And God said,
Let there be light:
and there was light.
And God
saw the light,
that it
was good:
and God
divided
the light
from the darkness.
And God
called the light Day,
and the darkness
he called Night.
And the evening
and the morning
were the first day.
And unto his son
will
I give one tribe,
that David my servant
may have a light
alway before me
in Jerusalem,
the city which
I have chosen me
to put my name there.
The LORD
is my light
and my salvation;
whom shall
I fear?
the LORD
is the strength
of my life;
of whom shall
I be afraid?
The day
is thine,
the night
also is thine:
thou hast prepared
the light
and the sun.
Thy word
is a lamp
unto my feet,
and a light
unto my path.
The entrance
of thy
words
giveth light;
it giveth
understanding unto the simple.
For the commandment
is a lamp;
and the law
is light;
and
reproofs
of instruction
are the way of life:
Then I
saw
that wisdom
excelleth folly,
as far as light
excelleth darkness.
To the law
and to the testimony:
if they
speak not according to
this word,
it is
because
there is
no light in them.
I form the light,
and create darkness:
I make peace,
and create evil:
I the LORD
do all
these things.
And he said,
It is
a light thing
that thou
shouldest be my servant
to raise
up the tribes
of Jacob,
and
to restore the preserved
of Israel:
I will also give thee
for a light
to the Gentiles,
that thou
mayest be my salvation
unto the end
of the earth.
Then shall
thy light
break forth
as the morning,
and thine health
shall spring
forth speedily:
and thy righteousness
shall go
before thee;
the glory
of the LORD
shall be
thy rereward.
The sun
shall be
no more thy
light
by day;
neither for brightness
shall
the moon
give
light
unto thee:
but the LORD
shall be
unto thee
an everlasting light,
and thy God thy glory.
Thy sun
shall no more go down;
neither shall
thy moon
withdraw itself:
for the LORD
shall be
thine everlasting light,
and the days
of thy
mourning
shall be ended.
The people which
sat in darkness
saw great light;
and to them which
sat
in the region
and shadow
of death
light
is sprung up.
Ye are the light
of the world.
A city
that is set
on an hill cannot be hid.
Let your light so
shine before men,
that they
may see
your good works,
and glorify
your Father
which is in heaven.
And was transfigured
before them:
and his face
did shine
as the sun,
and his raiment
was white
as the light.
A light
to lighten the Gentiles,
and the glory
of thy people Israel.
The light
of the body
is the eye:
therefore when thine
eye
is single,
thy whole body
also is
full of light;
but
when thine
eye
is evil,
thy body
also is
full of darkness.
And the lord
commended
the unjust steward,
because
he had done wisely:
for the children
of this world
are in their generation wiser
than the children
of light.
In him was life;
and the life
was the light
of men.
And the light
shineth in darkness;
and the darkness
comprehended it not.
The same
came
for a witness,
to bear
witness
of the Light,
that all men
through him might believe.
He was not
that Light,
but was sent
to bear
witness of that Light.
That was the true Light,
which lighteth
every man
that cometh into the world.
And this
is the condemnation,
that light
is come
into the world,
and men
loved
darkness rather than light,
because
their deeds were evil.
For every one
that
doeth
evil hateth the light,
neither cometh to the light,
lest
his deeds
should be reproved.
But
he that
doeth truth
cometh to the light,
that his deeds
may be made manifest,
that they
are wrought
in God.
He was
a burning
and a shining light:
and
ye were willing
for a season
to rejoice
in his light.
Then spake Jesus
again unto them,
saying,
I am the light
of the world:
he that
followeth me
shall not walk
in darkness,
but shall have
the light
of life.
As long
as I am in the world,
I am the light
of the world.
Then Jesus
said unto them,
Yet a little
while is the light
with you.
Walk
while ye
have the light,
lest darkness
come upon you:
for he
that
walketh in darkness
knoweth not whither
he goeth.
While ye
have light,
believe
in the light,
that ye
may be the children
of light.
These things
spake Jesus,
and departed,
and
did hide himself from them.
And as he journeyed,
he came
near Damascus:
and
suddenly there shined round
about him a light
from heaven:
To open their eyes,
and
to turn them
from darkness
to light,
and
from the power
of Satan
unto God,
that they
may receive forgiveness
of sins,
and inheritance
among them which
are sanctified
by faith
that is in me.
For God,
who commanded the light
to shine out of darkness,
hath shined
in our hearts,
to give the light
of the knowledge
of the glory
of God
in the face
of Jesus Christ.
For ye
were sometimes
darkness,
but now are
ye light
in the Lord:
walk as children
of light:
Wherefore
he saith,
Awake
thou
that sleepest,
and arise
from the dead,
and Christ
shall give thee light.
That ye
may be
blameless
and harmless,
the sons of God,
without rebuke,
in the midst
of a crooked
and perverse nation,
among whom
ye shine
as lights
in the world;
Ye are all the children
of light,
and the children
of the day:
we are not
of the night,
nor
of darkness.
Who only hath
immortality,
dwelling
in the light which no man
can approach unto;
whom no man
hath seen,
nor can see:
to whom
be honour
and power everlasting.
Amen.
Every good gift
and every perfect gift
is from above,
and cometh down
from the Father
of lights,
with whom
is no variableness,
neither shadow
of turning.
But
ye are a chosen generation,
a royal priesthood,
an holy nation,
a peculiar people;
that ye
should shew
forth the praises
of him
who hath called
you out of darkness
into his marvellous light;
We have also
a more sure word
of prophecy;
whereunto
ye do well
that
ye take heed,
as unto a light
that shineth in a dark place,
until the day dawn,
and the day
star
arise
in your hearts:
This
then is the message
which we
have heard of him,
and declare
unto you,
that God
is light,
and
in him is no darkness
at all.
But
if we
walk
in the light,
as he
is in the light,
we have fellowship one
with another,
and the blood
of Jesus Christ
his Son
cleanseth us
from all sin.
And the city
had no
need
of the sun,
neither of the moon,
to shine in it:
for the glory
of God
did lighten it,
and the Lamb
is
the light thereof.
