And Esau
ran to meet him,
and embraced him,
and fell
on his neck,
and kissed him:
and they wept.
Take,
I pray thee,
my blessing
that is brought
to thee;
because God
hath dealt graciously with me,
and
because
I have enough.
And he
urged him,
and
he took it.
Now therefore be not grieved,
nor angry
with yourselves,
that ye
sold me hither:
for God
did send me
before you
to preserve life.
For these two years
hath the famine
been in the land:
and yet there are
five years,
in the which
there shall
neither be earing
nor harvest.
And God
sent me
before you
to preserve
you a posterity
in the earth,
and
to save your lives
by a great deliverance.
So now
it was not you
that sent me hither,
but God:
and
he hath made me
a father
to Pharaoh,
and lord
of all his house,
and a ruler
throughout all
the land
of Egypt.
Haste ye,
and go
up to my father,
and say unto him,
Thus saith thy son Joseph,
God hath made me
lord
of all Egypt:
come down unto me,
tarry not:
And
thou shalt dwell
in the land
of Goshen,
and
thou
shalt be near unto me,
thou,
and thy children,
and thy children's children,
and thy flocks,
and thy herds,
and all
that thou hast:
And there will
I nourish thee;
for yet there are five years
of famine;
lest thou,
and thy household,
and all
that thou hast,
come
to poverty.
And,
behold,
your eyes see,
and the eyes
of my brother Benjamin,
that it
is my mouth
that speaketh unto you.
And ye
shall tell
my father
of all
my glory
in Egypt,
and of all
that
ye have seen;
and
ye shall haste
and bring down
my father hither.
And he
fell
upon his brother Benjamin's neck,
and wept;
and Benjamin
wept
upon his neck.
Moreover he
kissed all
his brethren,
and
wept upon them:
and after that
his brethren
talked with him.
And Joseph
said unto them,
Fear not:
for am
I in the place
of God?
But as for you,
ye thought evil
against me;
but God
meant it
unto good,
to bring to pass,
as it is this day,
to save much people alive.
Now therefore
fear
ye not:
I will nourish you,
and your little ones.
And
he comforted them,
and
spake kindly unto them.
If thou
meet thine
enemy's ox
or his ass going astray,
thou shalt surely bring
it back
to him again.
If thou
see the ass
of him that
hateth thee lying
under his burden,
and wouldest forbear
to help him,
thou
shalt surely help with him.
And Miriam and
Aaron spake against Moses
because
of the Ethiopian woman whom
he had married:
for he
had married an Ethiopian woman.
And they said,
Hath the LORD
indeed spoken only
by Moses?
hath
he not spoken also by us?
And the LORD
heard it.
(Now the man Moses
was very meek,
above all
the men
which were upon the face
of the earth.)
And the LORD
spake suddenly
unto Moses,
and unto Aaron,
and unto Miriam,
Come out
ye three
unto the tabernacle
of the congregation.
And
they three
came out.
And the LORD
came down
in the pillar
of the cloud,
and stood
in the door
of the tabernacle,
and called Aaron
and Miriam:
and
they both
came forth.
And he said,
Hear now my words:
If there be
a prophet
among you,
I the LORD
will make myself
known
unto him
in a vision,
and will speak
unto him
in a dream.
My servant Moses
is not so,
who is faithful
in all mine house.
With him will
I speak
mouth to mouth,
even apparently,
and
not in dark speeches;
and
the similitude
of the LORD
shall
he behold:
wherefore
then were
ye not afraid
to speak
against my servant Moses?
And
the anger
of the LORD
was kindled against them;
and he departed.
And the cloud
departed from
off the tabernacle;
and,
behold,
Miriam became leprous,
white as snow:
and Aaron
looked
upon Miriam,
and,
behold,
she was leprous.
And Aaron
said
unto Moses, Alas,
my lord,
I beseech thee,
lay not
the sin
upon us,
wherein we
have done foolishly,
and
wherein we
have sinned.
Let her
not be
as one dead,
of whom
the flesh
is half
consumed
when
he cometh out of his
mother's womb.
And Moses
cried
unto the LORD,
saying,
Heal her now,
O God,
I beseech thee.
Behold,
this day
thine eyes
have seen how
that the LORD
had delivered
thee to day into mine
hand in the cave:
and some
bade me
kill thee:
but mine
eye
spared thee;
and I said,
I will not put forth
mine hand
against my lord;
for he
is the LORD's anointed.
Moreover,
my father,
see,
yea,
see the skirt
of thy robe
in my hand:
for in that
I cut off
the skirt
of thy robe,
and killed thee not,
know
thou
and see that
there is neither evil
nor transgression
in mine hand,
and
I have not sinned
against thee;
yet
thou huntest
my soul to take it.
The LORD judge
between me and thee,
and the LORD
avenge me
of thee:
but mine hand
shall not be
upon thee.
And David
said
to Abishai,
Destroy him not:
for who
can stretch
forth his hand
against the LORD's anointed,
and be guiltless?
The LORD
render
to every man
his righteousness
and his faithfulness;
for the LORD
delivered thee
into my hand
to day,
but
I would not stretch
forth mine
hand
against the LORD's anointed.
And David
said unto him,
How wast
thou not afraid
to stretch
forth thine hand
to destroy
the LORD's anointed?
And David
called one
of the young men,
and said,
Go near,
and
fall upon him.
And he
smote him
that he died.
And David
said unto him,
Thy blood
be upon thy head;
for thy
mouth
hath testified
against thee,
saying,
I have slain
the LORD's anointed.
And David
lamented
with this lamentation
over Saul
and over Jonathan
his son:
Then said Abishai
the son
of Zeruiah
unto the king,
Why should
this dead dog
curse
my lord the king?
let me go over,
I pray thee,
and take off
his head.
And the king said,
What
have
I to do
with you,
ye sons
of Zeruiah?
so let him curse,
because
the LORD
hath said unto him,
Curse David.
Who shall
then say,
Wherefore
hast
thou done so?
And David
said
to Abishai,
and
to all his servants,
Behold,
my son,
which came forth
of my bowels,
seeketh my life:
how much more now may
this Benjamite
do it?
let him alone,
and let him curse;
for the LORD
hath bidden him.
It may be
that the LORD
will look
on mine affliction,
and
that the LORD
will requite
me good
for his cursing
this day.
And
as David
and his men
went by
the way,
Shimei
went along
on the hill's side over
against him,
and cursed
as he went,
and threw
stones at him,
and cast dust.
Therefore the king
said
unto Shimei,
Thou shalt not die.
And the king
sware unto him.
So king Solomon sent,
and they
brought
him down
from the altar.
And he
came
and bowed himself
to king Solomon:
and Solomon
said unto him,
Go to thine house.
And,
behold,
thou hast with thee Shimei
the son of Gera,
a Benjamite
of Bahurim,
which cursed me
with a grievous curse
in the day
when
I went to Mahanaim:
but he
came down
to meet me
at Jordan,
and I
sware
to him
by the LORD,
saying,
I will not put thee
to death
with the sword.
Now therefore hold him not guiltless:
for thou art
a wise man,
and knowest
what thou
oughtest to do unto him;
but his hoar
head
bring
thou
down to the grave
with blood.
And he
gave
a sign the same day,
saying,
This is the sign
which the LORD
hath spoken;
Behold,
the altar
shall be rent,
and the ashes
that
are upon it
shall be poured out.
And it
came
to pass,
when
king Jeroboam
heard
the saying
of the man
of God,
which had cried
against the altar
in Bethel,
that he put forth
his hand
from the altar,
saying,
Lay hold on him.
And his hand,
which he
put forth against him,
dried up,
so that
he could not pull it
in again to him.
The altar
also was rent,
and the ashes
poured out
from the altar,
according to the sign
which the man
of God
had given
by the word
of the LORD.
And the king
answered
and said
unto the man
of God,
Intreat
now the face
of the LORD thy God,
and pray for me,
that my hand
may be restored me again.
And the man
of God
besought the LORD,
and the king's hand
was restored him again,
and became
as it
was before.
The discretion
of a man
deferreth his anger;
and it
is his glory
to pass
over a transgression.
Rejoice not
when thine enemy falleth,
and let not
thine heart
be glad
when
he stumbleth:
Say not,
I will do so
to him as he
hath done to me:
I will render
to the man
according to his work.
If thine enemy
be hungry,
give him bread
to eat;
and
if he
be thirsty,
give him
water to drink:
For thou
shalt heap coals
of fire
upon his head,
and the LORD
shall reward thee.
Also take no
heed unto all words
that are spoken;
lest
thou hear
thy servant curse thee:
Blessed are the merciful:
for they
shall obtain mercy.
But
I say unto you,
That ye
resist not evil:
but whosoever
shall smite
thee on thy
right cheek,
turn
to him the other also.
And
if any man
will sue thee
at the law,
and take away
thy coat,
let him
have
thy cloak also.
And whosoever
shall compel thee to go
a mile,
go with him twain.
Ye have heard
that it
hath been said,
Thou
shalt love
thy neighbour,
and hate
thine enemy.
But
I say unto you,
Love your enemies,
bless them that curse you,
do good
to them that hate you,
and pray for them
which despitefully use you,
and persecute you;
That ye
may be the children
of your Father
which is in heaven:
for he
maketh his sun
to rise
on the evil
and on the good,
and sendeth
rain on the just
and on the unjust.
For if
ye love them which love you,
what reward
have ye?
do not even the publicans
the same?
And forgive us
our debts,
as we
forgive our debtors.
For if
ye forgive men
their trespasses,
your heavenly Father
will also forgive you:
But
if ye
forgive not men
their trespasses,
neither will
your Father
forgive your trespasses.
Then came Peter
to him,
and said,
Lord,
how oft
shall
my brother
sin against me,
and
I forgive him?
till seven times?
Jesus
saith unto him,
I say not
unto thee,
Until seven times:
but,
Until seventy times seven.
Therefore is
the kingdom
of heaven
likened
unto a certain king,
which would take account
of his servants.
And
when
he had begun
to reckon,
one
was brought unto him,
which owed him
ten thousand talents.
But forasmuch as he
had not to pay,
his lord
commanded him
to be sold,
and his wife,
and children,
and all that
he had,
and payment
to be made.
The servant
therefore fell down,
and worshipped him,
saying,
Lord,
have patience
with me,
and
I will pay
thee all.
Then the lord
of that servant
was moved
with compassion,
and loosed him,
and forgave him
the debt.
But the same servant went out,
and found one
of his fellowservants,
which owed him
an hundred pence:
and
he laid
hands on him,
and took him
by the throat,
saying,
Pay me
that thou owest.
And his fellowservant
fell down
at his feet,
and besought him,
saying,
Have patience
with me,
and
I will pay
thee all.
And he
would not:
but went
and cast him
into prison,
till he
should pay
the debt.
So when his fellowservants
saw
what was done,
they were very sorry,
and came
and told
unto their lord all
that was done.
Then his lord,
after that
he had called him,
said unto him,
O thou wicked servant,
I forgave thee all
that debt,
because
thou desiredst me:
Shouldest not
thou also have had compassion
on thy fellowservant,
even as
I had
pity on thee?
And his lord
was wroth,
and delivered him
to the tormentors,
till he
should pay
all
that was due
unto him.
So likewise
shall my heavenly Father
do also unto you,
if ye
from your hearts
forgive not every one
his brother
their trespasses.
And
when
ye stand praying,
forgive,
if ye
have ought
against any:
that your Father also which
is in heaven
may forgive
you your trespasses.
But love
ye your enemies,
and do good,
and lend,
hoping
for nothing again;
and your reward
shall be great,
and
ye shall be the children
of the Highest:
for he
is kind
unto the unthankful
and to the evil.
Be ye therefore merciful,
as your Father
also is merciful.
Judge not,
and
ye shall not be judged:
condemn not,
and
ye shall not be condemned:
forgive,
and
ye shall be forgiven:
Take heed
to yourselves:
If thy brother
trespass against thee,
rebuke him;
and if he repent,
forgive him.
And
if he
trespass
against thee seven times
in a day,
and seven times
in a day
turn again
to thee,
saying,
I repent;
thou shalt forgive him.
Then said
Jesus, Father,
forgive them;
for they
know not
what they do.
And
they parted
his raiment,
and cast lots.
Bless them
which persecute you:
bless,
and curse not.
Recompense
to no man
evil for evil.
Provide things honest
in the sight
of all men.
Dearly beloved,
avenge not yourselves,
but
rather give
place unto wrath:
for it
is written,
Vengeance is mine;
I will repay,
saith the Lord.
Therefore if thine enemy hunger,
feed him;
if he thirst,
give him drink:
for in so
doing
thou shalt heap coals
of fire
on his head.
Be not overcome
of evil,
but overcome evil
with good.
And labour,
working
with our own hands:
being reviled,
we bless;
being persecuted,
we suffer it:
Being defamed,
we intreat:
we are made as the filth
of the world,
and are the offscouring
of all things
unto this day.
And be
ye kind one
to another,
tenderhearted,
forgiving one
another,
even as God
for Christ's sake
hath forgiven you.
Forbearing one
another,
and forgiving one
another,
if any man
have a quarrel
against any:
even as Christ
forgave you,
so also do ye.
I beseech thee
for my son Onesimus,
whom
I have begotten
in my bonds:
Not rendering
evil for evil,
or railing for railing:
but contrariwise blessing;
knowing that
ye are thereunto called,
that ye
should inherit
a blessing.
