And Adam said,
This is now bone
of my bones,
and flesh
of my flesh:
she shall be called Woman,
because
she
was taken out of Man.
Therefore shall
a man
leave his father
and his mother,
and shall cleave
unto his wife:
and
they shall be
one flesh.
When a man
hath taken
a new wife,
he shall not
go out to war,
neither shall
he be charged
with any business:
but
he shall be
free at home one year,
and shall cheer
up his wife
which he
hath taken.
Drink waters
out of thine own cistern,
and running
waters
out of thine own well.
Let thy fountains
be dispersed abroad,
and rivers
of waters
in the streets.
Let them
be only
thine own,
and not strangers'
with thee.
Let thy fountain
be blessed:
and rejoice
with the wife
of thy youth.
Let her
be
as the loving hind
and pleasant roe;
let her breasts
satisfy thee
at all times;
and be
thou ravished always
with her love.
Live joyfully
with the wife whom
thou lovest all
the days
of the life
of thy vanity,
which he
hath given thee
under the sun,
all the days
of thy vanity:
for that is
thy portion
in this life,
and in thy
labour
which thou
takest under the sun.
For the LORD,
the God
of Israel,
saith that
he hateth
putting away:
for one
covereth violence
with his garment,
saith the LORD
of hosts:
therefore take
heed
to your spirit,
that ye
deal
not treacherously.
Let the husband
render
unto the wife due benevolence:
and likewise
also the wife
unto the husband.
Defraud
ye not
one the other,
except it
be
with consent
for a time,
that ye
may give yourselves
to fasting
and prayer;
and come
together again,
that Satan
tempt you
not for your incontinency.
For the unbelieving husband
is sanctified
by the wife,
and the unbelieving wife
is sanctified
by the husband:
else were your children unclean;
but now are
they holy.
For what
knowest thou,
O wife,
whether thou
shalt save
thy husband?
or how knowest thou,
O man,
whether thou
shalt save
thy wife?
But
he that is married
careth
for the things
that are of the world,
how he
may please
his wife.
But I
would have
you know,
that the head
of every man
is Christ;
and the head
of the woman
is the man;
and
the head
of Christ is God.
Wives,
submit yourselves
unto your own husbands,
as unto the Lord.
For the husband
is the head
of the wife,
even as Christ
is the head
of the church:
and
he is the saviour
of the body.
Therefore as the church
is subject
unto Christ,
so let
the wives
be to their own husbands
in every thing.
Husbands,
love your wives,
even as Christ
also loved
the church,
and gave himself
for it;
That he
might sanctify
and cleanse it
with the washing
of water
by the word,
That he
might present it
to himself
a glorious church,
not having spot,
or wrinkle,
or any such thing;
but
that it
should be holy
and
without blemish.
So ought men
to love their wives
as their own bodies.
He that
loveth
his wife
loveth himself.
For no man
ever yet hated
his own flesh;
but nourisheth
and cherisheth it,
even as the Lord
the church:
For we
are members
of his body,
of his flesh,
and
of his bones.
For this cause
shall a man
leave his father
and mother,
and shall be joined
unto his wife,
and
they two
shall be one flesh.
This is a great mystery:
but
I speak concerning Christ
and the church.
Nevertheless let every one
of you
in particular so
love his wife
even as himself;
and the wife
see that
she reverence her husband.
Wives,
submit yourselves
unto your own husbands,
as it is fit
in the Lord.
But
if any
provide not
for his own,
and specially for those
of his own house,
he hath denied
the faith,
and is worse
than an infidel.
Likewise,
ye husbands,
dwell
with them according to knowledge,
giving
honour
unto the wife,
as unto the weaker vessel,
and
as being heirs
together of the grace
of life;
that your prayers
be not hindered.
