For I
know him,
that he
will command
his children
and his household
after him,
and
they shall keep
the way
of the LORD,
to do justice
and judgment;
that the LORD
may bring
upon Abraham
that which
he hath spoken of him.
Moreover thou
shalt provide
out of all
the people able men,
such as
fear God,
men of truth,
hating covetousness;
and place such
over them,
to be rulers
of thousands,
and rulers
of hundreds,
rulers
of fifties,
and rulers
of tens:
Thou shalt not wrest
judgment;
thou shalt not respect persons,
neither take
a gift:
for a gift
doth blind
the eyes
of the wise,
and pervert
the words
of the righteous.
That which
is
altogether just shalt
thou follow,
that thou
mayest live,
and inherit
the land
which the LORD thy God
giveth thee.
Thou knowest that
I am not wicked;
and there is none
that can deliver
out of thine hand.
Though he
slay me,
yet will
I trust in him:
but
I will maintain mine own ways
before him.
Not for any injustice
in mine hands:
also my prayer
is pure.
My lips
shall not speak
wickedness,
nor my tongue utter deceit.
I put on
righteousness,
and it
clothed me:
my judgment
was as a robe
and a diadem.
O LORD my God,
If I
have done this;
if there be iniquity
in my hands;
Let the enemy
persecute
my soul,
and take it;
yea,
let him
tread
down my life
upon the earth,
and lay mine
honour
in the dust.
Selah.
The LORD
shall judge
the people:
judge me,
O LORD,
according to
my righteousness,
and
according to
mine integrity
that is in me.
Lord,
who shall abide in
thy tabernacle?
who shall dwell
in thy holy hill?
He that
walketh uprightly,
and worketh righteousness,
and speaketh
the truth
in his heart.
He that
backbiteth not
with his tongue,
nor doeth evil
to his neighbour,
nor taketh up a reproach
against his neighbour.
In whose eyes
a vile person
is contemned;
but
he honoureth them
that fear the LORD.
He that
sweareth to his own hurt,
and changeth not.
He that
putteth not
out his money
to usury,
nor taketh
reward against the innocent.
He that
doeth
these things
shall never be moved.
Thou hast proved
mine heart;
thou hast visited me
in the night;
thou hast tried me,
and shalt find
nothing;
I am purposed
that my mouth
shall not transgress.
The LORD
rewarded me according to
my righteousness;
according to
the cleanness
of my hands
hath
he recompensed me.
Who shall ascend
into the hill
of the LORD?
or who
shall stand
in his holy place?
He that
hath clean hands,
and a pure heart;
who hath not lifted
up his soul
unto vanity,
nor sworn deceitfully.
He shall receive the blessing
from the LORD,
and righteousness
from the God
of his salvation.
Judge me,
O LORD;
for I
have walked
in mine integrity:
I have trusted also
in the LORD;
therefore I
shall not slide.
Examine me,
O LORD,
and prove me;
try my reins
and my heart.
For thy lovingkindness
is before mine eyes:
and
I have walked
in thy truth.
They that hate
me without a cause
are more than
the hairs
of mine head:
they that
would destroy me,
being mine enemies wrongfully,
are mighty:
then
I restored that
which I
took
not away.
If I say,
I will speak thus;
behold,
I should offend
against the generation
of thy children.
I have done judgment
and justice:
leave me not
to mine oppressors.
So that thou
incline thine ear
unto wisdom,
and apply
thine heart
to understanding;
Let not mercy
and truth
forsake thee:
bind them
about thy neck;
write them
upon the table
of thine heart:
So shalt
thou find
favour
and good understanding
in the sight
of God and man.
Let thine
eyes
look right on,
and let
thine eyelids
look straight
before thee.
Ponder the path
of thy feet,
and let all
thy ways
be established.
Turn not
to the right hand nor
to the left:
remove
thy foot
from evil.
He that
walketh
uprightly walketh
surely:
but he
that
perverteth
his ways
shall be known.
The integrity
of the upright
shall guide them:
but the perverseness
of transgressors
shall destroy them.
Lying lips
are abomination
to the LORD:
but
they that deal
truly are
his delight.
A sound heart
is the life
of the flesh:
but envy
the rottenness
of the bones.
Folly
is
joy to him
that is destitute
of wisdom:
but a man
of understanding
walketh uprightly.
A just weight
and balance
are the LORD's:
all
the weights
of the bag are his work.
Better is the poor
that walketh in his integrity,
than
he that is perverse
in his lips,
and is a fool.
The just man
walketh in his integrity:
his children
are blessed
after him.
To do justice
and judgment
is more acceptable
to the LORD
than sacrifice.
It is
joy to the just
to do judgment:
but destruction
shall be to the workers
of iniquity.
He that
loveth pureness
of heart,
for the grace
of his lips
the king
shall be
his friend.
A faithful man
shall abound
with blessings:
but he
that maketh
haste to be rich
shall not be innocent.
The way
of the just is uprightness:
thou,
most upright,
dost weigh
the path
of the just.
He that
walketh righteously,
and speaketh uprightly;
he that
despiseth
the gain
of oppressions,
that shaketh
his hands
from holding
of bribes,
that stoppeth
his ears
from hearing
of blood,
and shutteth
his eyes
from seeing evil;
He shall dwell
on high:
his place
of defence
shall be the munitions
of rocks:
bread shall be given him;
his waters shall be sure.
Thus saith the LORD,
Keep ye judgment,
and do justice:
for my salvation
is near to come,
and my righteousness
to be revealed.
For if
ye throughly amend
your ways
and your doings;
if ye
throughly execute judgment
between a man
and his neighbour;
Then will
I cause
you
to dwell
in this place,
in the land
that I
gave to your fathers,
for ever
and ever.
Behold,
ye trust
in lying words,
that cannot profit.
Will
ye steal,
murder,
and commit
adultery,
and swear falsely,
and burn
incense
unto Baal,
and walk
after other gods whom
ye know not;
He hath shewed thee,
O man,
what is good;
and what
doth
the LORD
require of thee,
but to do justly,
and to love mercy,
and
to walk humbly
with thy God?
Thus
speaketh
the LORD
of hosts,
saying,
Execute true judgment,
and shew mercy
and compassions every man
to his brother:
The law
of truth
was in his mouth,
and iniquity
was not found
in his lips:
he walked with me
in peace
and equity,
and did turn many
away from iniquity.
And
he said unto them,
Exact no
more than
that which
is appointed you.
And as ye
would
that men
should do to you,
do ye
also to them likewise.
But woe unto you,
Pharisees!
for ye
tithe
mint
and rue
and all manner
of herbs,
and pass
over judgment
and the love
of God:
these ought
ye to have done,
and not
to leave
the other undone.
He that is faithful
in that which
is least
is faithful
also in much:
and
he that is unjust
in the least
is unjust
also in much.
And herein do
I exercise myself,
to have always
a conscience void
to offence
toward God,
and toward men.
I say
the truth
in Christ,
I lie not,
my conscience
also bearing me
witness
in the Holy Ghost,
Wherefore
ye must needs be subject,
not
only for wrath,
but also for conscience sake.
One man
esteemeth
one day above
another:
another esteemeth every day alike.
Let every man
be fully persuaded
in his own mind.
But have renounced
the hidden things
of dishonesty,
not walking
in craftiness,
nor handling
the word
of God deceitfully;
but by manifestation
of the truth
commending ourselves
to every man's conscience
in the sight
of God.
Receive us;
we have wronged
no man,
we have corrupted
no man,
we have defrauded
no man.
Providing
for honest things,
not
only in the sight
of the Lord,
but also in the sight
of men.
Finally,
brethren,
whatsoever things
are true,
whatsoever things
are honest,
whatsoever things
are just,
whatsoever things
are pure,
whatsoever things
are lovely,
whatsoever
things are of good report;
if there be any virtue,
and if
there be
any praise,
think
on these things.
Servants,
obey
in all things
your masters
according to the flesh;
not with eyeservice,
as menpleasers;
but in singleness
of heart,
fearing God;
But as we
were allowed
of God
to be put in
trust
with the gospel,
even so
we speak;
not as pleasing men,
but God,
which trieth our hearts.
Now
the end
of the commandment
is charity
out of a pure heart,
and
of a good conscience,
and
of faith unfeigned:
Holding the mystery
of the faith
in a pure conscience.
For a bishop
must be blameless,
as the steward
of God;
not selfwilled,
not soon angry,
not given
to wine,
no striker,
not given
to filthy lucre;
Pray for us:
for we
trust
we have
a good conscience,
in all
things willing
to live honestly.
Having your conversation honest
among the Gentiles:
that,
whereas
they speak
against you
as evildoers,
they may by your good works,
which they
shall behold,
glorify God
in the day
of visitation.
Having a good conscience;
that,
whereas
they speak evil
of you,
as of evildoers,
they may be ashamed
that falsely accuse
your good conversation
in Christ.
