And God
blessed the seventh day,
and sanctified it:
because
that in it
he had rested
from all
his work which God
created and made.
And
when Abram
was
ninety years old
and nine,
the LORD
appeared
to Abram,
and
said unto him,
I am the Almighty God;
walk before me,
and be
thou perfect.
And Jacob
was left alone;
and there wrestled a man
with him
until the breaking
of the day.
And
when
he saw
that he
prevailed not against him,
he touched the hollow
of his thigh;
and
the hollow
of Jacob's thigh
was out of joint,
as he wrestled with him.
And he said,
Let me go,
for the day breaketh.
And he said,
I will not let
thee go,
except thou
bless me.
And
he said unto him,
What
is thy name?
And he said,
Jacob.
And he said,
Thy name
shall be called
no more Jacob,
but Israel:
for as a prince
hast
thou power
with God
and with men,
and hast prevailed.
And Jacob
asked him,
and said,
Tell me,
I pray thee,
thy name.
And he said,
Wherefore is it
that thou
dost ask
after my name?
And
he blessed him there.
And Jacob
called
the name
of the place Peniel:
for I
have seen God
face to face,
and my life
is preserved.
And
he blessed Joseph,
and said,
God,
before whom
my fathers Abraham
and Isaac
did walk,
the God which
fed me all my life long
unto this day,
The Angel which
redeemed me
from all evil,
bless the lads;
and let
my name
be named on them,
and the name
of my fathers Abraham
and Isaac;
and let them
grow
into a multitude
in the midst
of the earth.
Behold,
I send
an Angel
before thee,
to keep thee
in the way,
and
to bring thee
into the place
which I
have prepared.
Beware of him,
and obey
his voice,
provoke him not;
for he
will not pardon
your transgressions:
for my name
is in him.
And when Gideon
perceived
that he
was an angel
of the LORD,
Gideon said,
Alas, O LORD God!
for because
I have seen
an angel
of the LORD face to face.
And the LORD
said unto him,
Peace
be
unto thee;
fear not:
thou shalt not die.
Then Gideon
built
an altar
there unto the LORD,
and called
it Jehovahshalom:
unto this day
it is yet in Ophrah
of the Abiezrites.
But
the angel
of the LORD
did no more
appear
to Manoah
and to his wife.
Then Manoah
knew
that he
was an angel
of the LORD.
And Manoah
said
unto his wife,
We shall surely die,
because
we have seen God.
There is none holy
as the LORD:
for there is none beside thee:
neither is there
any rock like
our God.
Thou,
even thou,
art LORD alone;
thou hast made
heaven,
the heaven
of heavens,
with all their host,
the earth,
and all things
that are therein,
the seas,
and all that is
therein,
and
thou preservest them all;
and
the host
of heaven
worshippeth thee.
For I
know
that my redeemer
liveth,
and
that he
shall stand
at the latter day
upon the earth:
And
though after my skin worms
destroy this body,
yet in my flesh
shall
I see God:
Whom
I shall see
for myself,
and mine
eyes
shall behold,
and not another;
though my reins
be consumed within me.
Lift
up your heads,
O ye gates;
and be
ye lift up,
ye everlasting doors;
and the King
of glory
shall come in.
Who is this King
of glory?
The LORD
of hosts,
he is the King
of glory.
Selah.
Thy throne,
O God,
is for ever
and ever:
the sceptre
of thy kingdom
is a right sceptre.
Thou lovest righteousness,
and hatest wickedness:
therefore God,
thy God,
hath anointed thee
with the oil
of gladness
above thy fellows.
For thou,
LORD,
art high above all the earth:
thou art exalted far above all
gods.
I said,
O my God,
take me not
away in the midst
of my days:
thy years
are throughout all generations.
Of old
hast
thou laid
the foundation
of the earth:
and the heavens
are the work
of thy hands.
They shall perish,
but
thou shalt endure:
yea,
all of them
shall wax old like
a garment;
as a vesture
shalt
thou change them,
and
they shall be changed:
But
thou art
the same,
and thy years
shall have no end.
The LORD
said unto my Lord,
Sit
thou
at my right hand,
until I
make
thine enemies thy footstool.
The LORD
hath made all things
for himself:
yea,
even the wicked
for the day
of evil.
Who hath ascended up
into heaven,
or descended?
who hath gathered
the wind
in his fists?
who hath bound
the waters
in a garment?
who hath established all
the ends
of the earth?
what is his name,
and
what is his son's name,
if thou canst tell?
For God
shall bring
every work
into judgment,
with every secret thing,
whether it
be good,
or whether
it be evil.
In the year
that king Uzziah
died
I saw also
the LORD
sitting
upon a throne,
high
and lifted up,
and his train
filled the temple.
Above it
stood
the seraphims:
each one
had six wings;
with twain
he covered
his face,
and with twain
he covered
his feet,
and with twain
he did fly.
And one
cried
unto another,
and said,
Holy,
holy,
holy,
is the LORD
of hosts:
the whole earth
is full of
his glory.
Therefore
the Lord himself
shall give
you a sign;
Behold,
a virgin
shall conceive,
and bear a son,
and shall call
his name Immanuel.
Sanctify the LORD
of hosts himself;
and let him
be your fear,
and let him
be your dread.
And
he shall be
for a sanctuary;
but for a stone
of stumbling and
for a rock
of offence
to both
the houses
of Israel,
for a gin
and for a snare
to the inhabitants
of Jerusalem.
For unto us a child
is born,
unto us a son
is given:
and the government
shall be
upon his shoulder:
and his name
shall be called
Wonderful, Counsellor,
The mighty God,
The everlasting Father,
The Prince
of Peace.
The voice
of him that
crieth in the wilderness,
Prepare
ye the way
of the LORD,
make straight
in the desert
a highway
for our God.
O Zion,
that bringest good tidings,
get thee up
into the high mountain;
O Jerusalem,
that bringest good tidings,
lift up thy
voice
with strength;
lift it up,
be not afraid;
say
unto the cities
of Judah,
Behold your God!
Behold,
the Lord GOD
will come
with strong hand,
and his arm
shall rule for him:
behold,
his reward
is with him,
and his work
before him.
He shall feed
his flock like a shepherd:
he shall gather the lambs
with his arm,
and carry them
in his bosom,
and shall gently lead
those that
are with young.
Hast
thou not known?
hast
thou not heard,
that the everlasting God,
the LORD,
the Creator
of the ends
of the earth,
fainteth not,
neither is weary?
there is
no
searching
of his understanding.
Thus
saith
the LORD
the King
of Israel,
and his redeemer
the LORD
of hosts;
I am the first,
and
I am the last;
and beside me there is
no God.
Hearken unto me,
O Jacob
and Israel,
my called;
I am he;
I am the first,
I also am
the last.
Mine hand
also hath laid the foundation
of the earth,
and my right hand
hath spanned
the heavens:
when
I call unto them,
they stand up together.
All ye,
assemble yourselves,
and hear;
which among them hath declared
these things?
The LORD
hath loved him:
he will do his pleasure
on Babylon,
and his arm
shall be
on the Chaldeans.
I,
even I,
have spoken;
yea,
I have called him:
I have brought him,
and
he shall make
his way prosperous.
Come
ye near unto me,
hear ye this;
I have not spoken
in secret
from the beginning;
from the time
that it was,
there am I:
and
now the Lord GOD,
and his Spirit,
hath sent me.
Behold,
the days come,
saith the LORD,
that I
will raise
unto David
a righteous Branch,
and a King
shall reign and
prosper,
and shall execute judgment
and justice
in the earth.
In his days Judah
shall be saved,
and Israel
shall dwell safely:
and this
is
his name
whereby
he shall be called,
THE LORD OUR RIGHTEOUSNESS.
For how can
the servant
of this
my lord talk
with this my lord?
for as for me,
straightway there remained
no strength
in me,
neither
is there
breath
left in me.
But
I will have mercy
upon the house
of Judah,
and will save them
by the LORD their God,
and will not save them
by bow,
nor by sword,
nor by battle,
by horses,
nor
by horsemen.
He took his brother
by the heel
in the womb,
and
by his strength
he had
power
with God:
Yea,
he had
power
over the angel,
and prevailed:
he wept,
and made supplication
unto him:
he found him
in Bethel,
and
there
he spake with us;
Even the LORD God
of hosts;
the LORD
is his memorial.
And it
shall come
to pass,
that whosoever
shall call on
the name
of the LORD
shall be delivered:
for in
mount Zion and
in Jerusalem
shall be
deliverance,
as the LORD
hath said,
and
in the remnant whom
the LORD
shall call.
Awake,
O sword,
against my shepherd,
and against the man
that is
my fellow,
saith the LORD
of hosts:
smite the shepherd,
and the sheep
shall be scattered:
and
I will turn mine hand
upon the little ones.
Behold,
I will send
my messenger,
and
he shall prepare
the way
before me:
and the LORD,
whom
ye seek,
shall suddenly come
to his temple,
even the messenger
of the covenant,
whom
ye delight in:
behold,
he shall come,
saith the LORD
of hosts.
Behold,
a virgin
shall be
with child,
and shall bring forth a son,
and
they shall call
his name Emmanuel,
which being interpreted is,
God with us.
For this
is
he that
was spoken of
by the prophet Esaias,
saying,
The voice of one
crying
in the wilderness,
Prepare
ye the way
of the Lord,
make his paths straight.
And,
behold,
they cried out,
saying,
What
have
we to do
with thee,
Jesus,
thou Son
of God?
art
thou come hither
to torment us
before the time?
But that
ye may know that
the Son
of man
hath
power
on earth
to forgive sins,
(then saith
he to the sick
of the palsy,)
Arise,
take up
thy bed,
and go
unto thine house.
All things
are delivered
unto me
of my Father:
and no man
knoweth the Son,
but the Father;
neither knoweth any man
the Father,
save the Son,
and
he to whomsoever
the Son
will reveal him.
For the Son
of man
is Lord
even of the sabbath day.
Saying,
What
think
ye of Christ?
whose son is he?
They say unto him,
The son
of David.
He saith unto them,
How then
doth
David in spirit
call him Lord,
saying,
The LORD
said unto my Lord,
Sit
thou
on my right hand,
till I
make
thine enemies thy footstool?
If David then
call him Lord,
how is he his son?
But Jesus
held his peace,
And the high priest
answered
and
said unto him,
I adjure thee
by the living God,
that thou
tell us
whether thou
be the Christ,
the Son
of God.
Jesus
saith unto him,
Thou hast said:
nevertheless
I say unto you,
Hereafter
shall
ye see
the Son
of man
sitting
on the right hand
of power,
and coming in
the clouds
of heaven.
Then the high priest
rent his clothes,
saying,
He hath spoken
blasphemy;
what further need
have
we of witnesses?
behold,
now ye
have heard
his blasphemy.
What think ye?
They answered
and said,
He is guilty
of death.
Then did
they spit
in his face,
and buffeted him;
and others
smote him
with the palms
of their hands,
And
when
they saw him,
they worshipped him:
but some doubted.
But
when he
saw Jesus
afar off,
he ran
and worshipped him,
And cried
with a loud voice,
and said,
What
have
I to do
with thee,
Jesus,
thou Son
of the most high God?
I adjure thee
by God,
that thou
torment me not.
And Jesus
answering
said unto him,
It is said,
Thou
shalt not tempt
the Lord thy God.
And
in the synagogue
there was a man,
which had
a spirit
of an unclean devil,
and cried out
with a loud voice,
Saying,
Let us alone;
what have
we to do
with thee,
thou Jesus
of Nazareth?
art
thou come
to destroy us?
I know thee
who thou art;
the Holy One
of God.
This is he,
of whom
it is written,
Behold,
I send
my messenger
before thy face,
which shall prepare
thy way
before thee.
And
they were all amazed
at the mighty power
of God.
But
while they
wondered every one
at all
things which Jesus did,
he said
unto his disciples,
Let these sayings
sink down
into your ears:
for the Son
of man
shall be delivered
into the hands
of men.
In the beginning
was the Word,
and the Word
was with God,
and the Word
was God.
The same
was in the beginning
with God.
All things
were made by him;
and without him was not
any thing
made that
was made.
And the Word
was made flesh,
and
dwelt among us,
(and
we beheld
his glory,
the glory as
of the only begotten
of the Father,)
full of grace
and truth.
No man
hath seen God
at any time,
the only begotten Son,
which is in the bosom
of the Father,
he hath declared him.
For God so
loved the world,
that he
gave his only begotten Son,
that whosoever believeth
in him should not perish,
but have
everlasting life.
He that believeth
on him is not condemned:
but
he that believeth
not is condemned already,
because
he hath not believed
in the name
of the only begotten Son
of God.
He that
cometh from above
is above all:
he that is
of the earth
is earthly,
and speaketh of the earth:
he that
cometh from heaven
is above all.
But Jesus
answered them,
My Father
worketh hitherto,
and I work.
Therefore the Jews
sought the more
to kill him,
because
he not only had broken
the sabbath,
but said also
that God
was his Father,
making himself
equal with God.
For as the Father
raiseth up the dead,
and quickeneth them;
even so
the Son
quickeneth whom
he will.
For the Father
judgeth no man,
but hath committed all judgment
unto the Son:
That all men
should honour
the Son,
even as
they honour
the Father.
He that
honoureth not
the Son
honoureth not
the Father
which hath sent him.
Then the Jews
took up
stones again
to stone him.
Jesus answered them,
Many good works
have
I shewed you
from my Father;
for which of those works
do ye stone me?
The Jews
answered him,
saying,
For a good work
we stone thee not;
but for blasphemy;
and
because
that thou,
being a man,
makest thyself God.
But if I do,
though ye
believe not me,
believe the works:
that ye
may know,
and believe,
that the Father
is in me,
and I in him.
These things
said Esaias,
when
he saw his glory,
and
spake of him.
And he
that seeth me
seeth him that sent me.
If ye
had known me,
ye should have known
my Father also:
and from henceforth
ye know him,
and have seen him.
Philip
saith unto him,
Lord,
shew us
the Father,
and it
sufficeth us.
Jesus
saith unto him,
Have I
been so long
time with you,
and yet hast
thou not known me,
Philip?
he that
hath seen me
hath seen
the Father;
and how sayest
thou then,
Shew us
the Father?
Believest
thou
not
that I
am in the Father,
and the Father
in me?
the words that
I speak unto you
I speak not
of myself:
but the Father
that dwelleth in me,
he doeth the works.
And
I will pray
the Father,
and
he shall give you
another Comforter,
that he
may abide
with you
for ever;
But
when the Comforter
is come,
whom
I will send
unto you
from the Father,
even the Spirit
of truth,
which proceedeth
from the Father,
he shall testify of me:
And all mine
are thine,
and thine
are mine;
and
I am glorified in them.
And Thomas
answered
and
said unto him,
My LORD and my God.
But
ye denied
the Holy One
and the Just,
and desired
a murderer
to be granted
unto you;
This is that Moses,
which said
unto the children
of Israel,
A prophet
shall
the Lord your God
raise up
unto you
of your brethren,
like unto me;
him shall
ye hear.
This is he,
that was in the church
in the wilderness
with the angel which
spake to him
in the mount Sina,
and
with our fathers:
who received
the lively oracles
to give unto us:
To whom our fathers
would not obey,
but
thrust him from them,
and
in their hearts
turned
back again
into Egypt,
The word which God
sent
unto the children
of Israel,
preaching peace
by Jesus Christ:
(he is Lord of all:)
Take heed therefore
unto yourselves,
and
to all the flock,
over the which the Holy Ghost
hath made
you overseers,
to feed the church
of God,
which he
hath purchased
with his own blood.
To all
that be in Rome,
beloved of God,
called to be saints:
Grace to you
and peace
from God our Father,
and the Lord Jesus Christ.
Whose are the fathers,
and of whom as
concerning
the flesh Christ came,
who is over all,
God blessed
for ever.
Amen.
For the scripture saith,
Whosoever believeth
on him shall not be ashamed.
For there is no difference
between the Jew
and the Greek:
for the same Lord
over all is rich
unto all that call
upon him.
For whosoever
shall call upon the name
of the Lord
shall be saved.
Unto the church
of God which
is at Corinth,
to them
that are sanctified
in Christ Jesus,
called to be saints,
with all
that in every place call
upon the name
of Jesus Christ our Lord,
both their's
and our's:
But of him are
ye in Christ Jesus,
who of God
is made
unto us wisdom,
and righteousness,
and sanctification,
and redemption:
Therefore judge nothing
before the time,
until the Lord come,
who both
will bring
to light
the hidden things
of darkness,
and will make
manifest the counsels
of the hearts:
and then
shall
every man
have
praise
of God.
But to us
there is
but one God,
the Father,
of whom are all things,
and we in him;
and one Lord Jesus Christ,
by whom are all things,
and we by him.
Neither let us
tempt Christ,
as some of them
also tempted,
and were destroyed
of serpents.
The first man
is of the earth,
earthy;
the second man
is the Lord
from heaven.
For we must all appear
before the judgment seat
of Christ;
that every one
may receive
the things
done in his body,
according to
that
he hath done,
whether it
be
good
or bad.
Paul,
an apostle,
(not of men,
neither by man,
but by Jesus Christ,
and God
the Father,
who raised him
from the dead;)
Grace be
to you and peace
from God the Father,
and
from our Lord Jesus Christ,
Grace be to you,
and peace,
from God our Father,
and
from the Lord Jesus Christ.
Peace be
to the brethren,
and love
with faith,
from God
the Father
and the Lord Jesus Christ.
Who,
being in the form
of God,
thought it
not robbery to be
equal
with God:
For by him were all
things created,
that are in heaven,
and that
are in earth,
visible
and invisible,
whether they
be thrones,
or dominions,
or principalities,
or powers:
all things
were created by him,
and for him:
And
he is before all things,
and by him all
things consist.
Now God himself
and our Father,
and our Lord Jesus Christ,
direct our way
unto you.
Now our Lord Jesus Christ himself,
and God,
even our Father,
which hath loved us,
and hath given us
everlasting consolation
and good hope
through grace,
Comfort your hearts,
and stablish you
in every good word
and work.
And
without controversy great
is the mystery
of godliness:
God was
manifest
in the flesh,
justified
in the Spirit,
seen of angels,
preached
unto the Gentiles,
believed on
in the world,
received up
into glory.
I charge thee
therefore before God,
and the Lord Jesus Christ,
who shall judge
the quick
and the dead
at his appearing
and his kingdom;
Looking for
that blessed hope,
and the glorious appearing
of the great God
and our Saviour Jesus Christ;
Who being the brightness
of his glory,
and the express image
of his person,
and upholding all things
by the word
of his power,
when he
had by himself
purged
our sins,
sat down
on the right hand
of the Majesty
on high:
But unto the Son
he saith,
Thy throne,
O God,
is for ever
and ever:
a sceptre
of righteousness
is the sceptre
of thy kingdom.
And,
Thou, Lord,
in the beginning
hast laid
the foundation
of the earth;
and the heavens
are the works
of thine hands:
They shall perish;
but
thou remainest;
and
they all shall wax old
as doth a garment;
And as a vesture
shalt
thou
fold them up,
and
they shall be changed:
but
thou art
the same,
and thy years
shall not fail.
Now the God
of peace,
that brought again
from the dead our Lord Jesus,
that great shepherd
of the sheep,
through the blood
of the everlasting covenant,
And a stone
of stumbling,
and a rock
of offence,
even to them
which stumble
at the word,
being disobedient:
whereunto also
they were appointed.
In this
was manifested
the love
of God
toward us,
because
that God
sent
his only begotten Son
into the world,
that we
might live through him.
And we
know that
the Son
of God
is come,
and hath given us
an understanding,
that we
may know him
that is true,
and
we are in him
that is true,
even in his Son Jesus Christ.
This is the true God,
and eternal life.
And
from Jesus Christ,
who is the faithful witness,
and the first begotten
of the dead,
and the prince
of the kings
of the earth.
Unto him that
loved us,
and washed us
from our sins
in his own blood,
And
when I
saw him,
I fell
at his feet
as dead.
And he
laid
his right hand
upon me,
saying unto me,
Fear not;
I am the first
and the last:
These shall make
war with the Lamb,
and the Lamb
shall overcome them:
for he
is Lord of lords,
and King
of kings:
and they
that are with him
are called,
and chosen,
and faithful.
I am Alpha
and Omega,
the beginning
and the end,
the first
and the last.
