And the LORD
smelled a sweet savour;
and the LORD
said
in his heart,
I will not again curse
the ground any more
for man's sake;
for the imagination
of man's heart
is evil
from his youth;
neither will
I again smite
any more every thing living,
as I
have done.
And the LORD said,
If I
find
in Sodom fifty righteous
within the city,
then I
will spare
all the place
for their sakes.
And
while he lingered,
the men
laid
hold
upon his hand,
and upon the hand
of his wife,
and upon the hand
of his two daughters;
the LORD
being merciful
unto him:
and
they
brought him forth,
and set him
without the city.
Thou in thy mercy
hast led
forth the people which
thou hast redeemed:
thou hast guided them
in thy strength
unto thy holy habitation.
I am the LORD
thy God,
which have brought thee
out of the land
of Egypt,
out of the house
of bondage.
And shewing mercy
unto thousands of
them that love me,
and keep
my commandments.
And the LORD
said
unto Moses,
Thus
thou shalt say
unto the children
of Israel,
Ye have seen that
I have talked
with you
from heaven.
And
thou shalt make
a mercy
seat
of pure gold:
two cubits and a half
shall be
the length thereof,
and a cubit
and a half
the breadth
thereof.
And the LORD
repented
of the evil
which he
thought
to do
unto his people.
Therefore now go,
lead the people
unto the place
of which
I have spoken
unto thee:
behold,
mine Angel
shall go
before thee:
nevertheless in the day
when I
visit
I will visit
their sin
upon them.
And he said,
I will make
all my goodness
pass
before thee,
and
I will proclaim
the name
of the LORD
before thee;
and will be gracious
to whom
I will be gracious,
and will shew
mercy on whom
I will shew mercy.
And the LORD
passed by
before him,
and proclaimed,
The LORD,
The LORD God,
merciful
and gracious,
longsuffering,
and abundant
in goodness
and truth,
Keeping mercy
for thousands,
forgiving iniquity
and transgression
and sin,
and that
will by no
means
clear the guilty;
visiting the iniquity
of the fathers
upon the children,
and upon the children's children,
unto the third
and to the fourth generation.
And
yet for all that,
when
they be
in the land
of their enemies,
I will not cast them away,
neither will
I abhor them,
to destroy them utterly,
and
to break my covenant
with them:
for I
am the LORD
their God.
But
I will for their sakes
remember the covenant
of their ancestors,
whom
I brought forth
out of the land
of Egypt
in the sight
of the heathen,
that I
might be
their God:
I am the LORD.
The LORD
is longsuffering,
and
of great mercy,
forgiving iniquity
and transgression,
and by no
means
clearing the guilty,
visiting the iniquity
of the fathers
upon the children
unto the third
and fourth generation.
Pardon,
I beseech thee,
the iniquity
of this people
according
unto the greatness
of thy mercy,
and as thou
hast forgiven
this people,
from Egypt
even until now.
And the LORD said,
I have pardoned according to
thy word:
And
he stood
between the dead
and the living;
and the plague
was stayed.
And the LORD
said
unto Moses,
Make thee
a fiery serpent,
and set it
upon a pole:
and it
shall come
to pass,
that every one
that is bitten,
when
he looketh
upon it,
shall live.
(For the LORD
thy God
is a merciful God;)
he will not forsake thee,
neither destroy thee,
nor forget
the covenant
of thy
fathers
which he
sware unto them.
O that
there were
such an heart
in them,
that
they would fear me,
and keep all
my commandments
always,
that it
might be well with them,
and with their children for ever!
Know therefore
that the LORD
thy God,
he is God,
the faithful God,
which keepeth covenant
and mercy
with them that love him
and keep
his commandments
to a thousand generations;
O that
they were wise,
that they
understood this,
that they
would consider
their latter end!
For the LORD
shall judge
his people,
and repent himself
for his servants,
when
he seeth
that their power
is gone,
and there is none
shut up,
or left.
Rejoice,
O ye nations,
with his people:
for he will avenge
the blood
of his servants,
and will render vengeance
to his adversaries,
and will be merciful
unto his land,
and
to his people.
And when the LORD
raised them
up judges,
then the LORD
was with the judge,
and delivered them
out of the hand
of their enemies all
the days
of the judge:
for it
repented the LORD
because
of their groanings
by reason
of them that
oppressed them
and vexed them.
And they put away
the strange gods
from among them,
and served
the LORD:
and his soul
was grieved for the misery
of Israel.
And David
said
unto Nathan,
I have sinned
against the LORD.
And Nathan
said
unto David,
The LORD
also hath put away
thy sin;
thou shalt not die.
For we must needs die,
and are
as water
spilt on the ground,
which cannot be gathered
up again;
neither doth
God respect
any person:
yet doth
he devise means,
that his banished
be not expelled from him.
And David
said
unto Gad,
I am in a great strait:
let us
fall now
into the hand
of the LORD;
for his mercies
are great:
and let me
not fall
into the hand
of man.
And he said,
LORD God
of Israel,
there is
no God like thee,
in heaven above,
or on earth
beneath,
who keepest covenant
and mercy
with thy servants that walk
before thee
with all their heart:
And the LORD
was gracious
unto them,
and had compassion
on them,
and had
respect unto them,
because
of his covenant
with Abraham, Isaac,
and Jacob,
and would not destroy them,
neither cast
he them
from his presence
as yet.
For the LORD
saw the affliction
of Israel,
that it
was very bitter:
for there was not
any shut up,
nor any left,
nor any helper
for Israel.
And the LORD
said not that
he would blot
out the name
of Israel from
under heaven:
but
he saved them
by the hand
of Jeroboam
the son
of Joash.
O give
thanks
unto the LORD;
for he
is good;
for his mercy
endureth for ever.
It came even
to pass,
as the trumpeters
and singers
were as one,
to make
one sound
to be heard
in praising
and thanking
the LORD;
and
when they
lifted
up their voice
with the trumpets
and cymbals
and instruments
of musick,
and praised
the LORD,
saying,
For he
is good;
for his mercy
endureth for ever:
that then the house
was filled
with a cloud,
even the house
of the LORD;
And
when all
the children
of Israel
saw how the fire
came down,
and the glory
of the LORD
upon the house,
they bowed themselves
with their faces
to the ground
upon the pavement,
and worshipped,
and praised
the LORD,
saying,
For he
is good;
for his mercy
endureth for ever.
And the priests
waited
on their offices:
the Levites
also with instruments
of musick
of the LORD,
which David the king
had made
to praise the LORD,
because
his mercy
endureth for ever,
when David
praised
by their ministry;
and the priests
sounded trumpets
before them,
and all Israel stood.
If my people,
which are called
by my name,
shall humble themselves,
and pray,
and seek my face,
and turn
from their wicked ways;
then will
I hear
from heaven,
and will forgive
their sin,
and will heal
their land.
For if
ye turn again
unto the LORD,
your brethren
and your children
shall find compassion
before them that lead
them captive,
so that
they shall come again
into this land:
for the LORD
your God
is gracious
and merciful,
and will not turn away
his face
from you,
if ye
return unto him.
And the LORD God
of their fathers sent
to them
by his messengers,
rising up betimes,
and sending;
because
he had compassion
on his people,
and on his dwelling place:
For we
were bondmen;
yet our God
hath not forsaken us
in our bondage,
but hath extended mercy
unto us
in the sight
of the kings
of Persia,
to give us
a reviving,
to set up
the house
of our God,
and
to repair
the desolations
thereof,
and
to give us a wall
in Judah
and in Jerusalem.
And after
all that is come upon us
for our evil deeds,
and
for our great trespass,
seeing that
thou our God
hast punished us less than
our iniquities deserve,
and hast given us
such deliverance
as this;
Now these
are thy servants
and thy people,
whom
thou hast redeemed
by thy great power,
and by thy strong hand.
And refused
to obey,
neither were mindful
of thy
wonders
that thou
didst among them;
but hardened
their necks,
and
in their rebellion
appointed
a captain
to return
to their bondage:
but
thou art a God ready
to pardon,
gracious
and merciful,
slow to anger,
and of great kindness,
and forsookest them not.
Therefore thou deliveredst them
into the hand
of their enemies,
who vexed them:
and in the time
of their trouble,
when they
cried
unto thee,
thou heardest them
from heaven;
and
according to
thy manifold mercies
thou gavest them
saviours,
who saved them
out of the hand
of their enemies.
But after they
had rest,
they did evil
again before thee:
therefore leftest
thou them
in the land
of their enemies,
so that
they had
the dominion
over them:
yet
when
they returned,
and cried
unto thee,
thou heardest them
from heaven;
and many times
didst thou
deliver them according to
thy mercies;
And
testifiedst against them,
that thou
mightest bring them again
unto thy law:
yet
they dealt proudly,
and hearkened not
unto thy commandments,
but sinned
against thy judgments,
(which
if a man do,
he shall live in them;)
and withdrew the shoulder,
and hardened
their neck,
and would not hear.
Yet many years
didst
thou forbear them,
and testifiedst
against them
by thy spirit
in thy prophets:
yet would
they not give ear:
therefore gavest
thou them
into the hand
of the people
of the lands.
Nevertheless for
thy great mercies' sake
thou didst not
utterly consume them,
nor forsake them;
for thou art
a gracious
and merciful God.
Even to day
is my complaint bitter:
my stroke
is heavier
than my groaning.
Oh that
I knew
where I
might find him!
that I
might come even
to his seat!
I would order
my cause
before him,
and fill
my mouth
with arguments.
I would know
the words
which he
would answer me,
and understand
what
he would say unto me.
Will
he plead
against me
with his great power?
No;
but
he would put strength in me.
Men groan from
out of the city,
and the soul
of the wounded
crieth out:
yet God
layeth not folly
to them.
For God
speaketh once,
yea twice,
yet man
perceiveth it not.
In a dream,
in a vision
of the night,
when deep sleep
falleth upon men,
in slumberings
upon the bed;
Then he
openeth
the ears
of men,
and sealeth their instruction,
That he
may withdraw man
from his purpose,
and hide pride
from man.
He keepeth
back his soul
from the pit,
and his life
from perishing
by the sword.
He is chastened also
with pain
upon his bed,
and the multitude
of his bones
with strong pain:
So that
his life
abhorreth bread,
and his soul dainty meat.
His flesh
is consumed away,
that it
cannot be seen;
and
his bones
that were not seen
stick out.
Yea,
his soul
draweth near
unto the grave,
and his life
to the destroyers.
If there be
a messenger
with him, an interpreter,
one among a thousand,
to shew
unto man his uprightness:
Then
he is gracious
unto him,
and saith,
Deliver him
from going down
to the pit:
I have found
a ransom.
His flesh
shall be fresher
than a child's:
he shall return
to the days
of his youth:
He shall pray
unto God,
and
he will be favourable
unto him:
and he
shall see
his face
with joy:
for he
will render
unto man
his righteousness.
He looketh
upon men,
and if any say,
I have sinned,
and perverted
that which
was right,
and it
profited me not;
He will deliver
his soul
from going
into the pit,
and his life
shall see
the light.
Lo,
all these things
worketh God
oftentimes with man,
To bring
back his soul
from the pit,
to be enlightened
with the light
of the living.
Great deliverance
giveth
he to his king;
and sheweth mercy
to his anointed,
to David,
and
to his seed
for evermore.
Remember,
O LORD,
thy tender mercies
and thy lovingkindnesses;
for they
have been ever
of old.
For his anger
endureth
but a moment;
in his favour
is life:
weeping may endure
for a night,
but joy
cometh in the morning.
I will be glad
and rejoice
in thy mercy:
for thou
hast considered
my trouble;
thou hast known
my soul
in adversities;
Blessed
is
he whose transgression
is forgiven,
whose sin
is covered.
Blessed is the man
unto whom
the LORD
imputeth not
iniquity,
and
in whose spirit
there is no guile.
I acknowledge
my sin
unto thee,
and mine iniquity
have I not hid.
I said,
I will confess
my transgressions
unto the LORD;
and
thou forgavest
the iniquity
of my sin.
Selah.
Thy mercy,
O LORD,
is in the heavens;
and thy faithfulness
reacheth unto the clouds.
These things
hast
thou done,
and
I kept silence;
thou thoughtest that
I was altogether
such an one
as thyself:
but
I will reprove thee,
and set them
in order
before thine eyes.
For thy mercy
is great
unto the heavens,
and thy truth
unto the clouds.
Also unto thee,
O Lord,
belongeth mercy:
for thou
renderest to every man
according to his work.
Iniquities
prevail against me:
as for our transgressions,
thou shalt purge them away.
Hear me,
O LORD;
for thy lovingkindness
is good:
turn
unto me according to the multitude
of thy
tender mercies.
But he,
being full of compassion,
forgave their iniquity,
and destroyed them not:
yea,
many a time
turned
he his anger away,
and did not stir
up all his wrath.
For he
remembered that
they were
but flesh;
a wind that passeth away,
and cometh
not again.
Thou hast forgiven
the iniquity
of thy people,
thou hast covered all
their sin.
Selah.
Thou hast taken away all
thy wrath:
thou hast turned
thyself
from the fierceness
of thine anger.
Mercy
and truth
are met together;
righteousness
and peace
have kissed
each other.
For thou,
Lord,
art good,
and ready
to forgive;
and plenteous
in mercy
unto all
them that call
upon thee.
For great
is thy mercy
toward me:
and
thou hast delivered
my soul
from the lowest hell.
But thou,
O Lord,
art a God
full of compassion,
and gracious,
long suffering,
and plenteous
in mercy and truth.
For I
have said,
Mercy shall be built up
for ever:
thy faithfulness
shalt thou
establish
in the very heavens.
Justice
and judgment
are the habitation
of thy throne:
mercy and
truth
shall go
before thy face.
My mercy
will
I keep for him
for evermore,
and my covenant
shall stand
fast with him.
Thou answeredst them,
O LORD our God:
thou wast
a God
that forgavest them,
though thou
tookest vengeance
of their inventions.
For the LORD
is good;
his mercy
is everlasting;
and his truth
endureth to all generations.
Who forgiveth all
thine iniquities;
who healeth all
thy diseases;
The LORD
is merciful
and gracious,
slow to anger,
and plenteous
in mercy.
He will not always chide:
neither will
he keep
his anger
for ever.
He hath not dealt with us
after our sins;
nor rewarded us according to
our iniquities.
For as the heaven
is high above
the earth,
so great
is
his mercy
toward them
that fear him.
As far
as the east
is from the west,
so far hath
he removed
our transgressions
from us.
Like as a father
pitieth his children,
so the LORD
pitieth them
that fear him.
For he
knoweth our frame;
he remembereth that
we are dust.
But
the mercy
of the LORD
is from everlasting to everlasting
upon them that fear him,
and his righteousness
unto children's children;
Praise ye the LORD.
O give
thanks
unto the LORD;
for he
is good:
for his mercy
endureth for ever.
For thy mercy
is great above
the heavens:
and thy truth
reacheth unto the clouds.
He hath made
his wonderful works
to be remembered:
the LORD
is gracious
and full of compassion.
Gracious is the LORD,
and righteous;
yea,
our God is merciful.
For his merciful kindness
is great
toward us:
and
the truth
of the LORD
endureth for ever.
Praise ye the LORD.
The earth,
O LORD,
is full of
thy mercy:
teach me
thy statutes.
Great
are
thy tender
mercies,
O LORD:
quicken me according to
thy judgments.
If thou,
LORD,
shouldest mark
iniquities,
O Lord,
who shall stand?
But there is forgiveness
with thee,
that thou
mayest be feared.
Let Israel
hope
in the LORD:
for with the LORD
there is mercy,
and with him is
plenteous redemption.
For the LORD
will judge
his people,
and
he will repent himself concerning
his servants.
I will worship
toward thy holy temple,
and praise thy
name for thy lovingkindness
and for thy truth:
for thou
hast magnified
thy word
above all thy name.
The LORD
is gracious,
and full of compassion;
slow to anger,
and
of great mercy.
The LORD
is good to all:
and his tender mercies
are over all
his works.
Which executeth judgment
for the oppressed:
which giveth food
to the hungry.
The LORD
looseth the prisoners:
The LORD
openeth
the eyes
of the blind:
the LORD
raiseth them
that are bowed down:
the LORD
loveth the righteous:
By mercy
and truth iniquity
is purged:
and by the fear
of the LORD men
depart
from evil.
He that
covereth
his sins
shall not prosper:
but whoso
confesseth
and forsaketh them
shall have mercy.
Why should
ye be stricken any more?
ye will revolt
more
and more:
the whole head
is sick,
and the whole heart faint.
Come now,
and let us
reason together,
saith the LORD:
though your sins
be as scarlet,
they shall be
as white
as snow;
though they
be red like crimson,
they shall be
as wool.
And he
laid it
upon my mouth,
and said,
Lo,
this hath touched
thy lips;
and thine iniquity
is taken away,
and thy sin purged.
And
in that day thou
shalt say,
O LORD,
I will praise thee:
though thou
wast angry
with me,
thine anger
is turned away,
and
thou comfortedst me.
Yet gleaning grapes
shall be left in it,
as the shaking
of an olive tree,
two
or three berries
in the top
of the uppermost bough,
four or five
in the outmost fruitful branches
thereof,
saith the LORD God
of Israel.
For this
is as the waters
of Noah unto me:
for as I
have sworn that
the waters
of Noah
should no more go over
the earth;
so have
I sworn that
I would not be wroth
with thee,
nor rebuke thee.
Let the wicked
forsake his way,
and the unrighteous man
his thoughts:
and let him
return
unto the LORD,
and
he will have mercy
upon him;
and to our God,
for he
will abundantly pardon.
For my thoughts
are not
your thoughts,
neither are your ways my ways,
saith the LORD.
For as the heavens
are higher
than the earth,
so are
my ways higher
than your ways,
and my thoughts
than your thoughts.
And of whom hast
thou been afraid
or feared,
that thou
hast lied,
and hast not remembered me,
nor laid it
to thy heart?
have not
I held
my peace
even of old,
and
thou fearest me not?
For thus
saith the high
and lofty One
that inhabiteth eternity,
whose name
is Holy;
I dwell
in the high
and holy place,
with him also that is
of a contrite
and humble spirit,
to revive the spirit
of the humble,
and
to revive
the heart
of the contrite
ones.
For I
will not contend
for ever,
neither will
I be always wroth:
for the spirit
should fail
before me,
and the souls
which I
have made.
I have seen
his ways,
and will heal him:
I will lead him also,
and restore
comforts
unto him and
to his mourners.
I create
the fruit
of the lips;
Peace,
peace to him
that is far off,
and to him
that is near,
saith the LORD;
and
I will heal him.
And the sons
of strangers
shall build up
thy walls,
and their kings
shall minister
unto thee:
for in my wrath
I smote thee,
but in my favour
have
I had mercy
on thee.
I have spread out
my hands
all
the day
unto a rebellious people,
which walketh in a way
that was not good,
after their own thoughts;
Thus saith the LORD,
As the new wine
is found
in the cluster,
and one saith,
Destroy it not;
for a
blessing
is in it:
so will
I do
for my servants' sakes,
that I
may not destroy them all.
Wherefore
I will yet plead
with you,
saith the LORD,
and with your children's children
will I plead.
Go and proclaim
these words
toward the north,
and say,
Return,
thou backsliding Israel,
saith the LORD;
and I
will not cause
mine
anger
to fall upon you:
for I
am merciful,
saith the LORD,
and
I will not keep
anger
for ever.
Return,
ye backsliding children,
and
I will heal
your backslidings.
Behold,
we come
unto thee;
for thou art
the LORD our God.
For thus
hath
the LORD said,
The whole land
shall be desolate;
yet will
I not make
a full end.
Go ye up
upon her walls,
and destroy;
but make not
a full end:
take away
her battlements;
for they
are not
the LORD's.
But let him
that glorieth
glory in this,
that he
understandeth and knoweth me,
that I
am the LORD
which exercise
lovingkindness,
judgment,
and righteousness,
in the earth:
for in these things
I delight,
saith the LORD.
For I
know the thoughts that
I think toward you,
saith the LORD,
thoughts
of peace,
and not of evil,
to give you
an expected end.
For I
am with thee,
saith the LORD,
to save thee:
though I
make
a full end
of all nations
whither
I have scattered thee,
yet
I will not make
a full end
of thee:
but
I will correct thee
in measure,
and will not leave
thee altogether unpunished.
Is Ephraim
my dear son?
is he
a pleasant child?
for since
I spake against him,
I do earnestly remember him still:
therefore my bowels
are troubled for him;
I will surely have mercy
upon him,
saith the LORD.
And
they shall teach
no more every man his neighbour,
and every man
his brother,
saying,
Know the LORD:
for they
shall all know me,
from the least
of them
unto the greatest
of them,
saith the LORD:
for I
will forgive
their iniquity,
and
I will remember
their sin no more.
Thus saith the LORD;
If heaven above
can be measured,
and
the foundations
of the earth
searched out beneath,
I will also cast
off all
the seed
of Israel for all
that
they have done,
saith the LORD.
Thou shewest lovingkindness
unto thousands,
and recompensest
the iniquity
of the fathers
into the bosom
of their children
after them:
the Great,
the Mighty God,
the LORD
of hosts,
is his name,
And
I will cleanse them
from all
their iniquity,
whereby
they
have sinned against me;
and
I will pardon all
their iniquities,
whereby
they have sinned,
and whereby
they
have transgressed against me.
The voice of joy,
and the voice
of gladness,
the voice
of the bridegroom,
and the voice
of the bride,
the voice
of them that
shall say,
Praise the LORD
of hosts:
for the LORD
is good;
for his mercy
endureth for ever:
and of them that
shall bring the sacrifice
of praise
into the house
of the LORD.
For I
will cause
to return the captivity
of the land,
as at the first,
saith the LORD.
It may be
that
the house
of Judah
will hear all the evil
which I
purpose
to do unto them;
that they
may return every man
from his evil way;
that I
may forgive
their iniquity
and their sin.
In those days,
and in that time,
saith the LORD,
the iniquity
of Israel
shall be sought for,
and there shall be none;
and the sins
of Judah,
and
they shall not be found:
for I
will pardon them whom
I reserve.
For Israel
hath not been forsaken,
nor Judah
of his God,
of the LORD
of hosts;
though their land
was filled
with sin
against the Holy One
of Israel.
It is of the LORD's mercies
that we
are not consumed,
because
his compassions
fail not.
They are
new every morning:
great is thy faithfulness.
For the LORD
will not cast off
for ever:
But
though he
cause grief,
yet will
he have compassion
according to
the multitude
of his mercies.
For he
doth not afflict willingly nor
grieve the children
of men.
Yet,
behold,
therein shall be left
a remnant
that shall be brought forth,
both sons
and daughters:
behold,
they shall come forth
unto you,
and ye
shall see
their way
and their doings:
and
ye shall be comforted concerning
the evil that
I have brought
upon Jerusalem,
even concerning all
that
I have brought
upon it.
And
when I
passed
by thee,
and saw thee polluted
in thine own blood,
I said unto thee
when thou
wast in thy blood,
Live;
yea,
I said unto thee
when thou
wast in thy blood,
Live.
So will
I make
my fury toward thee
to rest,
and my jealousy
shall depart
from thee,
and
I will be quiet,
and will be
no more angry.
That thou
mayest remember,
and be confounded,
and never open thy
mouth any more
because of thy shame,
when
I am pacified toward thee
for all
that thou
hast done,
saith the Lord GOD.
Have
I any pleasure
at all
that the wicked
should die?
saith the Lord GOD:
and
not
that he
should return
from his ways,
and live?
Cast away
from you all
your transgressions,
whereby
ye have transgressed;
and make
you a new heart
and a new spirit:
for why
will
ye die,
O house
of Israel?
For I
have no pleasure
in the death
of him that dieth,
saith the Lord GOD:
wherefore turn yourselves,
and live ye.
Nevertheless
mine
eye
spared them
from destroying them,
neither did
I make
an end
of them
in the wilderness.
And ye
shall know
that I
am the LORD,
when
I shall bring you
into the land
of Israel,
into the country
for the which
I lifted
up mine hand
to give it
to your fathers.
Say unto them,
As I live,
saith the Lord GOD,
I have no pleasure
in the death
of the wicked;
but
that the wicked turn
from his way
and live:
turn ye,
turn
ye from your evil ways;
for why
will
ye die,
O house
of Israel?
Then will
I sprinkle
clean
water upon you,
and
ye shall be clean:
from all your filthiness,
and
from all your idols,
will
I cleanse you.
It is thou,
O king,
that art
grown
and become strong:
for thy greatness
is grown,
and reacheth unto heaven,
and thy dominion
to the end
of the earth.
And whereas
the king
saw a watcher
and an holy one
coming down
from heaven,
and saying,
Hew the tree down,
and destroy it;
yet leave
the stump
of the roots
thereof in the earth,
even with a band
of iron
and brass,
in the tender grass
of the field;
and let
it be wet
with the dew
of heaven,
and let
his portion
be with the beasts
of the field,
till seven times
pass over him;
This is the interpretation,
O king,
and this
is the decree
of the most High,
which is come upon
my lord the king:
That they
shall drive thee
from men,
and thy
dwelling
shall be
with the beasts
of the field,
and
they shall make
thee
to eat grass
as oxen,
and
they shall wet thee
with the dew
of heaven,
and seven times
shall pass
over thee,
till thou
know
that the most High
ruleth in the kingdom
of men,
and giveth
it to whomsoever
he will.
And whereas
they commanded
to leave
the stump
of the tree roots;
thy kingdom
shall be sure
unto thee,
after that thou
shalt have known
that the heavens
do rule.
Wherefore,
O king,
let my counsel
be acceptable
unto thee,
and break off thy
sins
by righteousness,
and thine iniquities
by shewing mercy
to the poor;
if it
may be
a lengthening
of thy tranquillity.
And I
prayed
unto the LORD my God,
and made my confession,
and said,
O Lord,
the great
and dreadful God,
keeping the covenant
and mercy
to them that love him,
and to them
that keep
his commandments;
To the Lord
our God
belong mercies
and forgivenesses,
though we
have rebelled against him;
Therefore,
behold,
I will allure her,
and bring her
into the wilderness,
and speak comfortably
unto her.
And
I will sow her
unto me
in the earth;
and I
will have
mercy upon her
that had not obtained mercy;
and I
will say
to them
which were not
my people,
Thou art my people;
and
they shall say,
Thou art my God.
How shall
I give thee
up, Ephraim?
how shall
I deliver thee,
Israel?
how shall
I make thee
as Admah?
how shall
I set thee
as Zeboim?
mine heart
is turned within me,
my repentings
are kindled together.
I will not execute
the fierceness
of mine anger,
I will not return
to destroy Ephraim:
for I
am God,
and not man;
the Holy One
in the midst
of thee:
and
I will not enter
into the city.
I will heal
their backsliding,
I will love them freely:
for mine
anger
is turned away from him.
And rend
your heart,
and
not your garments,
and turn
unto the LORD your God:
for he
is gracious
and merciful,
slow to anger,
and of great kindness,
and repenteth him
of the evil.
The LORD
repented for this:
It shall not be,
saith the LORD.
And he
prayed
unto the LORD,
and said,
I pray thee,
O LORD,
was not
this my saying,
when
I was yet
in my country?
Therefore I
fled before
unto Tarshish:
for I
knew that
thou art
a gracious God,
and merciful,
slow to anger,
and of great kindness,
and repentest thee
of the evil.
Then said
the LORD,
Thou
hast had
pity
on the gourd,
for the which
thou hast not laboured,
neither madest
it grow;
which came up
in a night,
and perished
in a night:
And should not
I spare Nineveh,
that great city,
wherein are more
then sixscore thousand persons
that cannot discern
between their right hand
and their left hand;
and
also much cattle?
Who is a God like
unto thee,
that pardoneth iniquity,
and passeth
by the transgression
of the remnant
of his heritage?
he retaineth not his anger
for ever,
because
he delighteth in mercy.
He will turn again,
he will have compassion
upon us;
he will subdue
our iniquities;
and
thou wilt cast all
their sins
into the depths
of the sea.
The LORD
is slow to anger,
and great
in power,
and will not
at all acquit the wicked:
the LORD
hath his way
in the whirlwind
and in the storm,
and the clouds
are the dust
of his feet.
And the coast
shall be
for the remnant
of the house
of Judah;
they shall feed
thereupon:
in the houses
of Ashkelon
shall
they lie down
in the evening:
for the LORD
their God
shall visit them,
and turn away
their captivity.
Therefore thus
saith the LORD;
I am returned to Jerusalem
with mercies:
my house
shall be built in it,
saith the LORD
of hosts,
and a line
shall be stretched forth
upon Jerusalem.
For behold
the stone that
I have laid
before Joshua;
upon one stone
shall be
seven eyes:
behold,
I will engrave
the graving
thereof,
saith the LORD
of hosts,
and I
will remove
the iniquity
of that land
in one day.
And
I will strengthen
the house
of Judah,
and I
will save
the house
of Joseph,
and
I will bring them again
to place them;
for I
have mercy
upon them:
and they
shall be
as though
I had not cast them off:
for I
am the LORD
their God,
and will hear them.
For I
am the LORD,
I change not;
therefore ye sons
of Jacob
are not consumed.
For if
ye forgive men
their trespasses,
your heavenly Father
will also forgive you:
For the Son
of man
is come to save
that which
was lost.
How think ye?
if a man
have an hundred sheep,
and one
of them be gone astray,
doth
he not leave
the ninety
and nine,
and goeth into the mountains,
and seeketh
that which
is gone astray?
And
if so
be that
he find it,
verily
I say unto you,
he rejoiceth more
of that sheep,
than
of the ninety
and nine which
went not astray.
Even so
it is not the will
of your Father
which is in heaven,
that one
of these little
ones should perish.
Therefore is
the kingdom
of heaven
likened
unto a certain king,
which would take account
of his servants.
And
when
he had begun
to reckon,
one
was brought unto him,
which owed him
ten thousand talents.
But forasmuch as he
had not to pay,
his lord
commanded him
to be sold,
and his wife,
and children,
and all that
he had,
and payment
to be made.
The servant
therefore fell down,
and worshipped him,
saying,
Lord,
have patience
with me,
and
I will pay
thee all.
Then the lord
of that servant
was moved
with compassion,
and loosed him,
and forgave him
the debt.
And his mercy
is on them that fear him
from generation to generation.
To give knowledge
of salvation
unto his people
by the remission
of their sins,
Through the tender mercy
of our God;
whereby the dayspring from
on high
hath visited us,
Be ye therefore merciful,
as your Father
also is merciful.
Repent ye
therefore,
and be converted,
that your sins
may be blotted out,
when the times
of refreshing
shall come
from the presence
of the Lord.
And the times
of this ignorance
God winked at;
but now commandeth all men every
where to repent:
To open their eyes,
and
to turn them
from darkness
to light,
and
from the power
of Satan
unto God,
that they
may receive forgiveness
of sins,
and inheritance
among them which
are sanctified
by faith
that is in me.
For there is no difference
between the Jew
and the Greek:
for the same Lord
over all is rich
unto all that call
upon him.
For God
hath concluded them all
in unbelief,
that he
might have mercy
upon all.
And
that the Gentiles
might glorify God
for his mercy;
as it is written,
For this cause
I will confess
to thee
among the Gentiles,
and sing
unto thy name.
But by the grace
of God I
am
what I am:
and his grace which
was bestowed
upon me was not
in vain;
but
I laboured more abundantly than
they all:
yet not I,
but the grace
of God
which was with me.
Blessed
be God,
even the Father
of our Lord Jesus Christ,
the Father
of mercies,
and the God
of all comfort;
For all
things are for your sakes,
that the abundant grace
might through the thanksgiving
of many redound
to the glory
of God.
And
he said unto me,
My grace
is sufficient
for thee:
for my strength
is made
perfect in weakness.
Most gladly therefore will
I rather glory
in my infirmities,
that the power
of Christ
may rest upon me.
To the praise
of the glory
of his grace,
wherein he
hath made us
accepted
in the beloved.
In whom
we have redemption
through his blood,
the forgiveness
of sins,
according to
the riches
of his grace;
Wherein he
hath abounded toward us
in all wisdom
and prudence;
But God,
who is rich in mercy,
for his great
love wherewith
he loved us,
Even
when we
were dead
in sins,
hath quickened
us together
with Christ,
(by grace
ye are saved;)
And hath raised us up
together,
and made us
sit together
in heavenly places
in Christ Jesus:
That in the ages
to come
he might shew
the exceeding riches
of his grace
in his kindness
toward us
through Christ Jesus.
Who was before a blasphemer,
and a persecutor,
and injurious:
but
I obtained mercy,
because
I did it
ignorantly in unbelief.
Not by works
of righteousness
which we
have done,
but according to
his mercy
he saved us,
by the washing
of regeneration,
and renewing
of the Holy Ghost;
Let us
therefore come boldly
unto the throne
of grace,
that we
may obtain mercy,
and find
grace to help
in time
of need.
For I
will be merciful
to their unrighteousness,
and their sins
and their iniquities
will
I remember no more.
For he
shall have judgment
without mercy,
that hath shewed
no mercy;
and mercy
rejoiceth against judgment.
Draw nigh to God,
and
he will draw nigh
to you.
Cleanse your hands,
ye sinners;
and purify
your hearts,
ye double minded.
Behold,
we count them happy which endure.
Ye have heard
of the patience
of Job,
and have seen
the end
of the Lord;
that the Lord
is very pitiful,
and of tender mercy.
Blessed
be
the God
and Father
of our Lord Jesus Christ,
which according to
his abundant mercy
hath begotten us again
unto a
lively hope
by the resurrection
of Jesus Christ
from the dead,
But the God
of all grace,
who hath called us
unto his eternal glory
by Christ Jesus,
after that
ye have suffered
a while,
make you perfect,
stablish,
strengthen,
settle you.
The Lord
is not slack concerning
his promise,
as some men
count slackness;
but is longsuffering
to us-ward,
not willing that any
should perish,
but that
all should come
to repentance.
And account that
the longsuffering
of our Lord
is salvation;
even as
our beloved brother Paul
also according to
the wisdom given
unto him hath written
unto you;
If we
confess our sins,
he is faithful
and
just to forgive us
our sins,
and
to cleanse us
from all unrighteousness.
And
I gave
her space
to repent
of her fornication;
and
she repented not.
