forgetful hearer,
but a doer
of the work,
this man
shall be blessed
in his deed.
Being born again,
not of corruptible seed,
but of incorruptible,
by the word
of God,
which liveth
and abideth
for ever.
For all flesh
is as grass,
and all
the glory
of man
as the flower
of grass.
The grass withereth,
and the flower
thereof falleth away:
But
the word
of the Lord
endureth for ever.
And this
is the word
which by the gospel
is preached
unto you.
As newborn babes,
desire the sincere milk
of the word,
that ye
may grow thereby:
Whereby are given
unto us exceeding
great
and precious promises:
that by these
ye might be partakers
of the divine nature,
having escaped
the corruption
that is
in the world
through lust.
We have also
a more sure word
of prophecy;
whereunto
ye do well
that
ye take heed,
as unto a light
that shineth in a dark place,
until the day dawn,
and the day
star
arise
in your hearts:
Knowing this first,
that no prophecy
of the scripture
is of any private interpretation.
For the prophecy
came not
in old time
by the will
of man:
but holy men
of God
spake as they
were moved
by the Holy Ghost.
This second epistle,
beloved,
I now write
unto you;
in both which
I stir
up your pure minds
by way
of remembrance:
That ye
may be mindful
of the words
which were spoken before
by the holy prophets,
and
of the commandment
of us the apostles
of the Lord
and Saviour:
And account that
the longsuffering
of our Lord
is salvation;
even as
our beloved brother Paul
also according to
the wisdom given
unto him hath written
unto you;
As also in all his epistles,
speaking in them
of these things;
in which
are some things hard
to be understood,
which they
that are unlearned
and unstable wrest,
as they
do also
the other scriptures,
unto their own destruction.
And these things
write
we unto you,
that your joy
may be full.
This
then is the message
which we
have heard of him,
and declare
unto you,
that God
is light,
and
in him is no darkness
at all.
Brethren,
I write
no new commandment
unto you,
but an old commandment
which ye
had from the beginning.
The old commandment
is the word
which ye
have heard
from the beginning.
Again,
a new commandment
I write unto you,
which thing
is true
in him and
in you:
because
the darkness
is past,
and the true light
now shineth.
I write unto you,
little children,
because
your sins
are forgiven you
for his name's sake.
I have written
unto you,
fathers,
because
ye have known him
that is
from the beginning.
I have written
unto you,
young men,
because
ye are strong,
and the word
of God abideth
in you,
and
ye have overcome
the wicked one.
I have not written
unto you
because
ye know not
the truth,
but
because
ye know it,
and that no
lie
is of the truth.
And this
is the record,
that God
hath given
to us eternal life,
and this life
is in his Son.
These things
have
I written
unto you
that believe
on the name
of the Son
of God;
that ye
may know that
ye have
eternal life,
and
that ye
may believe on the name
of the Son
of God.
Beloved,
when I
gave all
diligence
to write unto you
of the common salvation,
it was needful
for me
to write
unto you,
and exhort
you
that ye
should earnestly contend
for the faith
which was once delivered
unto the saints.
But,
beloved,
remember
ye the words
which were spoken before
of the apostles
of our Lord Jesus Christ;
Who bare
record
of the word
of God,
and
of the testimony
of Jesus Christ,
and of all things
that he saw.
Blessed
is
he that readeth,
and
they that
hear
the words
of this prophecy,
and keep those things which
are written
therein:
for the time
is at hand.
For I
testify
unto every man
that heareth the words
of the prophecy
of this book,
If any man
shall add
unto these things,
God shall add
unto him the plagues
that are written
in this book:
And if any man
shall take away
from the words
of the book
of this prophecy,
God shall take away
his part
out of the book
of life,
and out of the holy city,
and
from the things
which are written
in this book.
