And the eyes
of them both
were opened,
and
they knew that
they were naked;
and they
sewed
fig
leaves together,
and made themselves aprons.
And they
heard
the voice
of the LORD God
walking
in the garden
in the cool
of the day:
and Adam
and his wife
hid themselves
from the presence
of the LORD God
amongst the trees
of the garden.
And the LORD God
called
unto Adam,
and
said unto him,
Where art thou?
And he said,
I heard
thy voice
in the garden,
and I
was afraid,
because
I was naked;
and I hid myself.
And he said,
Who told thee
that thou
wast naked?
Hast
thou eaten
of the tree,
whereof
I commanded thee
that thou
shouldest not eat?
And the man said,
The woman
whom thou
gavest to be with me,
she gave me
of the tree,
and I
did eat.
And the LORD God
said
unto the woman,
What is this
that thou
hast done?
And the woman said,
The serpent
beguiled me,
and I
did eat.
And the LORD God
said
unto the serpent,
Because
thou hast done this,
thou art cursed above all cattle,
and above every beast
of the field;
upon thy belly
shalt
thou go,
and dust
shalt thou
eat all the days
of thy life:
And
I will put enmity
between thee
and the woman,
and between thy
seed
and her seed;
it shall bruise
thy head,
and
thou shalt bruise
his heel.
Unto the woman
he said,
I will greatly multiply
thy sorrow
and thy conception;
in sorrow
thou shalt bring forth children;
and thy
desire
shall be
to thy husband,
and
he shall rule
over thee.
And unto Adam
he said,
Because
thou hast hearkened
unto the voice
of thy wife,
and hast eaten
of the tree,
of which
I commanded thee,
saying,
Thou shalt not eat of it:
cursed is the ground
for thy sake;
in sorrow
shalt
thou eat
of it all
the days
of thy life;
Thorns also
and thistles
shall
it bring forth
to thee;
and
thou shalt eat
the herb
of the field;
In the sweat
of thy
face
shalt thou
eat bread,
till thou
return unto the ground;
for out of it wast
thou taken:
for dust
thou art,
and unto dust
shalt thou return.
And Adam
called his wife's name Eve;
because
she was the mother
of all living.
Unto Adam
also and
to his wife
did
the LORD God
make
coats of skins,
and clothed them.
And the LORD God said,
Behold,
the man
is become
as one of us,
to know good
and evil:
and now,
lest
he put forth
his hand,
and take also
of the tree
of life,
and eat,
and live
for ever:
Therefore the LORD God
sent
him forth
from the garden
of Eden,
to till the ground
from whence he was taken.
So he
drove out the man;
and he
placed
at the east
of the garden
of Eden Cherubims,
and a flaming sword
which turned every way,
to keep the way
of the tree
of life.
And now art
thou cursed
from the earth,
which hath opened
her mouth
to receive
thy brother's blood
from thy hand;
When
thou tillest the ground,
it shall not henceforth yield
unto thee her strength;
a fugitive
and a vagabond
shalt thou
be in the earth.
And Cain
said
unto the LORD,
My punishment
is greater than
I can bear.
Behold,
thou hast driven me
out this day
from the face
of the earth;
and from thy
face
shall
I be hid;
and I
shall be
a fugitive
and a vagabond
in the earth;
and it
shall come
to pass,
that every one
that findeth me
shall slay me.
And God
saw that
the wickedness
of man
was great
in the earth,
and
that every imagination
of the thoughts
of his heart
was only evil continually.
And it
repented
the LORD that
he had made man
on the earth,
and it
grieved him
at his heart.
And the LORD said,
I will destroy man whom
I have created
from the face
of the earth;
both man,
and beast,
and the creeping thing,
and the fowls
of the air;
for it
repenteth me that
I have made them.
Lest
there should be
among you man,
or woman,
or family,
or tribe,
whose heart
turneth away
this day
from the LORD our God,
to go
and serve the gods
of these nations;
lest
there should be
among you
a root
that beareth
gall
and wormwood;
Even as
I have seen,
they that plow iniquity,
and sow
wickedness,
reap the same.
For wrath
killeth the foolish man,
and envy
slayeth the silly one.
For thou
writest bitter things
against me,
and makest me
to possess the iniquities
of my youth.
His bones
are full of
the sin
of his youth,
which shall lie down
with him
in the dust.
Destroy
thou them,
O God;
let them
fall
by their own counsels;
cast them out
in the multitude
of their transgressions;
for they have rebelled
against thee.
The heathen
are sunk down
in the pit
that they made:
in the net
which they
hid
is
their own foot taken.
The LORD
is known
by the judgment
which he executeth:
the wicked
is snared
in the work
of his own hands.

The wicked
in his pride
doth persecute
the poor:
let them
be taken
in the devices
that
they have imagined.
And
he shall bring
upon them their own iniquity,
and shall cut
them off
in their own wickedness;
yea,
the LORD our God
shall cut them off.
Let
the wicked fall
into their own nets,
whilst that
I withal escape.
Therefore shall
they eat
of the fruit
of their own way,
and be filled
with their own devices.
The wise
shall inherit glory:
but shame
shall be
the promotion
of fools.
His own iniquities
shall take
the wicked himself,
and
he shall be holden
with the cords
of his sins.
He shall die
without instruction;
and
in the greatness
of his folly
he shall go astray.
But he
that sinneth against me wrongeth
his own soul:
all
they
that hate me
love death.
The fear
of the wicked,
it shall come upon him:
but
the desire
of the righteous
shall be granted.
The way
of the LORD
is strength
to the upright:
but destruction
shall be to the workers
of iniquity.
The righteous
shall never be removed:
but the wicked
shall not inhabit
the earth.
The mouth
of the just bringeth
forth wisdom:
but the froward tongue
shall be cut out.
The righteousness
of the perfect
shall direct
his way:
but the wicked
shall fall
by his own wickedness.
The righteousness
of the upright
shall deliver them:
but transgressors
shall be taken
in their own naughtiness.
When a
wicked man dieth,
his expectation
shall perish:
and the hope
of unjust men perisheth.
The wicked
worketh a deceitful work:
but to him
that
soweth
righteousness
shall be
a sure reward.
As righteousness
tendeth to life:
so he
that
pursueth
evil pursueth it
to his own death.
He that
diligently seeketh good
procureth favour:
but
he that
seeketh mischief,
it shall come unto him.
He that
troubleth
his own house
shall inherit
the wind:
and the fool
shall be servant
to the wise
of heart.
The wicked
is snared by the transgression
of his lips:
but the just shall come
out of trouble.
A man
shall be satisfied
with good
by the fruit
of his mouth:
and
the recompence
of a man's hands
shall be rendered unto him.
There shall
no evil
happen
to the just:
but the wicked
shall be filled
with mischief.
The righteous
is more excellent
than his neighbour:
but the way
of the wicked
seduceth them.
A righteous man
hateth lying:
but a wicked man
is loathsome,
and cometh to shame.
Good understanding
giveth favour:
but the way
of transgressors
is hard.
He that
soweth
iniquity
shall reap vanity:
and
the rod
of his anger
shall fail.
As a bird
that wandereth from her nest,
so is a man
that wandereth from his place.
The wicked
flee
when
no man pursueth:
but the righteous
are bold
as a lion.
In the transgression
of an evil man
there is a snare:
but the righteous
doth sing and rejoice.
Such is the way
of an adulterous woman;
she eateth,
and wipeth her mouth,
and saith,
I have done
no wickedness.
The shew
of their countenance
doth witness against them;
and
they declare
their sin
as Sodom,
they hide it not.
Woe unto their soul!
for they
have rewarded evil
unto themselves.
Woe unto the wicked!
it shall be ill
with him:
for the reward
of his hands
shall be given him.
For wickedness
burneth
as the fire:
it shall devour
the briers
and thorns,
and shall kindle
in the thickets
of the forest,
and
they shall mount
up like
the lifting up
of smoke.
Prepare
slaughter
for his children
for the iniquity
of their fathers;
that they
do not rise,
nor possess
the land,
nor fill
the face
of the world
with cities.
Behold,
all
ye that
kindle
a fire,
that compass yourselves about
with sparks:
walk in the light
of your fire,
and in the sparks
that
ye have kindled.
This shall
ye have
of mine hand;
ye shall lie down
in sorrow.
But the wicked
are like
the troubled sea,
when it
cannot rest,
whose waters
cast up mire
and dirt.
There is no peace,
saith my God,
to the wicked.
Hast
thou not procured this
unto thyself,
in that thou
hast forsaken the LORD
thy God,
when he
led thee
by the way?
Thine own wickedness
shall correct thee,
and thy backslidings
shall reprove thee:
know therefore
and see
that it
is
an evil thing
and bitter,
that thou
hast forsaken the LORD
thy God,
and that my fear
is not in thee,
saith the Lord GOD
of hosts.
Thy way
and thy doings
have procured these things
unto thee;
this is thy wickedness,
because
it is bitter,
because
it reacheth unto thine heart.
Your iniquities
have turned away
these things,
and your sins
have withholden good things
from you.
Do they
provoke me
to anger?
saith the LORD:
do they
not provoke themselves
to the confusion
of their own faces?
And the people
to whom
they prophesy
shall be cast out
in the streets
of Jerusalem
because
of the famine
and the sword;
and
they shall have none
to bury them,
them,
their wives,
nor their sons,
nor their daughters:
for I
will pour
their wickedness
upon them.
But
I will punish you
according to
the fruit
of your doings,
saith the LORD:
and I
will kindle
a fire
in the forest
thereof,
and it
shall devour all things round
about it.
But
as for them whose heart
walketh after the heart
of their detestable things
and their abominations,
I will recompense
their way
upon their own heads,
saith the Lord GOD.
Thou hast walked
in the way
of thy sister;
therefore will
I give
her cup
into thine hand.
Thus saith the Lord GOD;
Thou
shalt drink
of thy sister's cup
deep
and large:
thou shalt be laughed
to scorn
and had
in derision;
it containeth much.
Thou shalt be filled
with drunkenness
and sorrow,
with the cup
of astonishment
and desolation,
with the cup
of thy sister Samaria.
Thou shalt even drink it
and suck it out,
and
thou
shalt break
the sherds thereof,
and pluck
off thine own breasts:
for I
have spoken it,
saith the Lord GOD.
Therefore thus
saith the Lord GOD;
Because
thou hast forgotten me,
and cast me
behind thy back,
therefore bear
thou
also thy lewdness
and thy whoredoms.
For they
have sown
the wind,
and
they shall reap
the whirlwind:
it hath
no stalk;
the bud
shall yield
no meal:
if so
be
it yield,
the strangers
shall swallow it up.
Ye have plowed
wickedness,
ye have reaped
iniquity;
ye have eaten
the fruit
of lies:
because
thou didst trust
in thy way,
in the multitude
of thy mighty men.
Ephraim
provoked him
to anger most bitterly:
therefore shall
he leave
his blood
upon him,
and his reproach
shall
his LORD
return unto him.
O Israel,
thou hast destroyed
thyself;
but in me is
thine help.
Notwithstanding
the land
shall be
desolate
because of them that
dwell therein,
for the fruit
of their doings.
For from within,
out of the heart
of men,
proceed evil thoughts,
adulteries,
fornications,
murders,
Thefts,
covetousness,
wickedness,
deceit,
lasciviousness,
an evil eye,
blasphemy,
pride,
foolishness:
All these evil things
come from within,
and defile
the man.
And he said,
Who art thou,
Lord?
And the Lord said,
I am Jesus whom
thou persecutest:
it is hard
for thee
to kick
against the pricks.
Wherefore,
as by one man
sin entered
into the world,
and death
by sin;
and so death
passed
upon all men,
for that
all have sinned:
(For
until the law
sin
was in the world:
but sin
is not imputed
when there is
no law.
Nevertheless
death
reigned
from Adam
to Moses,
even over them
that had not sinned
after the similitude
of Adam's transgression,
who is
the figure
of him that
was to come.
But not as the offence,
so also is
the free gift.
For if
through the offence
of one many
be dead,
much more
the grace of God,
and the gift
by grace,
which is by one man,
Jesus Christ,
hath abounded
unto many.
And not as it
was by one
that sinned,
so is the gift:
for the judgment
was by one
to condemnation,
but the free
gift is of many offences
unto justification.
For if
by one man's offence
death
reigned
by one;
much more
they
which receive abundance
of grace
and of the gift
of righteousness
shall reign
in life
by one,
Jesus Christ.)
Therefore as
by the offence
of one judgment
came upon all men
to condemnation;
even so
by the righteousness
of one
the free gift
came upon all men
unto justification
of life.
For as by one man's disobedience
many were made
sinners,
so by the obedience
of one
shall
many be made righteous.
Moreover the law entered,
that the offence
might abound.
But
where sin abounded,
grace did much more abound:
That as
sin
hath reigned
unto death,
even so
might grace
reign
through righteousness
unto eternal life
by Jesus Christ our Lord.
For when
we were in the flesh,
the motions
of sins,
which were by the law,
did work
in our members
to bring forth fruit
unto death.
For ye
are yet carnal:
for whereas
there is
among you envying,
and strife,
and divisions,
are
ye not carnal,
and walk
as men?
Know
ye not
that the unrighteous
shall not inherit
the kingdom
of God?
Be not deceived:
neither fornicators,
nor idolaters,
nor adulterers,
nor effeminate,
nor abusers
of themselves
with mankind,
Nor thieves,
nor covetous,
nor drunkards,
nor revilers,
nor extortioners,
shall inherit
the kingdom
of God.
And such
were some of you:
but
ye are washed,
but
ye are sanctified,
but
ye are justified in the name
of the Lord Jesus,
and by the Spirit
of our God.
Now
the works
of the flesh
are manifest,
which are these;
Adultery,
fornication,
uncleanness,
lasciviousness,
Idolatry,
witchcraft,
hatred,
variance,
emulations,
wrath,
strife,
seditions,
heresies,
Envyings,
murders,
drunkenness,
revellings,
and such like:
of the which
I tell you
before,
as I
have also told you
in time past,
that they
which do
such things
shall not inherit
the kingdom
of God.
Be not deceived;
God is not mocked:
for whatsoever
a man soweth,
that shall
he also reap.
For the time past
of our life
may suffice
us to have wrought
the will
of the Gentiles,
when we
walked
in lasciviousness,
lusts,
excess of wine,
revellings,
banquetings,
and abominable idolatries:
