The LORD
is a man
of war:
the LORD is his name.
Thy right hand,
O LORD,
is become glorious
in power:
thy right hand,
O LORD,
hath dashed
in pieces the enemy.
And
in the greatness
of thine excellency
thou hast overthrown them
that rose up
against thee:
thou sentest forth thy wrath,
which consumed them
as stubble.
Who is like
unto thee,
O LORD,
among the gods?
who is like thee,
glorious
in holiness,
fearful in praises,
doing wonders?
Thou stretchedst
out thy
right hand,
the earth
swallowed them.
And the LORD
said
unto Moses,
Is the LORD's hand
waxed short?
thou shalt see now
whether my word
shall come
to pass
unto thee or not.
Behold,
I have received commandment
to bless:
and
he hath blessed;
and
I cannot reverse it.
O Lord GOD,
thou hast begun
to shew
thy servant
thy greatness,
and thy mighty hand:
for what
God is there
in heaven
or in earth,
that can do according to
thy works,
and according to
thy might?
Thou shalt not be affrighted
at them:
for the LORD
thy God
is among you,
a mighty God
and terrible.
See now that I,
even I,
am he,
and there is no god
with me:
I kill,
and I
make alive;
I wound,
and I heal:
neither is there
any that
can deliver
out of my hand.
There is none like
unto the God
of Jeshurun,
who rideth upon the heaven
in thy help,
and
in his excellency
on the sky.
The eternal God
is thy refuge,
and underneath are
the everlasting arms:
and
he shall thrust
out the enemy from
before thee;
and shall say,
Destroy them.
That all the people
of the earth
might know
the hand
of the LORD,
that it
is mighty:
that ye
might fear
the LORD
your God
for ever.
The LORD killeth,
and maketh alive:
he bringeth down
to the grave,
and
bringeth up.
The LORD
maketh poor,
and maketh rich:
he bringeth low,
and
lifteth up.
The adversaries
of the LORD
shall be broken
to pieces;
out of heaven shall
he thunder upon them:
the LORD
shall judge
the ends
of the earth;
and
he shall give strength
unto his king,
and exalt
the horn
of his anointed.
And Jonathan
said
to the young man
that bare his armour,
Come,
and let us go over
unto the garrison
of these uncircumcised:
it may be
that the LORD
will work for us:
for there is
no restraint
to the LORD
to save
by many
or by few.
Through the brightness
before him
were coals
of fire kindled.
And
the channels
of the sea appeared,
the foundations
of the world
were discovered,
at the rebuking
of the LORD,
at the blast
of the breath
of his nostrils.
Thine,
O LORD
is the greatness,
and the power,
and the glory,
and the victory,
and the majesty:
for all that is
in the heaven
and in the earth
is thine;
thine is the kingdom,
O LORD,
and
thou art
exalted as head above all.
Both riches
and honour
come of thee,
and
thou reignest over all;
and in thine hand
is power
and might;
and in thine hand
it is
to make great,
and
to give strength
unto all.
And Asa
cried
unto the LORD
his God,
and said,
LORD,
it is nothing
with thee
to help,
whether with many,
or with them that
have
no power:
help us,
O LORD our God;
for we rest
on thee,
and in thy
name
we go
against this multitude.
O LORD,
thou art
our God;
let
no man
prevail against thee.
For the eyes
of the LORD
run
to and fro
throughout the whole earth,
to shew himself strong
in the behalf
of them whose heart
is perfect toward him.
Herein
thou hast done foolishly:
therefore from
henceforth
thou shalt have wars.
And said,
O LORD God
of our fathers,
art not
thou God
in heaven?
and rulest not
thou
over all
the kingdoms
of the heathen?
and in thine hand
is there not
power
and might,
so that none
is able
to withstand thee?
But
if thou
wilt go,
do it;
be strong
for the battle:
God shall make
thee fall
before the enemy:
for God
hath power
to help,
and to cast down.
And Amaziah
said
to the man
of God,
But what
shall
we do
for the hundred talents
which I
have given
to the army
of Israel?
And the man
of God answered,
The LORD
is able
to give
thee much more
than this.
For I
was ashamed
to require
of the king a band
of soldiers
and horsemen
to help us
against the enemy
in the way:
because
we had spoken
unto the king,
saying,
The hand
of our God
is upon all
them for good
that seek him;
but his power
and his wrath
is against all
them that
forsake him.
Now these
are thy servants
and thy people,
whom
thou hast redeemed
by thy great power,
and by thy strong hand.
He is wise
in heart,
and mighty
in strength:
who hath hardened himself
against him,
and hath prospered?
Which removeth the mountains,
and
they know not:
which overturneth them
in his anger.
Which shaketh
the earth
out of her place,
and the pillars
thereof tremble.
Which commandeth the sun,
and it
riseth not;
and sealeth up the stars.
Which doeth great things
past finding out;
yea,
and wonders without number.
Behold,
he taketh away,
who can hinder him?
who will say unto him,
What doest thou?
If God
will not withdraw
his anger,
the proud helpers
do stoop under him.
If I
speak
of strength,
lo,
he is strong:
and
if of judgment,
who shall set me
a time
to plead?
If he cut off,
and shut up,
or gather together,
then
who can hinder him?
Behold,
he breaketh down,
and it
cannot be built again:
he shutteth up a man,
and there can be
no opening.
With him is strength
and wisdom:
the deceived
and the deceiver
are his.
Thou
prevailest for ever against him,
and he passeth:
thou changest his countenance,
and sendest him away.
But
he is in one mind,
and
who can turn him?
and
what his soul desireth,
even
that he doeth.
The pillars
of heaven
tremble
and are astonished
at his reproof.
If he set
his heart
upon man,
if he
gather
unto himself his spirit
and his breath;
All flesh
shall perish together,
and man
shall turn
again unto dust.
Behold,
God is mighty,
and despiseth not any:
he is mighty
in strength and wisdom.
Touching the Almighty,
we cannot find him out:
he is excellent
in power,
and in judgment,
and in plenty
of justice:
he will not afflict.
Then the LORD
answered Job
out of the whirlwind,
and said,
Or who shut
up the sea
with doors,
when it brake forth,
as if
it had issued
out of the womb?
Hast
thou
an arm like God?
or canst
thou thunder
with a voice like him?
None is so fierce
that dare
stir him up:
who
then is able
to stand
before me?
Who hath prevented me,
that I
should repay him?
whatsoever is
under the whole heaven
is mine.
I know that
thou canst
do every thing,
and that no
thought
can be withholden
from thee.
Be thou exalted,
LORD,
in thine own strength:
so will
we sing
and praise thy power.
The voice
of the LORD
is upon the waters:
the God
of glory thundereth:
the LORD
is upon many waters.
The voice
of the LORD
is powerful;
the voice
of the LORD
is full of majesty.
The voice
of the LORD
breaketh the cedars;
yea,
the LORD
breaketh
the cedars
of Lebanon.
For he spake,
and it
was done;
he commanded,
and it
stood fast.
The heathen raged,
the kingdoms
were moved:
he uttered
his voice,
the earth melted.
God hath spoken once;
twice have
I heard this;
that power
belongeth
unto God.
Which by his strength
setteth
fast
the mountains;
being girded
with power:
Which stilleth
the noise
of the seas,
the noise
of their waves,
and the tumult
of the people.
Say unto God,
How terrible art
thou in thy works!
through the greatness
of thy
power
shall
thine enemies
submit themselves
unto thee.
He ruleth by his power
for ever;
his eyes
behold the nations:
let not
the rebellious
exalt themselves.
Selah.
To him
that rideth upon the heavens
of heavens,
which were of old;
lo,
he doth send
out his voice,
and
that a mighty voice.
Thou didst divide
the sea
by thy strength:
thou brakest
the heads
of the dragons
in the waters.
Thou didst cleave
the fountain
and the flood:
thou driedst
up mighty rivers.
At thy rebuke,
O God of Jacob,
both the chariot
and horse
are cast
into a dead sleep.
Thou,
even thou,
art to be feared:
and
who may stand
in thy sight
when once
thou art angry?
Thou art
the God
that doest wonders:
thou hast declared
thy strength
among the people.
The waters
saw thee,
O God,
the waters
saw thee;
they were afraid:
the depths
also were troubled.
The voice of thy
thunder
was in the heaven:
the lightnings
lightened
the world:
the earth
trembled and shook.
He caused
an east wind
to blow
in the heaven:
and by his power
he brought in
the south wind.
Let the sighing
of the prisoner come
before thee;
according to the greatness
of thy
power
preserve
thou
those that
are appointed
to die;
O LORD God
of hosts,
who is
a strong LORD like
unto thee?
or to thy faithfulness round
about thee?
Thou rulest
the raging
of the sea:
when the waves
thereof arise,
thou stillest them.
Thou hast a mighty arm:
strong is thy hand,
and high
is
thy right hand.
Thou turnest man
to destruction;
and sayest,
Return,
ye children
of men.
The LORD reigneth,
he is clothed
with majesty;
the LORD
is clothed
with strength,
wherewith
he hath girded himself:
the world
also is stablished,
that it
cannot be moved.
The LORD on high
is mightier
than the noise
of many waters,
yea,
than the mighty waves
of the sea.
A fire
goeth
before him,
and burneth
up his enemies round about.
His lightnings
enlightened
the world:
the earth saw,
and trembled.
The hills
melted like
wax at the presence
of the LORD,
at the presence
of the Lord
of the whole earth.
At thy
rebuke
they fled;
at the voice
of thy
thunder
they hasted away.
Thou hast set
a
bound
that they
may not pass over;
that they
turn not again
to cover the earth.
Thou hidest
thy face,
they are troubled:
thou takest away
their breath,
they die,
and return
to their dust.
Thou sendest forth thy spirit,
they are created:
and thou
renewest
the face
of the earth.
He looketh
on the earth,
and it trembleth:
he toucheth the hills,
and they smoke.
Nevertheless
he saved them
for his name's sake,
that he
might make
his mighty power
to be known.
For he commandeth,
and raiseth the stormy wind,
which lifteth up the waves
thereof.
He maketh
the storm a calm,
so that
the waves
thereof are still.
He hath shewed
his people
the power
of his works,
that he
may give them
the heritage
of the heathen.
Tremble,
thou earth,
at the presence
of the Lord,
at the presence
of the God
of Jacob;
Which turned
the rock
into a standing water,
the flint
into a fountain
of waters.
But our God
is in the heavens:
he hath done whatsoever
he hath pleased.
The right hand
of the LORD
is exalted:
the right hand
of the LORD
doeth valiantly.
Whatsoever
the LORD pleased,
that did
he in heaven,
and in earth,
in the seas,
and all deep places.
Bow thy heavens,
O LORD,
and come down:
touch the mountains,
and
they shall smoke.
And men
shall speak
of the might
of thy terrible acts:
and
I will declare
thy greatness.
Thou openest thine hand,
and satisfiest
the desire
of every living thing.
Great is our Lord,
and
of great power:
his understanding
is infinite.
He giveth
snow like wool:
he scattereth the hoarfrost like ashes.
He sendeth out his word,
and melteth them:
he causeth his wind
to blow,
and the waters flow.
Let them
praise the name
of the LORD:
for he commanded,
and
they were created.
Fire,
and hail;
snow,
and vapours;
stormy wind
fulfilling
his word:
There is
no wisdom
nor understanding
nor counsel
against the LORD.
Who hath ascended up
into heaven,
or descended?
who hath gathered
the wind
in his fists?
who hath bound
the waters
in a garment?
who hath established all
the ends
of the earth?
what is his name,
and
what is his son's name,
if thou canst tell?
The LORD of hosts
hath sworn,
saying,
Surely as I
have thought,
so shall it come
to pass;
and as I
have purposed,
so shall
it stand:
For the LORD
of hosts
hath purposed,
and
who shall disannul it?
and his hand
is stretched out,
and who
shall turn it back?
The nations
shall rush like
the rushing
of many waters:
but God
shall rebuke them,
and
they shall flee
far off,
and shall be
chased
as the chaff
of the mountains
before the wind,
and like
a rolling thing
before the whirlwind.
The burden
of Egypt.
Behold,
the LORD
rideth upon a swift cloud,
and shall come
into Egypt:
and the idols
of Egypt
shall be moved
at his presence,
and
the heart
of Egypt
shall melt
in the midst of it.
He stretched out
his hand over the sea,
he shook the kingdoms:
the LORD
hath given a commandment
against the merchant city,
to destroy
the strong holds
thereof.
Trust ye
in the LORD
for ever:
for in the LORD JEHOVAH
is everlasting strength:
Fury
is not in me:
who would set
the briers
and thorns
against me in battle?
I would go through them,
I would burn them together.
Now the Egyptians
are men,
and not God;
and their horses flesh,
and not spirit.
When the LORD
shall stretch out
his hand,
both he
that helpeth
shall fall,
and he
that is
holpen shall fall down,
and
they
all shall fail together.
At the noise
of the tumult
the people fled;
at the lifting up
of thyself
the nations
were scattered.
Hear,
ye that
are
far off,
what I
have done;
and,
ye that are near,
acknowledge
my might.
Who hath measured
the waters
in the hollow
of his hand,
and meted out heaven
with the span,
and comprehended
the dust
of the earth
in a measure,
and weighed
the mountains
in scales,
and the hills
in a balance?
It is
he that
sitteth upon the circle
of the earth,
and the inhabitants
thereof are
as grasshoppers;
that stretcheth out the heavens
as a curtain,
and spreadeth
them out
as a tent
to dwell in:
Yea,
they shall not be planted;
yea,
they shall not be sown:
yea,
their stock
shall not take
root
in the earth:
and
he shall also blow upon them,
and
they shall wither,
and the whirlwind
shall take them away
as stubble.
Lift
up your eyes
on high,
and behold who
hath created
these things,
that bringeth out their host
by number:
he calleth them
all by names
by the greatness
of his might,
for that
he is strong
in power;
not one faileth.
Hast
thou not known?
hast
thou not heard,
that the everlasting God,
the LORD,
the Creator
of the ends
of the earth,
fainteth not,
neither is weary?
there is
no
searching
of his understanding.
Yea,
before the day
was
I am he;
and there is none
that can deliver
out of my hand:
I will work,
and
who shall let it?
Thus saith the LORD,
which maketh a way
in the sea,
and a path
in the mighty waters;
Which bringeth forth the chariot
and horse,
the army
and the power;
they shall lie down together,
they shall not rise:
they are extinct,
they are quenched
as tow.
That saith
to the deep,
Be dry,
and
I will dry
up thy rivers:
Declaring the end
from the beginning,
and from ancient
times
the things
that are not yet done,
saying,
My counsel
shall stand,
and
I will do all
my pleasure:
Calling a ravenous bird
from the east,
the man that
executeth
my counsel
from a far country:
yea,
I have spoken it,
I will also bring it
to pass;
I have purposed it,
I will also do it.
Mine hand
also hath laid the foundation
of the earth,
and my right hand
hath spanned
the heavens:
when
I call unto them,
they stand up together.
Wherefore,
when I came,
was there
no man?
when I called,
was there none
to answer?
Is my hand
shortened at all,
that it
cannot redeem?
or have
I no power
to deliver?
behold,
at my rebuke
I dry
up the sea,
I make
the rivers a wilderness:
their fish stinketh,
because
there is
no water,
and dieth
for thirst.
I clothe
the heavens
with blackness,
and
I make sackcloth
their covering.
Art
thou not it
which hath dried
the sea,
the waters
of the great deep;
that hath made
the depths
of the sea a way
for the ransomed
to pass over?
The LORD
hath made
bare his holy arm
in the eyes
of all the nations;
and all
the ends
of the earth
shall see
the salvation
of our God.
Behold,
the LORD's hand
is not shortened,
that it
cannot save;
neither his ear heavy,
that it
cannot hear:
Thou shalt also suck
the milk
of the Gentiles,
and shalt suck
the breast
of kings:
and
thou shalt know
that I
the LORD
am thy Saviour
and thy Redeemer,
the mighty One
of Jacob.
That led them
by the right hand
of Moses
with his glorious arm,
dividing the water
before them,
to make himself
an everlasting name?
Fear ye not me?
saith the LORD:
will
ye not tremble
at my presence,
which have placed
the sand
for the bound
of the sea
by a perpetual decree,
that it
cannot pass it:
and
though the waves
thereof toss themselves,
yet can
they not prevail;
though they roar,
yet can
they not pass
over it?
Forasmuch
as there is none like
unto thee,
O LORD;
thou art great,
and thy
name
is great
in might.
He hath made
the earth
by his power,
he hath established
the world
by his wisdom,
and hath stretched out
the heavens
by his discretion.
When
he uttereth his voice,
there is a multitude
of waters
in the heavens,
and he
causeth
the vapours
to ascend
from the ends
of the earth;
he maketh lightnings
with rain,
and bringeth forth the wind
out of his treasures.
But the LORD
is with me
as a mighty terrible one:
therefore my persecutors
shall stumble,
and
they shall not prevail:
they shall be greatly ashamed;
for they shall not prosper:
their everlasting confusion
shall never be forgotten.
I have made
the earth,
the man
and the beast that
are upon the ground,
by my great power
and by my outstretched arm,
and have given
it unto whom
it seemed
meet unto me.
Ah Lord GOD!
behold,
thou hast made
the heaven
and the earth
by thy great power
and stretched out arm,
and there is nothing too hard
for thee:
Behold,
I am the LORD,
the God
of all flesh:
is there any thing too hard
for me?
Behold,
he shall come
up like
a lion
from the swelling
of Jordan
unto the habitation
of the strong:
but
I will make them
suddenly run away
from her:
and who
is a
chosen man,
that I
may appoint
over her?
for who
is like me?
and
who will appoint me
the time?
and
who is that shepherd
that will stand
before me?
Daniel
answered
and said,
Blessed
be
the name
of God
for ever
and ever:
for wisdom
and might
are his:
If it
be so,
our God whom
we serve
is able
to deliver us
from the burning fiery furnace,
and
he will deliver us
out of thine hand,
O king.
And all
the inhabitants
of the earth
are reputed
as nothing:
and
he doeth according to
his will
in the army
of heaven,
and
among the inhabitants
of the earth:
and none
can stay
his hand,
or say unto him,
What doest thou?
He delivereth
and rescueth,
and
he worketh
signs
and wonders in heaven
and in earth,
who hath delivered Daniel
from the power
of the lions.
And the LORD
shall utter
his voice
before his army:
for his camp
is very great:
for he
is strong
that executeth his word:
for the day
of the LORD
is
great
and very terrible;
and
who can abide it?
The LORD
also shall roar out of Zion,
and utter
his voice
from Jerusalem;
and the heavens
and the earth
shall shake:
but the LORD
will be the hope
of his people,
and the strength
of the children
of Israel.
For, lo,
he that
formeth the mountains,
and createth the wind,
and declareth unto man
what is his thought,
that maketh the morning darkness,
and treadeth
upon the high places
of the earth,
The LORD,
The God of hosts,
is his name.
And the Lord GOD
of hosts
is
he that
toucheth the land,
and it
shall melt,
and all that
dwell therein shall mourn:
and it
shall rise
up wholly like
a flood;
and shall be drowned,
as by the flood
of Egypt.
It is
he that
buildeth
his stories
in the heaven,
and hath founded
his troop
in the earth;
he that calleth
for the waters
of the sea,
and poureth
them out
upon the face
of the earth:
The LORD is his name.
For,
behold,
the LORD
cometh forth
out of his place,
and
will come down,
and tread
upon the high places
of the earth.
And the mountains
shall be molten
under him,
and the valleys
shall be cleft,
as wax
before the fire,
and as the waters
that are poured
down a steep place.
The LORD
is slow to anger,
and great
in power,
and will not
at all acquit the wicked:
the LORD
hath his way
in the whirlwind
and in the storm,
and the clouds
are the dust
of his feet.
He rebuketh the sea,
and maketh
it dry,
and drieth up all
the rivers:
Bashan languisheth,
and Carmel,
and
the flower
of Lebanon languisheth.
The mountains quake
at him,
and the hills melt,
and the earth
is burned
at his presence,
yea,
the world,
and all that
dwell therein.
Who can stand
before his indignation?
and
who can abide in
the fierceness
of his anger?
his fury
is poured
out like fire,
and the rocks
are thrown down by him.
He stood,
and measured
the earth:
he beheld,
and drove asunder
the nations;
and the everlasting mountains
were scattered,
the perpetual hills
did bow:
his ways
are everlasting.
Thy bow
was made quite naked,
according to
the oaths
of the tribes,
even thy word.
Selah.
Thou didst cleave
the earth
with rivers.
The mountains
saw thee,
and
they trembled:
the overflowing
of the water passed by:
the deep uttered his voice,
and lifted
up his hands
on high.
The sun
and moon
stood still
in their habitation:
at the light
of thine arrows
they went,
and at
the shining
of thy glittering spear.
Thou didst walk
through the sea
with thine horses,
through the heap
of great waters.
And the LORD
shall be seen over them,
and his arrow
shall go forth
as the lightning:
and the LORD God
shall blow
the trumpet,
and shall go
with whirlwinds
of the south.
And think not
to say
within yourselves,
We have Abraham
to our father:
for I
say unto you,
that God
is able of these
stones
to raise
up children
unto Abraham.
And lead us not
into temptation,
but deliver us
from evil:
For thine
is the kingdom,
and the power,
and the glory,
for ever.
Amen.
And fear not them which
kill the body,
but are not able
to kill the soul:
but
rather fear him which
is able
to destroy both soul
and body
in hell.
But Jesus
beheld them,
and
said unto them,
With men
this is impossible;
but with God all things
are possible.
Jesus
answered
and
said unto them,
Ye do err,
not knowing
the scriptures,
nor the power
of God.
And he said,
Abba, Father,
all things
are possible
unto thee;
take away this cup
from me:
nevertheless not
what I will,
but
what thou wilt.
For with God nothing
shall be impossible.
For he
that is mighty
hath done
to me great things;
and holy
is his name.
He hath shewed strength
with his arm;
he hath scattered
the proud
in the imagination
of their hearts.
But
if I
with the finger
of God
cast out devils,
no doubt
the kingdom
of God
is come upon you.
And being fully persuaded that,
what
he had promised,
he was able also
to perform.
And God
hath both raised
up the Lord,
and will also raise up us
by his own power.
For though
he was crucified
through weakness,
yet
he liveth by the power
of God.
For we
also are weak
in him,
but we
shall live
with him
by the power
of God
toward you.
And what
is
the exceeding greatness
of his power
to us-ward
who believe,
according to
the working
of his mighty power,
Which he
wrought
in Christ,
when
he raised him
from the dead,
and set him
at his own right
hand in
the heavenly places,
Now unto him that is able
to do exceeding abundantly above all
that
we ask
or think,
according to
the power
that worketh in us,
Unto him be glory
in the church
by Christ Jesus
throughout all ages,
world without end.
Amen.
Who being the brightness
of his glory,
and the express image
of his person,
and upholding all things
by the word
of his power,
when he
had by himself
purged
our sins,
sat down
on the right hand
of the Majesty
on high:
Whose voice
then shook the earth:
but now
he hath promised,
saying,
Yet once more
I shake not
the earth only,
but also heaven.
For our God
is
a consuming fire.
There is
one lawgiver,
who is able
to save and
to destroy:
who art
thou
that judgest
another?
Who are kept
by the power
of God
through faith
unto salvation ready
to be revealed
in the last time.
Thou art worthy,
O Lord,
to receive
glory
and honour and power:
for thou
hast created
all things,
and for thy pleasure
they are
and were created.
Saying,
We give
thee thanks,
O LORD God Almighty,
which art,
and wast,
and art to come;
because
thou hast taken
to thee
thy great power,
and hast reigned.
And
after these things
I heard
a great voice
of much people
in heaven,
saying,
Alleluia;
Salvation,
and glory,
and honour,
and power,
unto the Lord our God:
And
I heard as it
were the voice
of a great multitude,
and as the voice
of many waters,
and as the voice
of mighty thunderings,
saying,
Alleluia:
for the Lord God omnipotent reigneth.
