And the man said,
The woman
whom thou
gavest to be with me,
she gave me
of the tree,
and I
did eat.
And the LORD God
said
unto the woman,
What is this
that thou
hast done?
And the woman said,
The serpent
beguiled me,
and I
did eat.
And Sarai
said
unto Abram,
My wrong
be upon thee:
I have given
my maid
into thy bosom;
and
when she
saw that
she had conceived,
I was despised
in her eyes:
the LORD judge
between me and thee.
And Jacob
sod pottage:
and Esau
came
from the field,
and
he was faint:
And Esau
said
to Jacob,
Feed me,
I pray thee,
with that
same red pottage;
for I
am faint:
therefore was
his name called Edom.
And Jacob said,
Sell me this day
thy birthright.
And Esau said,
Behold,
I am at the point
to die:
and
what profit
shall
this birthright
do to me?
And Jacob said,
Swear
to me this day;
and
he sware unto him:
and he
sold
his birthright
unto Jacob.
Then Jacob
gave Esau bread
and pottage
of lentiles;
and he
did eat
and drink,
and rose up,
and went his way:
thus Esau
despised his birthright.
And he said,
Is not
he rightly named
Jacob?
for he
hath supplanted me
these two times:
he took away
my birthright;
and,
behold,
now
he hath taken away
my blessing.
And he said,
Hast
thou not reserved
a blessing for me?
And Aaron said,
Let not
the anger
of my lord wax hot:
thou knowest
the people,
that they
are set
on mischief.
For they said unto me,
Make us gods,
which shall go
before us:
for as
for this Moses,
the man that
brought us up
out of the land
of Egypt,
we wot not
what
is become of him.
And
I said unto them,
Whosoever
hath any gold,
let them
break it off.
So they
gave it me:
then I cast it
into the fire,
and there came
out this calf.
And Saul
said
unto Samuel, Yea,
I have obeyed
the voice
of the LORD,
and have gone
the way which the LORD
sent me,
and have brought Agag
the king
of Amalek,
and have utterly destroyed
the Amalekites.
But the people
took of the spoil,
sheep and oxen,
the chief
of the things which
should have been utterly destroyed,
to sacrifice
unto the LORD
thy God
in Gilgal.
The word
of the LORD
came
unto me again,
saying,
What mean ye,
that ye
use
this proverb
concerning the land
of Israel,
saying,
The fathers
have eaten
sour grapes,
and the children's teeth
are set
on edge?
As I live,
saith the Lord GOD,
ye shall not have
occasion any more
to use this proverb
in Israel.
Behold,
all souls
are mine;
as the soul
of the father,
so also
the soul
of the son
is mine:
the soul that sinneth,
it shall die.
But
if a man
be just,
and do
that which
is lawful
and right,
And hath not eaten
upon the mountains,
neither hath lifted
up his eyes
to the idols
of the house
of Israel,
neither hath defiled
his neighbour's wife,
neither hath come near
to a menstruous woman,
And hath not oppressed any,
but hath restored
to the debtor his pledge,
hath spoiled none
by violence,
hath given his bread
to the hungry,
and hath covered
the naked
with a garment;
He that
hath not given forth
upon usury,
neither hath taken
any increase,
that hath withdrawn
his hand
from iniquity,
hath executed true judgment
between man
and man,
Hath walked
in my statutes,
and hath kept
my judgments,
to deal truly;
he is just,
he shall surely live,
saith the Lord GOD.
If he
beget a son
that is
a robber,
a shedder
of blood,
and that
doeth
the like
to any one
of these things,
And that
doeth not any
of those duties,
but even hath eaten
upon the mountains,
and defiled
his neighbour's wife,
Hath oppressed
the poor
and needy,
hath spoiled
by violence,
hath not restored
the pledge,
and hath lifted
up his eyes
to the idols,
hath committed
abomination,
Hath given forth
upon usury,
and hath taken increase:
shall he
then live?
he shall not live:
he hath done all
these abominations;
he shall surely die;
his blood
shall be upon him.
Now,
lo,
if he
beget a son,
that seeth all
his father's sins
which he
hath done,
and considereth,
and doeth not
such like,
That hath not eaten
upon the mountains,
neither hath lifted
up his eyes
to the idols
of the house
of Israel,
hath not defiled
his neighbour's wife,
Neither hath oppressed any,
hath not withholden
the pledge,
neither hath spoiled
by violence,
but hath given
his bread
to the hungry,
and hath covered
the naked
with a garment,
That hath taken off
his hand
from the poor,
that hath not received usury
nor increase,
hath executed
my judgments,
hath walked
in my statutes;
he shall not die
for the iniquity
of his father,
he shall surely live.
As for his father,
because
he cruelly oppressed,
spoiled
his brother
by violence,
and did
that which
is not good
among his people,
lo,
even
he shall die
in his iniquity.
Yet say ye,
Why?
doth not
the son
bear the iniquity
of the father?
When the son
hath done
that which
is lawful
and right,
and hath kept all
my statutes,
and hath done them,
he shall surely live.
The soul that sinneth,
it shall die.
The son
shall not bear
the iniquity
of the father,
neither shall
the father
bear the iniquity
of the son:
the righteousness
of the righteous
shall be upon him,
and the wickedness
of the wicked
shall be upon him.
But if the wicked
will turn
from all
his sins that
he hath committed,
and keep all
my statutes,
and do
that which
is lawful
and right,
he shall surely live,
he shall not die.
All his transgressions that
he hath committed,
they shall not be mentioned
unto him:
in his righteousness
that
he hath done
he shall live.
Have
I any pleasure
at all
that the wicked
should die?
saith the Lord GOD:
and
not
that he
should return
from his ways,
and live?
But
when the righteous
turneth away
from his righteousness,
and committeth iniquity,
and doeth according to all
the abominations
that the wicked man doeth,
shall he live?
All his righteousness that
he hath done
shall not be mentioned:
in his trespass
that
he hath trespassed,
and in his sin
that he
hath sinned,
in them shall
he die.
Yet ye say,
The way
of the LORD is not equal.
Hear now,
O house
of Israel;
Is not my way equal?
are not
your ways unequal?
When a righteous man
turneth away
from his righteousness,
and committeth iniquity,
and dieth
in them;
for his iniquity
that
he hath done
shall he die.
Again,
when the wicked man
turneth away
from his wickedness
that
he hath committed,
and doeth
that which
is lawful
and right,
he shall save
his soul alive.
Because
he considereth,
and turneth away
from all
his transgressions that
he hath committed,
he shall surely live,
he shall not die.
Yet saith
the house
of Israel,
The way
of the LORD is not equal.
O house
of Israel,
are not
my ways equal?
are not
your ways unequal?
Therefore I
will judge you,
O house
of Israel,
every one
according to his ways,
saith the Lord GOD.
Repent,
and turn yourselves
from all
your transgressions;
so iniquity
shall not be
your ruin.
Again
the word
of the LORD
came unto me,
saying,
Son of man,
speak
to the children
of thy people,
and
say unto them,
When I
bring the sword
upon a land,
if the people
of the land
take a man
of their coasts,
and set him
for their watchman:
If when he
seeth
the sword
come upon
the land,
he blow
the trumpet,
and warn
the people;
Then whosoever heareth
the sound
of the trumpet,
and taketh
not warning;
if the sword come,
and take him away,
his blood
shall be
upon his own head.
He heard the sound
of the trumpet,
and took
not warning;
his blood
shall be upon him.
But he
that taketh
warning
shall deliver
his soul.
But
if the watchman
see the sword come,
and blow not
the trumpet,
and the people
be not warned;
if the sword come,
and take any person
from among them,
he is taken away
in his iniquity;
but his blood
will
I require
at the watchman's hand.
So thou,
O son of man,
I have set thee
a watchman
unto the house
of Israel;
therefore thou
shalt hear
the word
at my mouth,
and
warn them from me.
When
I say
unto the wicked,
O wicked man,
thou shalt surely die;
if thou
dost not speak
to warn the wicked
from his way,
that wicked man
shall die
in his iniquity;
but his blood
will
I require
at thine hand.
Nevertheless,
if thou
warn the wicked
of his way
to turn from it;
if he
do not turn
from his way,
he shall die
in his iniquity;
but
thou hast delivered
thy soul.
Therefore,
O thou son
of man,
speak
unto the house
of Israel;
Thus
ye speak,
saying,
If our transgressions
and our sins
be upon us,
and
we pine away in them,
how should we
then live?
Say unto them,
As I live,
saith the Lord GOD,
I have no pleasure
in the death
of the wicked;
but
that the wicked turn
from his way
and live:
turn ye,
turn
ye from your evil ways;
for why
will
ye die,
O house
of Israel?
Therefore,
thou son of man,
say
unto the children
of thy people,
The righteousness
of the righteous
shall not deliver him
in the day
of his transgression:
as for the wickedness
of the wicked,
he shall not fall thereby
in the day
that he
turneth from his wickedness;
neither shall
the righteous
be able
to live
for his righteousness
in the day
that he sinneth.
When
I shall say
to the righteous,
that he
shall surely live;
if he
trust
to his own righteousness,
and commit
iniquity,
all his righteousnesses
shall not be remembered;
but for his iniquity
that
he hath committed,
he shall die
for it.
Again,
when
I say
unto the wicked,
Thou shalt surely die;
if he
turn
from his sin,
and do
that which
is lawful
and right;
If the wicked
restore the pledge,
give again that
he had robbed,
walk
in the statutes
of life,
without committing iniquity;
he shall surely live,
he shall not die.
None of his sins that
he hath committed
shall be mentioned unto him:
he hath done
that which
is lawful
and right;
he shall surely live.
Yet the children
of thy people say,
The way
of the Lord
is not equal:
but
as for them,
their way is not equal.
When the righteous
turneth from his righteousness,
and committeth iniquity,
he shall even die
thereby.
But
if the wicked turn
from his wickedness,
and do
that which
is lawful
and right,
he shall live thereby.
And into whatsoever city
or town
ye shall enter,
enquire
who in it
is worthy;
and there abide
till ye
go thence.
And
when ye come
into an house,
salute it.
And
if the house
be worthy,
let your peace
come upon it:
but
if it
be not worthy,
let your peace return
to you.
And whosoever
shall not receive you,
nor hear
your words,
when ye
depart
out of that house
or city,
shake
off the dust
of your feet.
Verily
I say unto you,
It shall be more tolerable
for the land
of Sodom
and Gomorrha
in the day
of judgment,
than
for that city.
Then began
he to upbraid
the cities wherein most
of his mighty works
were done,
because
they repented not:
Woe unto thee,
Chorazin!
woe unto thee,
Bethsaida!
for if the mighty works,
which were done
in you,
had been done
in Tyre
and Sidon,
they would have repented long
ago in sackcloth
and ashes.
But
I say unto you,
It shall be more tolerable
for Tyre
and Sidon
at the day
of judgment,
than for you.
And thou,
Capernaum,
which art exalted
unto heaven,
shalt be brought down
to hell:
for if the mighty works,
which have been done
in thee,
had been done
in Sodom,
it would have remained until
this day.
But
I say unto you,
That it
shall be more tolerable
for the land
of Sodom
in the day
of judgment,
than for thee.
For by thy
words
thou shalt be justified,
and by thy
words
thou shalt be condemned.
The men
of Nineveh
shall rise
in judgment
with this generation,
and shall condemn it:
because
they repented
at the preaching
of Jonas;
and,
behold,
a greater than Jonas
is here.
The queen
of the south
shall rise up
in the judgment
with this generation,
and shall condemn it:
for she came
from the uttermost parts
of the earth
to hear the wisdom
of Solomon;
and,
behold,
a greater than Solomon
is here.
Wherefore
ye be
witnesses
unto yourselves,
that ye
are the children
of them which
killed the prophets.
Fill ye up
then the measure
of your fathers.
Ye serpents,
ye generation
of vipers,
how can
ye escape
the damnation
of hell?
Wherefore,
behold,
I send
unto you prophets,
and wise men,
and scribes:
and some of them
ye shall kill
and crucify;
and some of them
shall
ye scourge
in your synagogues,
and persecute them
from city to city:
That upon you
may come all
the righteous blood
shed
upon the earth,
from the blood
of righteous Abel
unto the blood
of Zacharias son
of Barachias,
whom
ye slew between the temple
and the altar.
For the kingdom
of heaven
is as a man
travelling
into a far country,
who called
his own servants,
and delivered
unto them his goods.
And unto one
he gave five talents,
to another two,
and to another one;
to every man
according to
his several ability;
and straightway took
his journey.
Then he
that
had received
the five talents
went
and traded
with the same,
and made them
other five talents.
And likewise
he that
had received two,
he also gained
other two.
But he
that
had received
one went
and digged
in the earth,
and hid his lord's money.
After a
long time
the lord
of those servants cometh,
and
reckoneth with them.
And so
he that
had received
five talents
came
and brought
other five talents,
saying,
Lord,
thou deliveredst
unto me five talents:
behold,
I have gained beside them
five talents more.
His lord said
unto him,
Well done,
thou good
and faithful servant:
thou hast been faithful
over a few things,
I will make thee ruler
over many things:
enter
thou
into the joy
of thy lord.
He also
that
had received
two talents
came
and said,
Lord,
thou deliveredst
unto me two talents:
behold,
I have gained
two other talents
beside them.
His lord said
unto him,
Well done,
good
and faithful servant;
thou hast been faithful
over a few things,
I will make thee ruler
over many things:
enter
thou
into the joy
of thy lord.
Then he
which had received
the one talent
came
and said,
Lord,
I knew thee
that thou art
an hard man,
reaping
where thou
hast not sown,
and gathering
where thou
hast not strawed:
And I
was afraid,
and went
and hid
thy talent
in the earth:
lo,
there
thou hast
that is thine.
His lord answered
and said unto him,
Thou wicked
and slothful servant,
thou knewest that
I reap
where I
sowed not,
and gather
where I
have not strawed:
Thou oughtest therefore
to have put my money
to the exchangers,
and
then
at my coming
I should have received
mine
own
with usury.
Take
therefore the talent
from him,
and give it
unto him which
hath ten talents.
For unto every one
that hath
shall be given,
and
he shall have abundance:
but from him that
hath not
shall be taken away even that
which he hath.
And cast
ye the unprofitable servant
into outer darkness:
there shall be weeping
and gnashing
of teeth.
When Pilate
saw that
he could prevail nothing,
but
that rather a tumult
was made,
he took water,
and washed
his hands
before the multitude,
saying,
I am innocent
of the blood
of this
just person:
see ye to it.
Then answered all
the people,
and said,
His blood
be on us,
and on our children.
And whosoever
shall not receive you,
nor hear you,
when ye
depart thence,
shake
off the dust
under your feet
for a testimony
against them.
Verily
I say unto you,
It shall be more tolerable
for Sodom
and Gomorrha
in the day
of judgment,
than
for that city.
He spake also
this parable;
A certain man
had
a fig tree
planted
in his vineyard;
and he
came
and sought fruit thereon,
and found none.
Then said
he unto the dresser
of his vineyard,
Behold,
these three years
I come seeking fruit
on this fig tree,
and find none:
cut it down;
why cumbereth it
the ground?
And
he answering
said unto him,
Lord,
let it alone
this year also,
till I
shall dig
about it,
and dung it:
And
if it
bear fruit,
well:
and if not,
then
after that thou
shalt cut it down.
And he looked up,
and saw
the rich men
casting
their gifts
into the treasury.
And he
saw also
a certain poor widow casting
in thither two mites.
And he said,
Of a truth
I say unto you,
that this poor widow
hath cast in
more than
they all:
For all
these have
of their abundance
cast in
unto the offerings
of God:
but
she of her penury
hath cast in all
the living that
she had.
He that believeth
on him is not condemned:
but
he that believeth
not is condemned already,
because
he hath not believed
in the name
of the only begotten Son
of God.
And this
is the condemnation,
that light
is come
into the world,
and men
loved
darkness rather than light,
because
their deeds were evil.
Jesus
said unto them,
If ye
were blind,
ye should have
no sin:
but now
ye say,
We see;
therefore your sin remaineth.
He that
rejecteth me,
and receiveth not
my words,
hath
one that
judgeth him:
the word that
I have spoken,
the same
shall judge him
in the last day.
If I
had not come
and
spoken unto them,
they had not had sin:
but now
they
have
no cloak
for their sin.
He that
hateth me
hateth
my Father also.
If I
had not done
among them the works
which none other man did,
they had not had sin:
but now have
they both seen
and hated both me
and my Father.
And the times
of this ignorance
God winked at;
but now commandeth all men every
where to repent:
Because
he hath appointed a day,
in the which
he will judge
the world
in righteousness
by that man whom
he hath ordained;
whereof
he hath given assurance
unto all men,
in that
he hath raised him
from the dead.
For I say,
through the grace given
unto me,
to every man
that is
among you,
not
to think
of himself
more highly than
he ought to think;
but
to think soberly,
according as God
hath dealt
to every man
the measure
of faith.
Having
then gifts
differing according to
the grace
that is given to us,
whether prophecy,
let us
prophesy
according to
the proportion
of faith;
Or ministry,
let us
wait on our ministering:
or he
that teacheth,
on teaching;
Or he
that exhorteth,
on exhortation:
he that giveth,
let him
do it
with simplicity;
he that ruleth,
with diligence;
he that
sheweth mercy,
with cheerfulness.
Now he that
planteth
and he
that watereth
are one:
and every man
shall receive
his own
reward
according to
his own labour.
Every man's work
shall be made manifest:
for the day
shall declare it,
because
it shall be revealed
by fire;
and the fire
shall try
every man's work
of what sort it is.
If any man's work
abide
which he
hath built thereupon,
he shall receive
a reward.
If any man's work
shall be burned,
he shall suffer loss:
but
he himself
shall be saved;
yet so
as by fire.
For every man
shall bear
his own burden.
But unto every one
of us is given grace
according to the measure
of the gift
of Christ.
O Timothy,
keep that
which is committed
to thy trust,
avoiding profane
and vain babblings,
and oppositions
of science falsely so called:
And I
will kill
her children
with death;
and all
the churches
shall know that
I am
he which
searcheth the reins
and hearts:
and I
will give
unto every one
of you
according to your works.
