And Jacob
vowed a vow,
saying,
If God
will be with me,
and will keep me
in this way
that
I go,
and will give me
bread to eat,
and raiment
to put on,
So that
I come again
to my father's house
in peace;
then shall
the LORD
be my God:
Or if a soul swear,
pronouncing
with his lips
to do evil,
or to do good,
whatsoever
it be that
a man
shall pronounce
with an oath,
and it
be hid from him;
when
he knoweth of it,
then
he shall be guilty
in one
of these.
And it
shall be,
when
he shall be guilty
in one
of these things,
that he
shall confess
that he
hath sinned
in that thing:
And he
shall bring
his trespass
offering
unto the LORD
for his sin
which he
hath sinned,
a female
from the flock,
a lamb or a kid
of the goats,
for a sin offering;
and the priest
shall make
an atonement
for him concerning his sin.
And
if he
be not able
to bring a lamb,
then
he shall bring
for his trespass,
which he
hath committed,
two turtledoves,
or two young pigeons,
unto the LORD;
one
for a sin offering,
and the other
for a burnt offering.
And
he shall bring them
unto the priest,
who shall offer
that
which is for the sin
offering first,
and wring
off his head
from his neck,
but shall not divide it asunder:
And he
shall sprinkle of the blood
of the sin
offering
upon the side
of the altar;
and
the rest
of the blood
shall be wrung out
at the bottom
of the altar:
it is
a sin offering.
And he
shall offer
the second
for a burnt offering,
according to the manner:
and the priest
shall make
an atonement
for him
for his sin
which he
hath sinned,
and it
shall be forgiven him.
But
if he
be not able
to bring two turtledoves,
or two young pigeons,
then
he that
sinned
shall bring
for his offering
the tenth part
of an ephah
of fine flour
for a sin offering;
he shall put
no oil
upon it,
neither shall
he put any frankincense thereon:
for it
is
a sin offering.
Then shall
he bring it
to the priest,
and the priest
shall take
his handful of it,
even a memorial thereof,
and burn it
on the altar,
according to
the offerings
made
by fire
unto the LORD:
it is
a sin offering.
And the priest
shall make
an atonement
for him
as touching
his sin
that he
hath sinned
in one of these,
and it
shall be forgiven him:
and the remnant
shall be
the priest's,
as a meat offering.
But
if the sacrifice
of his offering
be a vow,
or a voluntary offering,
it shall be eaten
the same day
that he
offereth his sacrifice:
and on the morrow
also the remainder of it
shall be eaten:
But the remainder
of the flesh
of the sacrifice
on the third day
shall be burnt
with fire.
And
if any of the flesh
of the sacrifice
of his peace offerings
be eaten at
all on the third day,
it shall not be accepted,
neither shall
it be imputed
unto him that
offereth it:
it shall be
an abomination,
and the soul
that eateth of it
shall bear
his iniquity.
Speak unto Aaron,
and to his sons,
and
unto all
the children
of Israel,
and
say unto them,
Whatsoever
he be
of the house
of Israel,
or
of the strangers
in Israel,
that will offer his oblation
for all his vows,
and
for all
his freewill offerings,
which they
will offer
unto the LORD
for a burnt offering;
Ye shall offer
at your own
will
a male
without blemish,
of the beeves,
of the sheep,
or of the goats.
But whatsoever hath
a blemish,
that shall
ye not offer:
for it
shall not be acceptable
for you.
And whosoever
offereth
a sacrifice
of peace offerings
unto the LORD
to accomplish his vow,
or a freewill offering
in beeves
or sheep,
it shall be
perfect to be accepted;
there shall be
no blemish therein.
Blind,
or broken,
or maimed,
or having a wen,
or scurvy,
or scabbed,
ye shall not offer these
unto the LORD,
nor make
an offering
by fire
of them
upon the altar
unto the LORD.
Either a bullock
or a lamb
that hath any thing superfluous
or lacking
in his parts,
that mayest
thou offer
for a freewill offering;
but for a vow
it shall not be accepted.
Ye shall not offer
unto the LORD
that which
is bruised,
or crushed,
or broken,
or cut;
neither shall
ye make
any offering thereof
in your land.
Neither from a stranger's hand
shall
ye offer
the bread
of your God
of any of these;
because
their corruption
is in them,
and blemishes
be in them:
they shall not be accepted
for you.
These are the feasts
of the LORD,
which ye
shall proclaim to be
holy convocations,
to offer
an offering
made
by fire
unto the LORD,
a burnt offering,
and a meat offering,
a sacrifice,
and drink
offerings,
every thing
upon his day:
Beside the sabbaths
of the LORD,
and
beside your gifts,
and
beside all your vows,
and
beside all
your freewill offerings,
which ye
give
unto the LORD.
And the LORD
spake unto Moses,
saying,
Speak
unto the children
of Israel,
and
say unto them,
When a man
shall make
a singular vow,
the persons
shall be
for the LORD
by thy estimation.
And thy estimation
shall be
of the male
from twenty years old
even unto sixty years old,
even
thy estimation
shall be
fifty shekels
of silver,
after the shekel
of the sanctuary.
And
if it
be
a female,
then thy estimation
shall be
thirty shekels.
And
if it
be
from five years old
even unto twenty years old,
then thy estimation
shall be
of the male twenty shekels,
and
for the female ten shekels.
And
if it
be
from a month old
even unto five years old,
then thy estimation
shall be
of the male five shekels
of silver,
and for the female
thy estimation
shall be three shekels
of silver.
And
if it
be
from sixty years old
and above;
if it
be a male,
then thy estimation
shall be
fifteen shekels,
and
for the female ten shekels.
But
if he
be poorer
than thy estimation,
then
he shall present himself
before the priest,
and the priest
shall value him;
according to
his ability
that vowed
shall
the priest
value him.
And
if it
be a beast,
whereof men
bring an offering
unto the LORD,
all that any man
giveth of such
unto the LORD
shall be holy.
He shall not alter it,
nor change it,
a good
for a bad,
or a bad
for a good:
and
if he
shall
at all change
beast for beast,
then
it and the exchange
thereof shall be holy.
And
if it
be any unclean beast,
of which
they do not offer a
sacrifice
unto the LORD,
then
he shall present
the beast
before the priest:
And the priest
shall value it,
whether it
be
good
or bad:
as thou
valuest it,
who art
the priest,
so shall
it be.
But
if he
will at
all redeem it,
then he
shall add
a fifth
part thereof
unto thy estimation.
And
when a man
shall sanctify
his house
to be holy
unto the LORD,
then the priest
shall estimate it,
whether it
be
good
or bad:
as the priest
shall estimate it,
so shall
it stand.
And
if he
that sanctified
it
will redeem
his house,
then he
shall add
the fifth part
of the money
of thy estimation
unto it,
and it
shall be his.
And
if a man
shall sanctify
unto the LORD some part
of a field
of his possession,
then thy estimation
shall be according to
the seed thereof:
an homer
of barley
seed
shall be valued
at fifty shekels
of silver.
If he
sanctify his field
from the year
of jubile,
according to
thy estimation it
shall stand.
But
if he
sanctify his field
after the jubile,
then the priest
shall reckon
unto him the money
according to
the years that remain,
even unto the year
of the jubile,
and it
shall be abated
from thy estimation.
And
if he
that sanctified
the field
will in any wise
redeem it,
then he
shall add
the fifth part
of the money
of thy estimation
unto it,
and it
shall be assured
to him.
And
if he
will not redeem
the field,
or if
he have sold
the field
to another man,
it shall not be redeemed
any more.
But the field,
when it
goeth out
in the jubile,
shall be holy
unto the LORD,
as a field devoted;
the possession
thereof shall be
the priest's.
And
if a man
sanctify
unto the LORD a field
which he
hath bought,
which is not of the fields
of his possession;
Then the priest
shall reckon
unto him the worth
of thy estimation,
even unto the year
of the jubile:
and he
shall give
thine estimation
in that day,
as a holy thing
unto the LORD.
In the year
of the jubile
the field
shall return
unto him
of whom
it was bought,
even to him
to whom
the possession
of the land
did belong.
And all thy estimations
shall be according to the shekel
of the sanctuary:
twenty gerahs
shall be
the shekel.
Speak
unto the children
of Israel,
and
say unto them,
When
ye be come
into the land
of your habitations,
which I
give unto you,
And will make
an offering
by fire
unto the LORD,
a burnt offering,
or a
sacrifice in
performing a vow,
or in a freewill offering,
or in your solemn feasts,
to make
a sweet savour
unto the LORD,
of the herd
or of the flock:
Then shall
he that
offereth
his offering
unto the LORD
bring a meat
offering
of a tenth deal
of flour
mingled
with the fourth part
of an hin
of oil.
And the fourth part
of an hin
of wine
for a drink
offering
shalt thou
prepare
with the burnt
offering
or sacrifice,
for one lamb.
Or for a ram,
thou shalt prepare
for a meat
offering
two tenth deals
of flour
mingled
with the third part
of an hin
of oil.
And for a drink
offering
thou shalt offer
the third part
of an hin
of wine,
for a sweet savour
unto the LORD.
And
when
thou preparest
a bullock
for a burnt offering,
or for a
sacrifice
in performing a vow,
or peace offerings
unto the LORD:
Then shall
he bring
with a bullock
a meat
offering
of three tenth deals
of flour
mingled
with half an hin of oil.
And
thou shalt bring
for a drink
offering half
an hin of wine,
for an offering
made by fire,
of a sweet savour
unto the LORD.
Thus
shall
it be done
for one bullock,
or for one ram,
or for a lamb,
or a kid.
According to the number
that ye
shall prepare,
so shall
ye do
to every one
according to their number.
All that
are born
of the country
shall do
these things
after this manner,
in offering
an offering
made by fire,
of a sweet savour
unto the LORD.
And
if a stranger sojourn
with you,
or whosoever
be among you
in your generations,
and will offer
an offering
made by fire,
of a sweet savour
unto the LORD;
as ye do,
so he
shall do.
One ordinance
shall be both
for you
of the congregation,
and
also for the stranger
that sojourneth with you,
an ordinance for
ever in your generations:
as ye are,
so shall
the stranger
be before the LORD.
One law
and one manner
shall be for you,
and
for the stranger
that sojourneth with you.
Every thing
devoted in Israel
shall be thine.
These things
ye shall do
unto the LORD
in your set feasts,
beside your vows,
and your freewill offerings,
for your burnt offerings,
and
for your meat offerings,
and
for your drink offerings,
and
for your peace offerings.
If a man
vow a vow
unto the LORD,
or swear
an oath
to bind his soul
with a bond;
he shall not break
his word,
he shall do according to all
that
proceedeth
out of his mouth.
If a woman
also vow a vow
unto the LORD,
and bind herself
by a bond,
being
in her father's house
in her youth;
And her father
hear her vow,
and her bond
wherewith
she hath bound
her soul,
and her father
shall hold
his peace
at her;
then all her vows
shall stand,
and every
bond wherewith
she hath bound
her soul
shall stand.
But
if her father
disallow her
in the day
that he heareth;
not any
of her vows,
or of her bonds
wherewith
she hath bound
her soul,
shall stand:
and the LORD
shall forgive her,
because
her father
disallowed her.
And
if she
had at all
an husband,
when she vowed,
or uttered ought
out of her lips,
wherewith
she bound
her soul;
And her husband
heard it,
and held
his peace
at her
in the day
that he
heard it:
then her vows
shall stand,
and her bonds
wherewith
she bound
her soul
shall stand.
But
if her husband
disallowed her
on the day
that he
heard it;
then
he shall make
her vow
which she vowed,
and
that which
she uttered
with her lips,
wherewith
she bound
her soul,
of none effect:
and the LORD
shall forgive her.
But every vow
of a widow,
and of her
that is divorced,
wherewith
they have bound
their souls,
shall stand
against her.
And
if she
vowed
in her husband's house,
or bound
her soul
by a bond
with an oath;
And her husband
heard it,
and held
his peace
at her,
and disallowed
her not:
then all her vows
shall stand,
and every
bond wherewith
she bound
her soul
shall stand.
But
if her husband
hath utterly made them void
on the day
he heard them;
then whatsoever proceeded
out of her lips
concerning her vows,
or concerning the bond
of her soul,
shall not stand:
her husband
hath made them void;
and the LORD
shall forgive her.
Every vow,
and every binding oath
to afflict the soul,
her husband
may establish it,
or her husband
may make
it void.
But
if her husband
altogether hold his peace
at her
from day to day;
then
he establisheth all
her vows,
or all her bonds,
which are upon her:
he confirmeth them,
because
he held
his peace
at her
in the day
that he heard them.
But
if he
shall any ways
make them void
after that
he hath heard them;
then
he shall bear
her iniquity.
These are the statutes,
which the LORD
commanded Moses,
between a man
and his wife,
between the father
and his daughter,
being yet
in her youth
in her father's house.
And thither
ye shall bring
your burnt offerings,
and your sacrifices,
and your tithes,
and heave offerings
of your hand,
and your vows,
and your freewill offerings,
and the firstlings
of your herds
and of your flocks:
Then there shall be
a place
which the LORD your God
shall choose
to cause
his name
to dwell there;
thither
shall
ye bring all that
I command you;
your burnt offerings,
and your sacrifices,
your tithes,
and the heave
offering
of your hand,
and all
your choice
vows
which ye
vow
unto the LORD:
Thou mayest not eat
within thy
gates the tithe
of thy corn,
or of thy wine,
or of thy oil,
or the firstlings
of thy
herds
or
of thy flock,
nor any of thy
vows which
thou vowest,
nor thy freewill offerings,
or heave
offering of thine hand:
But
thou must eat them
before the LORD thy God
in the place
which the LORD thy God
shall choose,
thou,
and thy son,
and thy daughter,
and thy manservant,
and thy maidservant,
and the Levite
that is
within thy gates:
and
thou shalt rejoice
before the LORD thy God
in all
that thou
puttest
thine
hands unto.
Only thy holy things which
thou hast,
and thy vows,
thou shalt take,
and go
unto the place
which the LORD
shall choose:
Thou shalt not bring
the hire
of a whore,
or the price
of a dog,
into the house
of the LORD
thy God
for any vow:
for even both
these are abomination
unto the LORD thy God.
When
thou shalt vow
a vow
unto the LORD thy God,
thou shalt not slack
to pay it:
for the LORD
thy God
will surely require it
of thee;
and it
would be sin in thee.
But
if thou
shalt forbear
to vow,
it shall be
no sin in thee.
That which
is gone
out of thy lips
thou shalt keep
and perform;
even a freewill offering,
according as thou
hast vowed
unto the LORD thy God,
which thou
hast promised
with thy mouth.
Then
the Spirit
of the LORD
came upon Jephthah,
and he
passed
over Gilead,
and Manasseh,
and passed
over Mizpeh
of Gilead,
and from Mizpeh
of Gilead
he passed over
unto the children
of Ammon.
And Jephthah
vowed
a vow
unto the LORD,
and said,
If thou
shalt without
fail
deliver
the children
of Ammon
into mine hands,
Then it
shall be,
that whatsoever cometh forth
of the doors
of my house
to meet me,
when I
return
in peace
from the children
of Ammon,
shall surely be
the LORD's,
and I
will offer
it up
for a burnt offering.
So Jephthah
passed over
unto the children
of Ammon
to fight against them;
and the LORD
delivered them
into his hands.
And
he smote them
from Aroer,
even till thou
come to Minnith,
even twenty cities,
and
unto the plain
of the vineyards,
with a very great slaughter.
Thus the children
of Ammon
were subdued
before the children
of Israel.
And Jephthah
came to Mizpeh
unto his house,
and,
behold,
his daughter
came out
to meet him
with timbrels
and with dances:
and
she was his only child;
beside her
he had neither son
nor daughter.
And it
came
to pass,
when he
saw her,
that he
rent his clothes,
and said,
Alas,
my daughter!
thou hast brought me very low,
and
thou art one
of them that trouble me:
for I
have opened my mouth
unto the LORD,
and
I cannot go back.
And
she
said unto him,
My father,
if thou
hast opened
thy mouth
unto the LORD,
do to me
according to
that which
hath proceeded
out of thy mouth;
forasmuch
as the LORD
hath taken vengeance
for thee
of thine enemies,
even of
the children
of Ammon.
And she
said
unto her father,
Let this thing
be done for me:
let me
alone two months,
that I
may go up and down
upon the mountains,
and bewail
my virginity,
I and my fellows.
And he said,
Go.
And he
sent her
away for two months:
and
she went with her companions,
and bewailed
her virginity
upon the mountains.
And it
came
to pass
at the end
of two months,
that she
returned
unto her father,
who did with her
according to his vow
which he
had vowed:
and she
knew no man.
And it
was a custom
in Israel,
That the daughters
of Israel
went yearly
to lament the daughter
of Jephthah the Gileadite
four days
in a year.
And the children
of Israel said,
Who is there
among all the tribes
of Israel
that came not
up with the congregation
unto the LORD?
For they
had made
a great oath
concerning
him that
came not
up to the LORD
to Mizpeh,
saying,
He shall surely be put
to death.
And the children
of Israel
repented them
for Benjamin
their brother,
and said,
There
is
one tribe
cut off
from Israel this day.
Thou shalt make
thy prayer
unto him,
and
he shall hear thee,
and
thou shalt pay
thy vows.
My praise
shall be of thee
in the great congregation:
I will pay
my vows
before them that fear him.
Offer
unto God thanksgiving;
and pay
thy vows
unto the most High:
And call upon me
in the day
of trouble:
I will deliver thee,
and
thou shalt glorify me.
Thy vows
are upon me,
O God:
I will render
praises unto thee.
For thou,
O God,
hast heard
my vows:
thou hast given me
the heritage
of those
that fear thy name.
So will
I sing
praise unto thy
name for ever,
that I
may daily perform
my vows.
I will go
into thy
house
with burnt offerings:
I will pay
thee my vows,
Vow,
and pay
unto the LORD your God:
let all
that be round
about him bring
presents unto him that
ought to be feared.
I will pay my vows
unto the LORD
now in the presence
of all his people.
Precious
in the sight
of the LORD
is the death
of his saints.
O LORD,
truly
I am thy servant;
I am thy servant,
and the son
of thine handmaid:
thou hast loosed
my bonds.
I will offer
to thee
the sacrifice
of thanksgiving,
and will call
upon the name
of the LORD.
I will pay my vows
unto the LORD
now in the presence
of all his people.
In the courts
of the LORD's house,
in the midst
of thee,
O Jerusalem.
Praise ye the LORD.
It is
a snare
to the man
who devoureth
that which
is holy,
and after vows to make enquiry.
When
thou vowest
a vow
unto God,
defer not
to pay it;
for he
hath no pleasure
in fools:
pay that which
thou hast vowed.
Better is it
that thou
shouldest not vow,
than
that thou
shouldest vow
and not pay.
Suffer not thy
mouth
to cause thy flesh
to sin;
neither say
thou
before the angel,
that it
was an error:
wherefore should
God be angry
at thy voice,
and destroy
the work
of thine hands?
But
I will sacrifice
unto thee
with the voice
of thanksgiving;
I will pay
that that
I have vowed.
Salvation
is of the LORD.
Behold
upon the mountains the feet
of him that
bringeth good tidings,
that publisheth peace!
O Judah,
keep thy solemn feasts,
perform thy vows:
for the wicked
shall no more pass
through thee;
he is utterly cut off.
But ye say,
If a man
shall say
to his father
or mother,
It is Corban,
that is to say,
a gift,
by whatsoever
thou
mightest be profited by me;
he shall be free.
And
ye suffer him
no more
to do ought
for his father
or his mother;
Making the word
of God
of none effect
through your tradition,
which ye
have delivered:
and many such like
things do ye.
