And God
saw that
the wickedness
of man
was great
in the earth,
and
that every imagination
of the thoughts
of his heart
was only evil continually.
And the LORD
smelled a sweet savour;
and the LORD
said
in his heart,
I will not again curse
the ground any more
for man's sake;
for the imagination
of man's heart
is evil
from his youth;
neither will
I again smite
any more every thing living,
as I
have done.
And the LORD
said
unto Moses,
When thou
goest
to return
into Egypt,
see that thou
do all those wonders
before Pharaoh,
which I
have put in
thine hand:
but
I will harden
his heart,
that he
shall not let
the people go.
And
I will harden
Pharaoh's heart,
and multiply
my signs
and my wonders
in the land
of Egypt.
And
he hardened Pharaoh's heart,
that he
hearkened not unto them;
as the LORD
had said.
And
the magicians
of Egypt
did so
with their enchantments:
and Pharaoh's heart
was hardened,
neither did
he hearken unto them;
as the LORD
had said.
But when Pharaoh
saw that
there was respite,
he hardened
his heart,
and
hearkened not unto them;
as the LORD
had said.
And Pharaoh
hardened
his heart
at this time also,
neither would
he let
the people go.
And the LORD
hardened
the heart
of Pharaoh,
and
he hearkened not unto them;
as the LORD
had spoken
unto Moses.
And when Pharaoh
saw that
the rain
and the hail
and the thunders
were ceased,
he sinned yet more,
and hardened
his heart,
he and his servants.
And
the heart
of Pharaoh
was hardened,
neither would
he let
the children
of Israel go;
as the LORD
had spoken
by Moses.
And the LORD
said
unto Moses,
Go in
unto Pharaoh:
for I
have hardened
his heart,
and the heart
of his servants,
that I
might shew
these my signs
before him:
But the LORD
hardened Pharaoh's heart,
so that
he
would not let
the children
of Israel go.
But the LORD
hardened Pharaoh's heart,
and
he would not let them go.
And the LORD
said
unto Moses,
Pharaoh
shall not hearken
unto you;
that my wonders may be multiplied
in the land
of Egypt.
And Moses
and Aaron
did all
these wonders
before Pharaoh:
and the LORD
hardened Pharaoh's heart,
so that
he would not let
the children
of Israel
go out of his land.
And
I will harden
Pharaoh's heart,
that he
shall follow
after them;
and
I will be honoured
upon Pharaoh,
and
upon all his host;
that the Egyptians
may know
that I
am the LORD.
And
they did so.
And the LORD
hardened
the heart
of Pharaoh king
of Egypt,
and he
pursued
after the children
of Israel:
and the children
of Israel
went out
with an high hand.
And I,
behold,
I will harden the hearts
of the Egyptians,
and
they shall follow them:
and
I will get me
honour
upon Pharaoh,
and
upon all his host,
upon his chariots,
and
upon his horsemen.
But
Sihon king
of Heshbon
would not let us
pass by him:
for the LORD
thy God
hardened his spirit,
and made
his heart obstinate,
that he
might deliver him
into thy hand,
as appeareth this day.
O that
there were
such an heart
in them,
that
they would fear me,
and keep all
my commandments
always,
that it
might be well with them,
and with their children for ever!
And
thou shalt love
the LORD thy God
with all thine heart,
and
with all thy soul,
and with all
thy might.
And these words,
which I
command thee
this day,
shall be
in thine heart:
And now,
Israel,
what doth
the LORD thy God
require
of thee,
but to fear
the LORD thy God,
to walk
in all his ways,
and to love him,
and
to serve the LORD
thy God
with all thy heart
and
with all thy soul,
And it
shall come
to pass,
if ye
shall hearken diligently
unto my commandments
which I
command
you this day,
to love the LORD
your God,
and
to serve him
with all your heart
and
with all your soul,
This day
the LORD thy God
hath commanded thee to do
these statutes
and judgments:
thou shalt therefore keep
and do them
with all thine heart,
and
with all thy soul.
Lest
there should be
among you man,
or woman,
or family,
or tribe,
whose heart
turneth away
this day
from the LORD our God,
to go
and serve the gods
of these nations;
lest
there should be
among you
a root
that beareth
gall
and wormwood;
And shalt return
unto the LORD thy God,
and shalt obey
his voice
according to all
that
I command thee
this day,
thou
and thy children,
with all thine heart,
and
with all thy soul;
And the LORD
thy God
will circumcise
thine heart,
and the heart
of thy seed,
to love the LORD
thy God
with all thine heart,
and
with all thy soul,
that thou
mayest live.
And it
shall come
to pass,
when many evils
and troubles
are befallen them,
that this song
shall testify
against them
as a witness;
for it
shall not be forgotten
out of the mouths
of their seed:
for I
know their imagination
which they
go about,
even now,
before I
have brought them
into the land
which I sware.
For it
was of the LORD
to harden their hearts,
that they
should come
against Israel
in battle,
that he
might destroy them utterly,
and that they
might have
no favour,
but that
he might destroy them,
as the LORD
commanded Moses.
Now Hannah,
she spake in her heart;
only her lips moved,
but her voice
was not heard:
therefore Eli
thought
she had been
drunken.
And Hannah prayed,
and said,
My heart
rejoiceth in the LORD,
mine horn
is exalted
in the LORD:
my mouth
is enlarged
over mine enemies;
because
I rejoice
in thy salvation.
Wherefore
then do
ye harden
your hearts,
as the Egyptians
and Pharaoh
hardened their hearts?
when
he had wrought wonderfully
among them,
did they
not let
the people go,
and they departed?
And it
was so,
that when
he had turned
his back
to go
from Samuel,
God gave him
another heart:
and all those signs
came to pass
that day.
And Saul
also went
home to Gibeah;
and there went
with him a band
of men,
whose hearts God
had touched.
But the LORD
said
unto Samuel,
Look
not on his countenance,
or on the height
of his stature;
because
I have refused him:
for the LORD
seeth not
as man seeth;
for man looketh
on the outward appearance,
but the LORD looketh
on the heart.
And Eliab
his eldest brother
heard
when
he spake unto the men;
and Eliab's anger
was kindled
against David,
and he said,
Why camest
thou down hither?
and
with whom
hast
thou left
those few sheep
in the wilderness?
I know thy pride,
and the naughtiness
of thine heart;
for thou art come
down that thou
mightest see
the battle.
And it
came
to pass afterward,
that David's heart
smote him,
because
he had cut off
Saul's skirt.
And what
can
David say more
unto thee?
for thou,
Lord GOD,
knowest thy servant.
That the LORD
may continue
his word
which he
spake concerning me,
saying,
If thy children
take
heed
to their way,
to walk
before me
in truth
with all their heart
and
with all their soul,
there shall not fail
thee (said he) a man
on the throne
of Israel.
Give therefore
thy servant
an understanding heart
to judge thy people,
that I
may discern
between good
and bad:
for who
is able
to judge
this thy so great
a people?
And God
said unto him,
Because
thou hast asked
this thing,
and hast not asked for
thyself long life;
neither hast asked riches
for thyself,
nor hast asked
the life
of thine enemies;
but hast asked for
thyself
understanding
to discern judgment;
Behold,
I have done according to
thy words:
lo,
I have given thee a wise
and an understanding heart;
so that
there was none like thee
before thee,
neither after thee
shall
any arise like
unto thee.
And God
gave Solomon wisdom
and understanding exceeding much,
and largeness
of heart,
even as
the sand
that is
on the sea shore.
Then hear
thou in heaven
thy dwelling place,
and forgive,
and do,
and give
to every man
according to his ways,
whose heart
thou knowest;
(for thou,
even thou only,
knowest the hearts
of all the children
of men;)
Let your heart
therefore be
perfect
with the LORD our God,
to walk
in his statutes,
and to keep
his commandments,
as at this day.
Thou hast indeed smitten Edom,
and thine heart
hath lifted thee up:
glory of this,
and tarry at home:
for why
shouldest
thou meddle
to thy hurt,
that thou
shouldest fall,
even thou,
and Judah
with thee?
Because
thine heart
was tender,
and
thou hast humbled thyself
before the LORD,
when
thou heardest
what
I spake against this place,
and
against the inhabitants
thereof,
that they
should become
a desolation
and a curse,
and hast rent
thy clothes,
and wept
before me;
I also have heard thee,
saith the LORD.
Of Zebulun,
such as went forth
to battle,
expert
in war,
with all instruments
of war,
fifty thousand,
which could keep rank:
they were not
of double heart.
And thou,
Solomon my son,
know
thou the God
of thy father,
and serve him
with a perfect heart
and
with a willing mind:
for the LORD
searcheth all hearts,
and understandeth all
the imaginations
of the thoughts:
if thou
seek him,
he will be found
of thee;
but
if thou
forsake him,
he will cast thee off
for ever.
I know also,
my God,
that thou
triest the heart,
and hast pleasure
in uprightness.
As for me,
in the uprightness
of mine heart
I have willingly offered all
these things:
and now have
I seen
with joy thy people,
which are present here,
to offer willingly
unto thee.
O LORD God
of Abraham, Isaac,
and of Israel,
our fathers,
keep this for
ever in the imagination
of the thoughts
of the heart
of thy people,
and prepare
their heart
unto thee:
And he
did evil,
because
he prepared not
his heart
to seek the LORD.
And next him
was Amasiah
the son
of Zichri,
who willingly offered himself
unto the LORD;
and with him two hundred thousand
mighty men
of valour.
Nevertheless there are
good things
found in thee,
in that thou
hast taken away
the groves
out of the land,
and hast prepared
thine heart to seek God.
Thou sayest,
Lo,
thou hast smitten
the Edomites;
and thine heart
lifteth thee up to boast:
abide
now at home;
why shouldest
thou meddle
to thine hurt,
that thou
shouldest fall,
even thou,
and Judah
with thee?
But
when
he was strong,
his heart
was lifted up to
his destruction:
for he transgressed
against the LORD
his God,
and went into the temple
of the LORD
to burn incense
upon the altar
of incense.
That prepareth
his heart
to seek God,
the LORD God
of his fathers,
though he
be not cleansed according to
the purification
of the sanctuary.
And kept
the feast
of unleavened bread seven days
with joy:
for the LORD
had made them joyful,
and turned
the heart
of the king
of Assyria
unto them,
to strengthen
their hands in the work
of the house
of God,
the God
of Israel.
For Ezra
had prepared
his heart
to seek the law
of the LORD,
and to do it,
and
to teach
in Israel statutes
and judgments.
Blessed
be the LORD God
of our fathers,
which hath put
such a thing
as this
in the king's heart,
to beautify
the house
of the LORD
which is in Jerusalem:
And foundest
his heart faithful
before thee,
and madest a covenant
with him
to give the land
of the Canaanites,
the Hittites,
the Amorites,
and the Perizzites,
and the Jebusites,
and the Girgashites,
to give it,
I say,
to his seed,
and hast performed
thy words;
for thou art righteous:
He is wise
in heart,
and mighty
in strength:
who hath hardened himself
against him,
and hath prospered?
For he
knoweth vain men:
he seeth wickedness also;
will he not
then consider it?
Also now,
behold,
my witness
is in heaven,
and my record
is on high.
For God
maketh my heart soft,
and the Almighty
troubleth me:
Doth not
he see
my ways,
and count all
my steps?
For the LORD
knoweth
the way
of the righteous:
but the way
of the ungodly shall perish.
Stand in awe,
and sin not:
commune
with your own heart
upon your bed,
and be still.
Selah.
Thou hast put gladness
in my heart,
more than in the time
that their corn
and their wine increased.
Oh let
the wickedness
of the wicked
come to an end;
but establish
the just:
for the righteous God
trieth the hearts
and reins.
I will praise thee,
O LORD,
with my whole heart;
I will shew
forth all
thy marvellous works.
LORD,
thou hast heard
the desire
of the humble:
thou wilt prepare
their heart,
thou wilt cause
thine ear
to hear:
They speak
vanity every one
with his neighbour:
with flattering lips
and with a double heart
do they speak.
I am poured
out like water,
and all my bones
are out of joint:
my heart
is like wax;
it is melted
in the midst
of my bowels.
The meek
shall eat
and be satisfied:
they shall praise
the LORD that
seek him:
your heart
shall live
for ever.
He that
hath clean hands,
and a pure heart;
who hath not lifted
up his soul
unto vanity,
nor sworn deceitfully.
Examine me,
O LORD,
and prove me;
try my reins
and my heart.
Though an host
should encamp against me,
my heart
shall not fear:
though war
should rise against me,
in this
will
I be confident.
When thou saidst,
Seek ye
my face;
my heart
said unto thee,
Thy face,
LORD,
will I seek.
Wait on the LORD:
be of good courage,
and
he shall strengthen
thine heart:
wait,
I say,
on the LORD.
Draw me not
away with the wicked,
and
with the workers
of iniquity,
which speak peace
to their neighbours,
but mischief
is in their hearts.
The LORD
is nigh
unto them that
are of a broken heart;
and saveth
such as be
of a contrite spirit.
Shall not
God search
this out?
for he knoweth
the secrets
of the heart.
Create in me a clean heart,
O God;
and renew
a right spirit
within me.
The sacrifices
of God
are a broken spirit:
a broken
and a contrite heart,
O God,
thou wilt not despise.
My heart
is fixed,
O God,
my heart
is fixed:
I will sing
and give praise.
If I
regard iniquity
in my heart,
the Lord
will not hear me:
Truly God
is good
to Israel,
even to
such as are
of a clean heart.
The stouthearted
are spoiled,
they have slept their sleep:
and none of the men
of might have found their hands.
I call
to remembrance
my song
in the night:
I commune
with mine own heart:
and my spirit
made diligent search.
My soul longeth,
yea,
even fainteth
for the courts
of the LORD:
my heart
and my flesh
crieth out
for the living God.
The LORD
knoweth
the thoughts
of man,
that they
are vanity.
Forty years long
was I
grieved
with this generation,
and said,
It is
a people that
do err
in their heart,
and
they have not known
my ways:
Light is sown
for the righteous,
and gladness
for the upright
in heart.
I will behave myself
wisely in a perfect way.
O when
wilt
thou
come unto me?
I will walk within my house
with a perfect heart.
A froward heart
shall depart from me:
I will not know
a wicked person.
Whoso
privily slandereth
his neighbour,
him will
I cut off:
him that
hath
an high look
and a proud heart
will not I suffer.
He shall not be afraid
of evil tidings:
his heart
is fixed,
trusting
in the LORD.
His heart
is established,
he shall not be afraid,
until he
see his desire
upon his enemies.
Blessed are the undefiled
in the way,
who walk
in the law
of the LORD.
With my whole heart
have
I sought thee:
O let me
not wander
from thy commandments.
Blessed art thou,
O LORD:
teach me
thy statutes.
The proud
have forged a lie
against me:
but I
will keep
thy precepts
with my whole heart.
I cried
with my whole heart;
hear me,
O LORD:
I will keep
thy statutes.
Princes
have persecuted me
without a cause:
but my heart
standeth in awe
of thy word.
Do good,
O LORD,
unto those
that be good,
and to them
that are upright
in their hearts.
O lord,
thou hast searched me,
and known me.
Thou knowest
my downsitting and mine uprising,
thou understandest
my thought afar off.
Thou compassest
my path
and my lying down,
and art
acquainted
with all my ways.
For there is not
a word
in my tongue,
but,
lo,
O LORD,
thou knowest it altogether.
Thou
hast beset me behind and before,
and laid
thine hand
upon me.
Such knowledge
is too wonderful
for me;
it is high,
I cannot attain
unto it.
Whither shall
I go
from thy spirit?
or whither shall
I flee
from thy presence?
If I
ascend up
into heaven,
thou art there:
if I
make my bed
in hell,
behold,
thou art there.
If I
take the wings
of the morning,
and dwell
in the uttermost parts
of the sea;
Even there shall
thy hand
lead me,
and thy
right hand
shall hold me.
If I say,
Surely the darkness
shall cover me;
even
the night
shall be
light about me.
Yea,
the darkness
hideth not
from thee;
but the night
shineth as the day:
the darkness
and the light
are both alike
to thee.
Which imagine mischiefs
in their heart;
continually are
they gathered together
for war.
Trust in the LORD
with all thine heart;
and lean not
unto thine
own understanding.
Keep thy heart
with all diligence;
for out of it are the issues
of life.
For the ways
of man
are before the eyes
of the LORD,
and
he pondereth all
his goings.
Frowardness
is in his heart,
he deviseth mischief continually;
he soweth discord.
An heart that
deviseth wicked imaginations,
feet
that be swift
in running
to mischief,
And,
behold,
there met him
a woman
with the attire
of an harlot,
and subtil
of heart.
Receive my instruction,
and not silver;
and knowledge
rather than choice gold.
The wise in heart
will receive
commandments:
but a prating
fool
shall fall.
They that
are of a froward heart
are abomination
to the LORD:
but such as are upright
in their way
are his delight.
He that
troubleth
his own house
shall inherit
the wind:
and the fool
shall be servant
to the wise
of heart.
A man
shall be commended according to
his wisdom:
but he
that is
of a perverse heart
shall be despised.
A prudent man
concealeth knowledge:
but the heart
of fools
proclaimeth foolishness.
A sound heart
is the life
of the flesh:
but envy
the rottenness
of the bones.
Wisdom resteth in the heart
of him that
hath understanding:
but that
which is in the midst
of fools is made known.
A merry heart
maketh a cheerful countenance:
but by sorrow
of the heart
the spirit
is broken.
The heart
of him that
hath
understanding seeketh knowledge:
but the mouth
of fools
feedeth on foolishness.
All the days
of the afflicted
are evil:
but
he that is
of a merry heart
hath a continual feast.
The preparations
of the heart
in man,
and the answer
of the tongue,
is from the LORD.
All the ways
of a man
are clean
in his own eyes;
but the LORD
weigheth the spirits.
The fining
pot
is for silver,
and the furnace
for gold:
but the LORD
trieth the hearts.
He that
hath
a froward heart
findeth
no good:
and he that
hath a perverse tongue
falleth into mischief.
Before destruction the heart
of man
is haughty,
and before honour
is humility.
Who can say,
I have made
my heart clean,
I am pure
from my sin?
The king's heart
is in the hand
of the LORD,
as the rivers
of water:
he turneth it
whithersoever
he will.
Every way
of a man
is right
in his own eyes:
but the LORD
pondereth the hearts.
He that
loveth pureness
of heart,
for the grace
of his lips
the king
shall be
his friend.
Foolishness is bound
in the heart
of a child;
but
the rod
of correction
shall drive it far
from him.
My son,
if thine heart
be wise,
my heart
shall rejoice,
even mine.
For their heart
studieth destruction,
and their lips
talk
of mischief.
Happy
is
the man
that feareth alway:
but
he that
hardeneth
his heart
shall fall
into mischief.
He that is
of a proud heart
stirreth up strife:
but he
that putteth
his trust
in the LORD
shall be made fat.
And
I find more bitter
than death
the woman,
whose heart
is snares
and nets,
and her hands
as bands:
whoso
pleaseth
God
shall escape
from her;
but the sinner
shall be taken
by her.
Because
sentence
against an evil work
is not executed speedily,
therefore the heart
of the sons
of men
is fully set
in them to do evil.
This is
an evil among all
things
that are done
under the sun,
that there is one event
unto all:
yea,
also the heart
of the sons
of men
is
full of evil,
and madness
is in their heart
while they live,
and after that
they go
to the dead.
Make the heart
of this people fat,
and make
their ears heavy,
and shut
their eyes;
lest
they see
with their eyes,
and hear
with their ears,
and understand
with their heart,
and convert,
and be healed.
And all
the people
shall know,
even Ephraim
and the inhabitant
of Samaria,
that say
in the pride
and stoutness
of heart,
Wherefore
it shall come
to pass,
that when the Lord
hath performed
his whole work
upon mount Zion
and
on Jerusalem,
I will punish the fruit
of the stout heart
of the king
of Assyria,
and the glory
of his high looks.
Hearken unto me,
ye stouthearted,
that are far
from righteousness:
Behold,
my servants
shall sing
for joy of heart,
but ye
shall cry
for sorrow
of heart,
and shall howl
for vexation
of spirit.
For I
know their works
and their thoughts:
it shall come,
that I
will gather all nations
and tongues;
and
they shall come,
and see
my glory.
O Jerusalem,
wash thine heart
from wickedness,
that thou
mayest be saved.
How long
shall
thy vain thoughts
lodge
within thee?
Thy way
and thy doings
have procured these things
unto thee;
this is thy wickedness,
because
it is bitter,
because
it reacheth unto thine heart.
My bowels,
my bowels!
I am pained
at my very heart;
my heart
maketh a noise in me;
I cannot hold
my peace,
because
thou hast heard,
O my soul,
the sound
of the trumpet,
the alarm of war.
But this people
hath
a revolting
and a rebellious heart;
they are revolted
and gone.
But,
O LORD of hosts,
that judgest righteously,
that triest
the reins
and the heart,
let me
see thy vengeance
on them:
for unto thee
have
I revealed
my cause.
But thou,
O LORD,
knowest me:
thou hast seen me,
and tried mine heart toward thee:
pull them
out like sheep
for the slaughter,
and prepare them
for the day
of slaughter.
The sin
of Judah
is written
with a pen
of iron,
and
with the point
of a diamond:
it is graven
upon the table
of their heart,
and
upon the horns
of your altars;
Thus saith the LORD;
Cursed
be the man
that trusteth in man,
and maketh flesh his arm,
and whose heart
departeth from the LORD.
The heart
is deceitful above all things,
and desperately wicked:
who can know it?
I the LORD
search
the heart,
I try the reins,
even
to give every man
according to his ways,
and
according to
the fruit
of his doings.
Then I said,
I will not make
mention of him,
nor speak any more
in his name.
But his word
was in mine heart
as a burning fire shut up
in my bones,
and
I was
weary
with forbearing,
and
I could not stay.
But,
O LORD of hosts,
that triest the righteous,
and seest
the reins
and the heart,
let me
see thy vengeance
on them:
for unto thee
have
I opened
my cause.
But thine
eyes
and thine heart
are not
but for thy covetousness,
and for to shed innocent blood,
and
for oppression,
and for violence,
to do it.
And I
will make
an everlasting covenant
with them,
that I
will not turn away from them,
to do them good;
but I
will put
my fear
in their hearts,
that they
shall not depart from me.
We have heard
the pride
of Moab,
(he is exceeding proud)
his loftiness,
and his arrogancy,
and his pride,
and the haughtiness
of his heart.
Thy terribleness
hath deceived thee,
and the pride
of thine heart,
O thou
that dwellest in the clefts
of the rock,
that holdest the height
of the hill:
though thou
shouldest make
thy nest as high
as the eagle,
I will bring thee down
from thence,
saith the LORD.
Mine
eye
affecteth mine heart
because
of all the daughters
of my city.
For they
are impudent children
and stiffhearted.
I do send thee
unto them;
and
thou
shalt say unto them,
Thus saith the Lord GOD.
But
the house
of Israel
will not hearken
unto thee;
for they will not hearken
unto me:
for all
the house
of Israel
are impudent
and hardhearted.
And
they that escape
of you
shall remember me
among the nations
whither
they shall be carried
captives,
because
I am broken
with their whorish heart,
which hath departed from me,
and
with their eyes,
which go
a whoring
after their idols:
and they
shall lothe themselves
for the evils which
they have committed
in all
their abominations.
And
the Spirit
of the LORD
fell upon me,
and said unto me,
Speak;
Thus saith the LORD;
Thus
have
ye said,
O house
of Israel:
for I
know
the things that
come
into your mind,
every one
of them.
And
I will give them
one heart,
and I
will put
a new spirit
within you;
and I
will take
the stony heart
out of their flesh,
and will give them
an heart
of flesh:
That they
may walk
in my statutes,
and keep
mine ordinances,
and do them:
and
they shall be
my people,
and
I will be
their God.
But
as for them whose heart
walketh after the heart
of their detestable things
and their abominations,
I will recompense
their way
upon their own heads,
saith the Lord GOD.
Cast away
from you all
your transgressions,
whereby
ye have transgressed;
and make
you a new heart
and a new spirit:
for why
will
ye die,
O house
of Israel?
Thus saith the Lord GOD;
Because the Philistines
have dealt
by revenge,
and have taken vengeance
with a despiteful heart,
to destroy it
for the old hatred;
A new heart
also will
I give you,
and a new spirit
will
I put within you:
and
I will take away
the stony heart
out of your flesh,
and I
will give
you an heart
of flesh.
But
when his heart
was lifted up,
and his mind
hardened
in pride,
he was deposed
from his kingly throne,
and they
took
his glory
from him:
Their heart
is divided;
now shall
they be found faulty:
he shall break down
their altars,
he shall spoil
their images.
According to their pasture,
so were
they filled;
they were filled,
and their heart
was exalted;
therefore have
they forgotten me.
And
they of Ephraim
shall be like
a mighty man,
and their heart
shall rejoice as
through wine:
yea,
their children
shall see it,
and be glad;
their heart
shall rejoice
in the LORD.
Blessed are the pure
in heart:
for they
shall see God.
And Jesus
knowing
their thoughts said,
Wherefore
think
ye evil
in your hearts?
Take my yoke
upon you,
and learn of me;
for I
am meek and
lowly in heart:
and
ye shall find
rest
unto your souls.
Either make
the tree good,
and his fruit good;
or else
make the tree corrupt,
and his fruit corrupt:
for the tree
is known
by his fruit.
O generation
of vipers,
how can ye,
being evil,
speak good things?
for out of the abundance
of the heart
the mouth speaketh.
A good man
out of the good treasure
of the heart
bringeth forth good things:
and
an evil man
out of the evil treasure
bringeth forth evil things.
But those things
which proceed
out of the mouth
come forth
from the heart;
and
they defile
the man.
For out of the heart
proceed evil thoughts,
murders,
adulteries,
fornications,
thefts,
false witness,
blasphemies:
These are the things
which defile a man:
but
to eat
with unwashen hands
defileth not
a man.
Jesus
said unto him,
Thou shalt love
the Lord thy God
with all thy heart,
and
with all thy soul,
and
with all thy mind.
Thou blind
Pharisee,
cleanse first
that which
is within the cup
and platter,
that the outside
of them may be clean also.
For they considered not
the miracle
of the loaves:
for their heart
was hardened.
For from within,
out of the heart
of men,
proceed evil thoughts,
adulteries,
fornications,
murders,
And Jesus
answered
and
said unto them,
For the hardness
of your heart
he wrote you
this precept.
Afterward
he appeared
unto the eleven
as they
sat
at meat,
and upbraided them
with their unbelief
and hardness
of heart,
because
they believed not them
which had seen him
after he
was risen.
But
that on the good ground
are they,
which in an honest
and good heart,
having heard
the word,
keep it,
and bring forth fruit
with patience.
And
he said unto them,
Ye are they which
justify yourselves
before men;
but God
knoweth your hearts:
for that
which is highly esteemed
among men
is abomination
in the sight
of God.
Jesus
answered
and
said unto him,
Verily,
verily,
I say unto thee,
Except a man
be born again,
he cannot see the kingdom
of God.
Marvel
not
that I
said
unto thee,
Ye must be born again.
He hath blinded
their eyes,
and hardened
their heart;
that they
should not see
with their eyes,
nor understand
with their heart,
and be converted,
and
I should heal them.
And supper
being ended,
the devil
having now put
into the heart
of Judas Iscariot,
Simon's son,
to betray him;
And they prayed,
and said,
Thou, Lord,
which knowest
the hearts
of all men,
shew
whether of these two
thou hast chosen,
And they,
continuing daily
with one accord
in the temple,
and breaking bread
from house to house,
did eat their meat
with gladness
and singleness
of heart,
But Peter said,
Ananias,
why hath
Satan
filled
thine heart
to lie
to the Holy Ghost,
and to keep
back part
of the price
of the land?
Thou hast neither part
nor lot
in this matter:
for thy heart
is not
right in the sight
of God.
Repent therefore
of this thy wickedness,
and pray God,
if perhaps
the thought
of thine heart
may be forgiven thee.
And Saul,
yet breathing
out threatenings
and slaughter
against the disciples
of the Lord,
went unto the high priest,
And desired
of him letters
to Damascus
to the synagogues,
that if
he found any
of this way,
whether they
were men
or women,
he might bring them
bound
unto Jerusalem.
And as he journeyed,
he came
near Damascus:
and
suddenly there shined round
about him a light
from heaven:
And he
fell
to the earth,
and heard
a voice
saying unto him,
Saul, Saul,
why persecutest
thou me?
And he said,
Who art thou,
Lord?
And the Lord said,
I am Jesus whom
thou persecutest:
it is hard
for thee
to kick
against the pricks.
And he
trembling
and astonished said,
Lord,
what wilt thou
have me to do?
And the Lord
said unto him,
Arise,
and go
into the city,
and it
shall be told thee
what thou must do.
And the men which journeyed
with him stood speechless,
hearing a voice,
but seeing no man.
And Saul
arose
from the earth;
and
when his eyes
were opened,
he saw no man:
but
they led him
by the hand,
and brought him
into Damascus.
And
he was three days
without sight,
and neither
did eat nor drink.
And there was
a certain disciple
at Damascus,
named Ananias;
and to him
said the Lord
in a vision,
Ananias.
And he said,
Behold,
I am here,
Lord.
And the Lord
said unto him,
Arise,
and go
into the street which
is called Straight,
and enquire
in the house
of Judas
for one
called Saul,
of Tarsus:
for,
behold,
he prayeth,
And hath seen
in a vision a man
named
Ananias coming in,
and putting
his hand
on him,
that he
might receive
his sight.
Then Ananias answered,
Lord,
I have heard
by many
of this man,
how much evil
he hath done
to thy saints
at Jerusalem:
And here
he hath authority
from the chief priests
to bind all
that
call on thy name.
But the Lord
said unto him,
Go thy way:
for he
is a chosen vessel
unto me,
to bear my name
before the Gentiles,
and kings,
and the children
of Israel:
For I
will shew him how
great things
he must suffer
for my name's sake.
And Ananias
went his way,
and entered
into the house;
and putting
his hands
on him said,
Brother Saul,
the Lord,
even Jesus,
that appeared
unto thee
in the way
as thou camest,
hath sent me,
that thou
mightest receive
thy sight,
and be filled
with the Holy Ghost.
And immediately there fell
from his eyes as it
had been scales:
and
he received sight forthwith,
and arose,
and was baptized.
And God,
which knoweth the hearts,
bare them witness,
giving them
the Holy Ghost,
even as
he did unto us;
And a certain woman
named Lydia,
a seller
of purple,
of the city
of Thyatira,
which worshipped God,
heard us:
whose heart the Lord opened,
that she
attended
unto the things
which were spoken
of Paul.
Saying,
Go unto this people,
and say,
Hearing
ye shall hear,
and shall not understand;
and seeing
ye shall see,
and not perceive:
For the heart
of this people
is waxed gross,
and their ears
are dull
of hearing,
and their eyes
have
they closed;
lest
they should see
with their eyes,
and hear
with their ears,
and understand
with their heart,
and should be converted,
and
I should heal them.
Because that,
when
they knew God,
they glorified him not
as God,
neither were thankful;
but became vain
in their imaginations,
and their foolish heart
was darkened.
But
after thy hardness
and impenitent heart
treasurest up
unto thyself wrath
against the day
of wrath
and revelation
of the righteous judgment
of God;
For when the Gentiles,
which have not
the law,
do by nature
the things
contained
in the law,
these,
having not
the law,
are a law
unto themselves:
Which shew
the work
of the law
written
in their hearts,
their conscience also bearing witness,
and their thoughts
the mean
while accusing
or else excusing one
another;)
In the day
when God
shall judge
the secrets
of men
by Jesus Christ
according to my gospel.
But
he is a Jew,
which is
one inwardly;
and circumcision
is
that of the heart,
in the spirit,
and
not in the letter;
whose praise
is not of men,
but of God.
But God
be thanked,
that ye
were the servants
of sin,
but
ye have obeyed
from the heart that form
of doctrine which
was delivered you.
Because
the carnal mind
is enmity
against God:
for it
is not subject to
the law of God,
neither indeed can be.
And he
that
searcheth
the hearts
knoweth
what is the mind
of the Spirit,
because
he maketh intercession
for the saints
according to
the will
of God.
For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness;
and
with the mouth
confession
is made
unto salvation.
And again,
The Lord
knoweth
the thoughts
of the wise,
that they
are vain.
For God,
who commanded the light
to shine out of darkness,
hath shined
in our hearts,
to give the light
of the knowledge
of the glory
of God
in the face
of Jesus Christ.
Having
the understanding darkened,
being alienated
from the life
of God
through the ignorance
that is in them,
because
of the blindness
of their heart:
And be renewed
in the spirit
of your mind;
And be
ye kind one
to another,
tenderhearted,
forgiving one
another,
even as God
for Christ's sake
hath forgiven you.
Servants,
be obedient
to them
that are your masters
according to the flesh,
with fear
and trembling,
in singleness
of your heart,
as unto Christ;
Not with eyeservice,
as menpleasers;
but as the servants
of Christ,
doing the will
of God
from the heart;
And have put on
the new man,
which is renewed in knowledge
after the image
of him that
created him:
Servants,
obey
in all things
your masters
according to the flesh;
not with eyeservice,
as menpleasers;
but in singleness
of heart,
fearing God;
But as we
were allowed
of God
to be put in
trust
with the gospel,
even so
we speak;
not as pleasing men,
but God,
which trieth our hearts.
To the end
he may stablish
your hearts unblameable
in holiness
before God,
even our Father,
at the coming
of our Lord Jesus Christ
with all his saints.
Now
the end
of the commandment
is charity
out of a pure heart,
and
of a good conscience,
and
of faith unfeigned:
Flee also youthful lusts:
but follow
righteousness,
faith,
charity,
peace,
with them that
call on the Lord
out of a pure heart.
Harden not
your hearts,
as in the provocation,
in the day
of temptation
in the wilderness:
Wherefore
I was grieved
with that generation,
and said,
They
do alway err
in their heart;
and
they have not known
my ways.
For the word
of God
is quick,
and powerful,
and sharper
than any twoedged sword,
piercing even
to the dividing asunder
of soul
and spirit,
and
of the joints
and marrow,
and is a discerner
of the thoughts
and intents
of the heart.
Let us
draw near
with a true heart
in full assurance
of faith,
having
our hearts
sprinkled
from an evil conscience,
and our bodies
washed
with pure water.
By faith Abraham,
when
he was tried,
offered up Isaac:
and
he that
had received
the promises
offered
up his only begotten son,
But let him
ask in faith,
nothing wavering.
For he that
wavereth
is like
a wave
of the sea
driven
with the wind
and tossed.
A double minded man
is unstable
in all his ways.
Draw nigh to God,
and
he will draw nigh
to you.
Cleanse your hands,
ye sinners;
and purify
your hearts,
ye double minded.
Seeing
ye have purified
your souls
in obeying
the truth
through the Spirit
unto unfeigned love
of the brethren,
see that
ye love one
another
with a pure heart fervently:
But sanctify
the Lord God
in your hearts:
and be ready always
to give an answer
to every man
that asketh you
a reason
of the hope
that is in you
with meekness
and fear:
Having
eyes
full of adultery,
and that
cannot cease
from sin;
beguiling unstable souls:
an heart
they have exercised
with covetous practices;
cursed children:
I know thy works,
and thy labour,
and thy patience,
and
how thou canst
not bear them
which are evil:
and
thou hast tried them which
say
they are apostles,
and are not,
and hast found them liars:
Fear none of those things which
thou shalt suffer:
behold,
the devil
shall cast
some of you
into prison,
that ye
may be tried;
and
ye shall have
tribulation ten days:
be thou faithful
unto death,
and I
will give
thee a crown
of life.
And I
will kill
her children
with death;
and all
the churches
shall know that
I am
he which
searcheth the reins
and hearts:
and I
will give
unto every one
of you
according to your works.
