And Moses
said
unto the LORD,
O my LORD,
I am not eloquent,
neither heretofore,
nor
since thou
hast spoken
unto thy servant:
but I
am slow
of speech,
and
of a slow tongue.
And the LORD
said unto him,
Who hath made
man's mouth?
or who
maketh the dumb,
or deaf,
or the seeing,
or the blind?
have not I the LORD?
Now therefore go,
and I
will be
with thy mouth,
and teach thee
what
thou shalt say.
And
the Spirit
of God
came upon
Azariah the son
of Oded:
And he
went out
to meet Asa,
and
said unto him,
Hear ye me,
Asa,
and all Judah
and Benjamin;
The LORD
is with you,
while ye
be with him;
and
if ye
seek him,
he will be found
of you;
but
if ye
forsake him,
he will forsake you.
Now for a long season Israel
hath been
without the true God,
and
without a teaching priest,
and
without law.
But
when
they
in their trouble
did turn unto the LORD God
of Israel,
and sought him,
he was found of them.
And
in those times
there was
no peace
to him
that went out,
nor to him
that came in,
but great vexations
were upon all
the inhabitants
of the countries.
And nation
was destroyed
of nation,
and city of city:
for God
did vex them
with all adversity.
Be ye strong therefore,
and let not
your hands
be weak:
for your work
shall be rewarded.
And
when Asa
heard these words,
and the prophecy
of Oded the prophet,
he took courage,
and put away
the abominable idols
out of all the land
of Judah
and Benjamin,
and
out of the cities
which he
had taken
from mount Ephraim,
and renewed
the altar
of the LORD,
that was before the porch
of the LORD.
And
he gathered all Judah
and Benjamin,
and the strangers
with them out of Ephraim
and Manasseh,
and
out of Simeon:
for they fell
to him out of Israel
in abundance,
when
they saw
that the LORD
his God
was with him.
So they
gathered themselves
together at Jerusalem
in the third month,
in the fifteenth year
of the reign
of Asa.
And they
offered
unto the LORD
the same time,
of the spoil
which they
had brought,
seven hundred oxen
and seven thousand sheep.
And they
entered
into a covenant
to seek
the LORD God
of their fathers
with all their heart
and
with all their soul;
That whosoever
would not seek
the LORD God
of Israel
should be put
to death,
whether small
or great,
whether man
or woman.
And
they sware unto the LORD
with a loud voice,
and
with shouting,
and
with trumpets,
and
with cornets.
And all Judah
rejoiced
at the oath:
for they
had sworn
with all
their heart,
and sought him
with their whole desire;
and
he was found of them:
and the LORD
gave them
rest round about.
And
at that time
Hanani the seer
came
to Asa king
of Judah,
and
said unto him,
Because
thou hast relied on
the king
of Syria,
and not relied on
the LORD thy God,
therefore is the host
of the king
of Syria
escaped
out of thine hand.
Were not
the Ethiopians
and the Lubims
a huge host,
with very many chariots
and horsemen?
yet,
because
thou didst rely on
the LORD,
he delivered them
into thine hand.
For the eyes
of the LORD
run
to and fro
throughout the whole earth,
to shew himself strong
in the behalf
of them whose heart
is perfect toward him.
Herein
thou hast done foolishly:
therefore from
henceforth
thou shalt have wars.
Then Asa
was wroth
with the seer,
and put him
in a prison house;
for he
was in a rage
with him
because of this thing.
And Asa
oppressed
some of the people
the same time.
And
the king
of Israel
said unto Jehoshaphat,
There
is yet
one man,
by whom
we may enquire
of the LORD:
but I
hate him;
for he
never prophesied good
unto me,
but always evil:
the same
is Micaiah
the son
of Imla.
And Jehoshaphat said,
Let not
the king say so.
And
the king
of Israel
called for one
of his officers,
and said,
Fetch quickly
Micaiah the son
of Imla.
And the king
of Israel and
Jehoshaphat king
of Judah
sat either
of them
on his throne,
clothed
in their robes,
and they
sat
in a void place
at the entering in
of the gate
of Samaria;
and all
the prophets
prophesied
before them.
And Zedekiah
the son
of Chenaanah
had made him horns
of iron,
and said,
Thus saith the LORD,
With these
thou shalt push Syria
until they
be consumed.
And all
the prophets
prophesied so,
saying,
Go up to Ramothgilead,
and prosper:
for the LORD
shall deliver it
into the hand
of the king.
And the messenger
that
went to call Micaiah
spake
to him,
saying,
Behold,
the words
of the prophets
declare good
to the king
with one assent;
let thy
word therefore,
I pray thee,
be like one
of their's,
and speak
thou good.
And Micaiah said,
As the LORD liveth,
even
what my God saith,
that will
I speak.
And
when he
was come
to the king,
the king
said unto him,
Micaiah,
shall
we go
to Ramothgilead
to battle,
or shall
I forbear?
And he said,
Go ye up,
and prosper,
and
they shall be delivered
into your hand.
And the king
said
to him,
How many
times
shall
I adjure thee
that thou
say nothing
but the truth to me
in the name
of the LORD?
Then he said,
I did see all
Israel
scattered
upon the mountains,
as sheep
that have
no shepherd:
and the LORD said,
These
have
no master;
let them
return
therefore every man
to his house
in peace.
And
the king
of Israel
said to Jehoshaphat,
Did I
not tell thee that
he would not prophesy good
unto me,
but evil?
Again
he said,
Therefore
hear the word
of the LORD;
I saw
the LORD
sitting
upon his throne,
and all
the host
of heaven
standing
on his right hand
and
on his left.
And the LORD said,
Who shall entice Ahab king
of Israel,
that he
may go
up and fall
at Ramothgilead?
And one
spake
saying after this manner,
and another
saying after that manner.
Then there came
out a spirit,
and stood
before the LORD,
and said,
I will entice him.
And the LORD
said unto him,
Wherewith?
And he said,
I will go out,
and be
a lying spirit
in the mouth
of all his prophets.
And the Lord said,
Thou shalt entice him,
and
thou shalt also prevail:
go out,
and do even so.
Now therefore,
behold,
the LORD
hath put
a lying spirit
in the mouth
of these thy prophets,
and the LORD
hath spoken evil
against thee.
Then Zedekiah
the son
of Chenaanah
came near,
and smote Micaiah
upon the cheek,
and said,
Which way
went the Spirit
of the LORD
from me
to speak
unto thee?
And Micaiah said,
Behold,
thou shalt see
on that day
when
thou shalt go
into an inner chamber
to hide thyself.
Then
the king
of Israel said,
Take ye Micaiah,
and carry him
back to Amon
the governor
of the city,
and
to Joash
the king's son;
And say,
Thus saith the king,
Put this fellow
in the prison,
and feed him
with bread
of affliction and
with water
of affliction,
until I
return
in peace.
The words
of the Preacher,
the son of David,
king
in Jerusalem.
I the Preacher
was king
over Israel
in Jerusalem.
But Jonah
rose up to
flee
unto Tarshish
from the presence
of the LORD,
and went down
to Joppa;
and
he found
a ship
going
to Tarshish:
so he
paid
the fare thereof,
and went down
into it,
to go
with them
unto Tarshish
from the presence
of the LORD.
And saying,
Repent ye:
for the kingdom
of heaven is at hand.
From that time Jesus
began to preach,
and to say,
Repent:
for the kingdom
of heaven is at hand.
And seeing
the multitudes,
he went up
into a mountain:
and
when he
was set,
his disciples
came unto him:
At that time Jesus
answered
and said,
I thank thee,
O Father,
Lord
of heaven
and earth,
because
thou hast
hid these things
from the wise
and prudent,
and hast revealed them
unto babes.
Even so,
Father:
for so
it seemed good
in thy sight.
John did baptize
in the wilderness,
and preach
the baptism
of repentance
for the remission
of sins.
Now after that John
was put in prison,
Jesus came
into Galilee,
preaching the gospel
of the kingdom
of God,
And saying,
The time
is fulfilled,
and
the kingdom
of God
is at hand:
repent ye,
and believe
the gospel.
And straightway many
were gathered together,
insomuch that
there was
no room
to receive them,
no,
not
so much as about the door:
and he
preached
the word
unto them.
And
they went out,
and preached
that men
should repent.
And he
came
into all
the country
about Jordan,
preaching the baptism
of repentance
for the remission
of sins;
And
he closed
the book,
and he
gave it
again to the minister,
and sat down.
And the eyes
of all
them
that
were in the synagogue
were fastened on him.
And he
entered
into one
of the ships,
which was Simon's,
and prayed him that
he would thrust
out a little
from the land.
And he sat down,
and taught
the people
out of the ship.
And it
came
to pass afterward,
that he
went throughout every city
and village,
preaching
and shewing
the glad tidings
of the kingdom
of God:
and the twelve
were with him,
But Peter,
standing up
with the eleven,
lifted
up his voice,
and
said unto them,
Ye men of Judaea,
and all
ye that
dwell
at Jerusalem,
be this
known unto you,
and hearken
to my words:
For these
are not drunken,
as ye suppose,
seeing
it is
but the third hour
of the day.
But this
is that which
was spoken
by the prophet Joel;
And it
shall come
to pass
in the last days,
saith God,
I will pour
out of my Spirit
upon all flesh:
and your sons
and your daughters
shall prophesy,
and your young men
shall see visions,
and your old men
shall dream dreams:
And on my servants
and on my handmaidens
I will pour out
in those days
of my Spirit;
and
they shall prophesy:
And
I will shew wonders
in heaven above,
and signs
in the earth
beneath;
blood,
and fire,
and vapour
of smoke:
The sun
shall be turned into
darkness,
and the moon
into blood,
before the great
and notable day
of the Lord come:
And it
shall come
to pass,
that whosoever
shall call on
the name
of the Lord
shall be saved.
Ye men of Israel,
hear these words;
Jesus
of Nazareth,
a man
approved
of God among you
by miracles
and wonders
and signs,
which God
did by him
in the midst
of you,
as ye yourselves
also know:
Him,
being delivered
by the determinate
counsel
and foreknowledge
of God,
ye have taken,
and
by wicked hands
have crucified
and slain:
Whom God
hath raised up,
having loosed the pains
of death:
because
it was not possible
that
he should be holden of it.
For David
speaketh concerning him,
I foresaw the Lord
always before my face,
for he
is on my right hand,
that I
should not be moved:
Therefore did
my heart rejoice,
and my tongue
was glad;
moreover also my flesh
shall rest
in hope:
Because
thou wilt not leave
my soul in hell,
neither wilt
thou suffer
thine Holy One
to see corruption.
Thou hast made
known
to me the ways
of life;
thou shalt make me
full of joy
with thy countenance.
Men and brethren,
let me
freely speak
unto you
of the patriarch David,
that he
is both dead
and buried,
and his sepulchre
is with us
unto this day.
Therefore being
a prophet,
and knowing
that God
had sworn
with an oath
to him,
that of the fruit
of his loins,
according to the flesh,
he would raise
up Christ to
sit
on his throne;
He seeing this
before spake of the resurrection
of Christ,
that his soul
was not left
in hell,
neither his flesh
did see corruption.
This Jesus
hath
God raised up,
whereof
we all are witnesses.
Therefore being
by the right hand
of God exalted,
and having received
of the Father
the promise
of the Holy Ghost,
he hath
shed forth this,
which ye
now see
and hear.
For David
is not ascended
into the heavens:
but
he saith himself,
The Lord
said unto my Lord,
Sit
thou
on my right hand,
Until I
make
thy foes thy footstool.
Therefore let all the house
of Israel
know assuredly,
that God
hath made
the same Jesus,
whom
ye have crucified,
both Lord
and Christ.
Now
when
they heard this,
they were pricked
in their heart,
and said
unto Peter
and to the rest
of the apostles,
Men and brethren,
what shall
we do?
Then Peter
said unto them,
Repent,
and be baptized every one
of you
in the name
of Jesus Christ
for the remission
of sins,
and
ye shall receive
the gift
of the Holy Ghost.
For the promise
is unto you,
and to your children,
and
to all
that are afar off,
even as many
as the LORD
our God
shall call.
And
with many other words
did
he testify
and exhort,
saying,
Save yourselves
from this
untoward generation.
Then they
that
gladly received
his word
were baptized:
and the same day
there were added
unto them
about three thousand souls.
Then Philip
went down
to the city
of Samaria,
and preached Christ
unto them.
And the people
with one accord
gave
heed
unto those things
which Philip spake,
hearing
and seeing
the miracles
which he did.
For unclean spirits,
crying
with loud voice,
came out of many that
were possessed with them:
and many taken
with palsies,
and that
were lame,
were healed.
And there was great
joy
in that city.
But there was
a certain man,
called Simon,
which beforetime in
the same city used sorcery,
and bewitched
the people
of Samaria,
giving out
that himself
was some great one:
To whom
they all gave heed,
from the least
to the greatest,
saying,
This man
is the great power
of God.
And to him
they had regard,
because
that of long time
he had bewitched them
with sorceries.
But
when
they believed Philip
preaching
the things
concerning
the kingdom
of God,
and the name
of Jesus Christ,
they were baptized,
both men
and women.
And
he arose
and went:
and,
behold,
a man
of Ethiopia,
an eunuch
of great authority
under Candace queen
of the Ethiopians,
who had the charge
of all her treasure,
and had come
to Jerusalem
for to worship,
Was returning,
and sitting
in his chariot
read Esaias
the prophet.
Then the Spirit
said
unto Philip,
Go near,
and join thyself
to this chariot.
And Philip
ran thither
to him,
and heard him
read the prophet Esaias,
and said,
Understandest thou
what thou readest?
And he said,
How can I,
except some man
should guide me?
And
he desired
Philip that
he would come
up and
sit with him.
The place
of the scripture
which he read
was this,
He was led
as a sheep
to the slaughter;
and like
a lamb dumb
before his shearer,
so opened
he not
his mouth:
In his humiliation
his judgment
was taken away:
and
who shall declare
his generation?
for his life
is taken
from the earth.
And the eunuch
answered Philip,
and said,
I pray thee,
of whom speaketh the prophet this?
of himself,
or of some other man?
Then Philip
opened his mouth,
and began at the same scripture,
and preached
unto him Jesus.
And as they
went on their way,
they came
unto a certain water:
and the eunuch said,
See,
here is water;
what doth hinder me
to be baptized?
And Philip said,
If thou
believest with all
thine heart,
thou mayest.
And he
answered
and said,
I believe
that Jesus Christ
is the Son
of God.
And he
commanded
the chariot
to stand still:
and
they went down both
into the water,
both Philip
and the eunuch;
and
he baptized him.
And straightway
he preached Christ
in the synagogues,
that he
is the Son
of God.
Then Paul stood up,
and beckoning
with his hand said,
Men of Israel,
and
ye that fear God,
give audience.
The God
of this people
of Israel
chose our fathers,
and exalted
the people
when they
dwelt
as strangers
in the land
of Egypt,
and
with an high arm
brought
he them
out of it.
And
about the time
of forty years
suffered
he their manners
in the wilderness.
And
when
he had destroyed seven nations
in the land
of Chanaan,
he divided
their land
to them
by lot.
And after that
he gave unto them judges
about the space
of four hundred
and fifty years,
until Samuel
the prophet.
And afterward
they desired
a king:
and God
gave unto them Saul
the son of Cis,
a man
of the tribe
of Benjamin,
by the space
of forty years.
And
when
he had removed him,
he raised up
unto them David
to be their king;
to whom
also he
gave their testimony,
and said,
I have found David
the son
of Jesse,
a man
after mine own heart,
which shall fulfil all my will.
Of this man's seed
hath God
according to
his promise raised
unto Israel
a Saviour, Jesus:
When John
had first preached
before his coming the baptism
of repentance
to all the people
of Israel.
And as John
fulfilled
his course,
he said,
Whom
think
ye that I am?
I am not he.
But,
behold,
there cometh one
after me,
whose shoes
of his feet
I am not worthy
to loose.
Men and brethren,
children
of the stock
of Abraham,
and whosoever
among you
feareth God,
to you
is the word
of this salvation sent.
For they
that dwell
at Jerusalem,
and their rulers,
because
they knew him not,
nor yet
the voices
of the prophets which
are read every sabbath day,
they have fulfilled them
in condemning him.
And though they
found
no cause
of death
in him,
yet desired
they Pilate that
he should be slain.
And when they
had fulfilled all
that was written of him,
they took him down
from the tree,
and laid him
in a sepulchre.
But God
raised him
from the dead:
And
he was seen many days
of them which
came up with him from Galilee
to Jerusalem,
who are his witnesses
unto the people.
And we
declare unto you glad tidings,
how that
the promise
which was made
unto the fathers,
God hath fulfilled
the same
unto us their children,
in that
he hath raised
up Jesus again;
as it is also written
in the second psalm,
Thou art my Son,
this day
have
I begotten thee.
And as concerning
that
he raised him up
from the dead,
now
no more
to return
to corruption,
he said
on this wise,
I will give
you the sure mercies
of David.
Wherefore
he saith also
in another psalm,
Thou
shalt not suffer
thine Holy One
to see corruption.
For David,
after he had served
his own generation
by the will
of God,
fell on sleep,
and was laid
unto his fathers,
and saw
corruption:
But he,
whom God
raised again,
saw no corruption.
Be it
known
unto you therefore,
men and brethren,
that through this man
is preached
unto you
the forgiveness
of sins:
And by him all
that believe
are justified
from all things,
from which
ye could not be justified
by the law
of Moses.
Beware therefore,
lest
that come upon you,
which is spoken of
in the prophets;
Behold,
ye despisers,
and wonder,
and perish:
for I
work a work
in your days,
a work
which ye
shall in no wise believe,
though a man
declare it
unto you.
And when the Jews
were gone
out of the synagogue,
the Gentiles
besought
that these
words
might be preached
to them
the next sabbath.
Now
when the congregation
was broken up,
many of the Jews
and religious proselytes
followed Paul
and Barnabas:
who,
speaking to them,
persuaded them
to continue
in the grace
of God.
Then Paul
and Barnabas
waxed bold,
and said,
It was necessary
that the word
of God
should first have been spoken
to you:
but seeing
ye put it
from you,
and judge yourselves unworthy
of everlasting life,
lo,
we turn
to the Gentiles.
Opening and alleging,
that Christ
must needs have suffered,
and risen again
from the dead;
and
that this Jesus,
whom
I preach
unto you,
is Christ.
For Christ
sent me not
to baptize,
but to preach
the gospel:
not with wisdom
of words,
lest the cross
of Christ
should be made
of none effect.
For the preaching
of the cross
is
to them
that perish foolishness;
but unto us which
are saved
it is the power
of God.
For after that
in the wisdom
of God the world
by wisdom
knew not God,
it pleased God
by the foolishness
of preaching
to save them
that believe.
But we
preach Christ crucified,
unto the Jews
a stumblingblock,
and
unto the Greeks foolishness;
But God
hath chosen
the foolish things
of the world
to confound the wise;
and God
hath chosen
the weak things
of the world
to confound
the things which
are mighty;
And base things
of the world,
and things which
are despised,
hath
God chosen,
yea,
and things which
are not,
to bring
to nought things
that are:
That no flesh
should glory
in his presence.
And I,
brethren,
when I
came
to you,
came not
with excellency
of speech
or of wisdom,
declaring
unto you
the testimony
of God.
For I
determined not
to know any thing
among you,
save Jesus Christ,
and him crucified.
And
I was with you
in weakness,
and in fear,
and in much trembling.
And my speech
and my preaching
was not
with enticing words
of man's wisdom,
but in demonstration
of the Spirit
and of power:
That your faith
should not stand
in the wisdom
of men,
but in the power
of God.
Howbeit
we speak wisdom
among them that
are perfect:
yet not
the wisdom
of this world,
nor
of the princes
of this world,
that come
to nought:
But we
speak
the wisdom
of God
in a mystery,
even the hidden wisdom,
which God
ordained
before the world
unto our glory:
Which none of the princes
of this world knew:
for had
they known it,
they would not have crucified
the Lord
of glory.
Now
we have received,
not the spirit
of the world,
but the spirit
which is of God;
that we
might know
the things
that are freely given to us
of God.
Which things also
we speak,
not in the words
which man's wisdom teacheth,
but which the Holy Ghost teacheth;
comparing
spiritual things
with spiritual.
Follow
after charity,
and desire
spiritual gifts,
but rather that
ye may prophesy.
For he
that
speaketh in an unknown tongue
speaketh not
unto men,
but unto God:
for no man
understandeth him;
howbeit
in the spirit
he speaketh mysteries.
But he
that prophesieth
speaketh unto men
to edification,
and exhortation,
and comfort.
He that
speaketh in an unknown tongue
edifieth himself;
but he
that prophesieth
edifieth the church.
I would
that ye
all spake
with tongues
but rather that
ye prophesied:
for greater
is
he that
prophesieth
than
he that
speaketh with tongues,
except he interpret,
that the church
may receive edifying.
Now,
brethren,
if I come
unto you
speaking
with tongues,
what shall
I profit you,
except I
shall speak
to you either
by revelation,
or by knowledge,
or by prophesying,
or by doctrine?
And even
things
without life giving sound,
whether pipe
or harp,
except they
give a distinction
in the sounds,
how shall
it be known
what is piped
or harped?
For if
the trumpet
give an uncertain sound,
who shall prepare himself
to the battle?
So likewise ye,
except ye
utter
by the tongue
words easy
to be understood,
how shall
it be known
what is spoken?
for ye
shall speak
into the air.
There are,
it may be,
so many kinds
of voices
in the world,
and none of them
is without signification.
Therefore if
I know not
the meaning
of the voice,
I shall be
unto him that
speaketh a barbarian,
and he
that speaketh
shall be
a barbarian
unto me.
Even so ye,
forasmuch as ye
are zealous
of spiritual gifts,
seek
that ye
may excel to the edifying
of the church.
Wherefore let him
that
speaketh in an unknown tongue
pray that
he may interpret.
For if
I pray
in an unknown tongue,
my spirit prayeth,
but my understanding
is unfruitful.
What is it then?
I will pray
with the spirit,
and I
will pray
with the understanding also:
I will sing
with the spirit,
and I
will sing
with the understanding also.
Else when thou
shalt bless
with the spirit,
how shall
he that
occupieth
the room
of the unlearned
say Amen at thy
giving of thanks,
seeing
he understandeth not
what thou sayest?
For thou
verily givest
thanks well,
but the other
is not edified.
I thank my God,
I speak
with tongues
more than
ye all:
Yet in the church
I had rather
speak five words
with my understanding,
that by my voice
I might teach others also,
than ten thousand
words
in an unknown tongue.
Brethren,
be not children
in understanding:
howbeit in malice
be
ye children,
but
in understanding
be men.
But
if all prophesy,
and there come in
one that believeth not,
or one unlearned,
he is convinced
of all,
he is judged
of all:
And thus
are the secrets
of his heart made manifest;
and so
falling down
on his face
he will worship God,
and report
that God
is in you
of a truth.
Now thanks
be unto God,
which always causeth us
to triumph
in Christ,
and maketh
manifest the savour
of his knowledge by us
in every place.
For we
are unto God
a sweet savour
of Christ,
in them that
are saved,
and
in them that perish:
To the one
we are the savour
of death
unto death;
and to the other the savour
of life
unto life.
And
who is sufficient
for these things?
Seeing
then that
we have
such hope,
we use great plainness
of speech:
And not as Moses,
which put
a vail
over his face,
that the children
of Israel
could not stedfastly look
to the end
of that which
is abolished:
If ye
continue
in the faith
grounded
and settled,
and be not moved away
from the hope
of the gospel,
which ye
have heard,
and which
was preached
to every creature
which is under heaven;
whereof
I Paul
am made
a minister;
Who now rejoice
in my sufferings
for you,
and fill up
that which
is behind of the afflictions
of Christ
in my flesh
for his body's sake,
which is the church:
Whereof
I am made
a minister,
according to
the dispensation
of God which
is given to me
for you,
to fulfil
the word
of God;
Even
the mystery which
hath been
hid from ages
and from generations,
but now is made
manifest
to his saints:
To whom God
would make
known
what is the riches
of the glory
of this mystery
among the Gentiles;
which is Christ
in you,
the hope
of glory:
Whom
we preach,
warning every man,
and teaching
every man
in all wisdom;
that we
may present
every man
perfect
in Christ Jesus:
Whereunto
I also labour,
striving according to
his working,
which worketh in me mightily.
For our gospel
came not unto you
in word only,
but also in power,
and
in the Holy Ghost,
and
in much assurance;
as ye
know
what manner
of men
we were among you
for your sake.
For our exhortation
was not
of deceit,
nor
of uncleanness,
nor in guile:
But as we
were allowed
of God
to be put in
trust
with the gospel,
even so
we speak;
not as pleasing men,
but God,
which trieth our hearts.
For neither
at any time
used
we flattering words,
as ye know,
nor a cloke
of covetousness;
God is witness:
Nor of men
sought
we glory,
neither of you,
nor
yet of others,
when
we might have been burdensome,
as the apostles
of Christ.
But
we were gentle
among you,
even as
a nurse
cherisheth her children:
So being affectionately desirous
of you,
we were willing
to have imparted
unto you,
not the gospel
of God only,
but
also our own souls,
because
ye were dear
unto us.
For ye remember,
brethren,
our labour
and travail:
for labouring
night and day,
because
we would not be chargeable
unto any of you,
we preached
unto you
the gospel
of God.
Ye are witnesses,
and God also,
how holily
and justly
and unblameably
we behaved ourselves
among you
that believe:
As ye
know how
we exhorted
and comforted
and charged
every one of you,
as a father
doth his children,
That ye
would walk worthy
of God,
who hath called you
unto his kingdom
and glory.
O Timothy,
keep that
which is committed
to thy trust,
avoiding profane
and vain babblings,
and oppositions
of science falsely so called:
Which some professing
have erred concerning the faith.
Grace be
with thee.
Amen.
Study to shew
thyself
approved
unto God,
a workman that
needeth not
to be ashamed,
rightly dividing the word
of truth.
But shun
profane
and vain babblings:
for they
will increase
unto more ungodliness.
But hath
in due times
manifested
his word
through preaching,
which is committed
unto me according to
the commandment
of God our Saviour;
This is a faithful saying,
and these things
I will
that thou
affirm constantly,
that they which
have believed
in God
might be careful
to maintain good works.
These things
are good
and profitable
unto men.
But avoid
foolish questions,
and genealogies,
and contentions,
and strivings
about the law;
for they
are unprofitable
and vain.
And spared not
the old world,
but saved Noah
the eighth person,
a preacher
of righteousness,
bringing
in the flood
upon the world
of the ungodly;
