And Enoch
walked
with God after he
begat Methuselah three hundred years,
and begat sons
and daughters:
And Enoch
walked
with God:
and he was not;
for God
took him.
These are the generations
of Noah:
Noah was a
just man
and perfect
in his generations,
and Noah
walked
with God.
And God
said
unto Noah,
The end
of all flesh
is come
before me;
for the earth
is filled
with violence
through them;
and,
behold,
I will destroy them
with the earth.
Make
thee an ark
of gopher wood;
rooms
shalt
thou make
in the ark,
and shalt pitch
it within and without
with pitch.
And this
is the fashion which
thou shalt make it of:
The length
of the ark
shall be
three hundred cubits,
the breadth
of it fifty cubits,
and the height
of it thirty cubits.
A window
shalt
thou make
to the ark,
and in a cubit
shalt thou
finish it above;
and
the door
of the ark
shalt
thou set
in the side
thereof;
with lower,
second,
and third stories
shalt thou
make it.
And,
behold,
I,
even I,
do bring a flood
of waters
upon the earth,
to destroy all flesh,
wherein is
the breath
of life,
from under heaven;
and every thing
that is
in the earth
shall die.
But with thee
will
I establish my covenant;
and
thou shalt come
into the ark,
thou,
and thy sons,
and thy wife,
and thy
sons' wives
with thee.
And
of every living thing
of all flesh,
two of every sort
shalt thou
bring
into the ark,
to keep them alive
with thee;
they shall be male
and female.
Of fowls
after their kind,
and of cattle
after their kind,
of every creeping thing
of the earth
after his kind,
two of every sort
shall come
unto thee,
to keep them alive.
And take
thou unto thee
of all food
that is eaten,
and
thou shalt gather
it to thee;
and it
shall be
for food
for thee,
and for them.
Thus did Noah;
according to all
that God
commanded him,
so did he.
And God
spake unto Noah,
saying,
Go forth
of the ark,
thou,
and thy wife,
and thy sons,
and thy
sons' wives
with thee.
Bring forth
with thee every living thing
that is
with thee,
of all flesh,
both of fowl,
and of cattle,
and
of every creeping thing
that creepeth
upon the earth;
that they
may breed abundantly
in the earth,
and be fruitful,
and multiply
upon the earth.
Now the LORD
had said
unto Abram,
Get thee
out of thy country,
and from thy kindred,
and from thy father's house,
unto a land
that I
will shew thee:
And
I will make
of thee
a great nation,
and
I will bless thee,
and make thy
name great;
and thou
shalt be
a blessing:
And
I will bless them
that
bless thee,
and curse him that
curseth thee:
and in thee
shall
all families
of the earth
be blessed.
And the LORD
appeared
unto Abram,
and said,
Unto thy
seed
will
I give this land:
and there builded
he an altar
unto the LORD,
who appeared unto him.
And he said,
Hagar,
Sarai's maid,
whence camest thou?
and whither wilt
thou go?
And she said,
I flee
from the face
of my mistress Sarai.
And
the angel
of the LORD
said unto her,
Return to thy mistress,
and submit thyself
under her hands.
And
the angel
of the LORD
said unto her,
I will multiply
thy seed exceedingly,
that it
shall not be numbered
for multitude.
And
the angel
of the LORD
said unto her,
Behold,
thou art
with child
and shalt bear a son,
and shalt call
his name Ishmael;
because
the LORD
hath heard
thy affliction.
And he
will be
a wild man;
his hand
will be
against every man,
and every man's hand
against him;
and
he shall dwell in the presence
of all
his brethren.
And
when Abram
was
ninety years old
and nine,
the LORD
appeared
to Abram,
and
said unto him,
I am the Almighty God;
walk before me,
and be
thou perfect.
And I
will make
my covenant
between me and thee,
and will multiply
thee exceedingly.
And the LORD
appeared
unto him
in the plains
of Mamre:
and
he sat
in the tent door
in the heat
of the day;
And it
came
to pass
after these things,
that God
did tempt Abraham,
and
said unto him,
Abraham:
and he said,
Behold,
here I am.
And he said,
Take now
thy son,
thine only son Isaac,
whom thou lovest,
and get thee
into the land
of Moriah;
and offer him there for a
burnt
offering
upon one
of the mountains
which I
will tell thee of.
And he said,
Lay
not thine hand
upon the lad,
neither do
thou any thing
unto him:
for now
I know that
thou fearest God,
seeing
thou hast not withheld
thy son,
thine only son
from me.
And said,
By myself
have
I sworn,
saith the LORD,
for because
thou hast done
this thing,
and hast not withheld
thy son,
thine only son:
That in blessing
I will bless thee,
and
in multiplying
I will multiply
thy seed
as the stars
of the heaven,
and as the sand
which is upon the sea shore;
and thy
seed
shall possess
the gate
of his enemies;
And in thy
seed
shall all
the nations
of the earth
be blessed;
because
thou hast obeyed
my voice.
And the LORD
appeared unto him,
and said,
Go not down
into Egypt;
dwell in the land
which I
shall tell thee of:
And the LORD
appeared
unto him the same night,
and said,
I am the God
of Abraham
thy father:
fear not,
for I
am with thee,
and will bless thee,
and multiply thy
seed
for my servant Abraham's sake.
And,
behold,
the LORD
stood above it,
and said,
I am the LORD God
of Abraham
thy father,
and the God
of Isaac:
the land whereon
thou liest,
to thee
will
I give it,
and to thy seed;
And,
behold,
I am with thee,
and will keep thee
in all places whither
thou goest,
and will bring thee
again into this land;
for I
will not leave thee,
until I
have done that
which I
have spoken to thee of.
And the LORD
said
unto Jacob,
Return
unto the land
of thy fathers,
and to thy kindred;
and
I will be
with thee.
And God
said
unto Jacob, Arise,
go up to Bethel,
and dwell there:
and make there
an altar
unto God,
that appeared
unto thee
when
thou fleddest from the face
of Esau thy brother.
And
he built there
an altar,
and called
the place Elbethel:
because
there God
appeared unto him,
when
he fled
from the face
of his brother.
And God
spake unto Israel
in the visions
of the night,
and said,
Jacob, Jacob.
And he said,
Here am I.
And he said,
I am God,
the God
of thy father:
fear
not
to go down
into Egypt;
for I
will there make
of thee
a great nation:
I will go down
with thee
into Egypt;
and
I will also surely bring thee
up again:
and Joseph
shall put
his hand
upon thine eyes.
Now Moses
kept
the flock
of Jethro
his father
in law,
the priest
of Midian:
and he
led
the flock
to the backside
of the desert,
and came
to the mountain
of God,
even to Horeb.
And Moses
answered
and said,
But,
behold,
they will not believe me,
nor hearken
unto my voice:
for they
will say,
The LORD
hath not appeared
unto thee.
And it
came
to pass,
as Moses
entered
into the tabernacle,
the cloudy
pillar descended,
and stood
at the door
of the tabernacle,
and the Lord
talked
with Moses.
And the LORD
spake unto Moses
face to face,
as a man
speaketh unto his friend.
And
he turned again
into the camp:
but his servant Joshua,
the son of Nun,
a young man,
departed not
out of the tabernacle.
And he
was there
with the LORD forty days
and forty nights;
he did neither
eat bread,
nor drink water.
And
he wrote upon the tables
the words
of the covenant,
the ten commandments.
With him will
I speak
mouth to mouth,
even apparently,
and
not in dark speeches;
and
the similitude
of the LORD
shall
he behold:
wherefore
then were
ye not afraid
to speak
against my servant Moses?
Now after the death
of Moses
the servant
of the LORD
it came to pass,
that the LORD
spake unto Joshua
the son of Nun,
Moses' minister,
saying,
Moses my servant
is dead;
now therefore arise,
go over this Jordan,
thou,
and all this people,
unto the land
which I
do give
to them,
even to
the children
of Israel.
Every
place
that the sole
of your foot
shall tread upon,
that have
I given unto you,
as I said
unto Moses.
From the wilderness
and this Lebanon
even unto the great river,
the river Euphrates,
all the land
of the Hittites,
and
unto the great sea
toward the going down
of the sun,
shall be
your coast.
There shall not
any man
be able
to stand
before thee all
the days
of thy life:
as I
was with Moses,
so I
will be
with thee:
I will not fail thee,
nor forsake thee.
Be strong and
of a good courage:
for unto this people
shalt
thou divide
for an inheritance the land,
which I
sware unto their fathers
to give them.
Only be
thou strong
and very courageous,
that thou
mayest observe
to do according to all the law,
which Moses
my servant commanded thee:
turn not from it
to the right hand
or
to the left,
that thou
mayest prosper withersoever thou goest.
This book
of the law
shall not depart
out of thy mouth;
but
thou shalt meditate
therein day and night,
that thou
mayest observe to do
according to all that is written
therein:
for then
thou shalt make
thy way prosperous,
and
then
thou shalt have
good success.
Have not
I commanded thee?
Be strong and
of a good courage;
be not afraid,
neither be
thou dismayed:
for the LORD
thy God
is with thee
whithersoever
thou goest.
And the LORD
said
unto Joshua, See,
I have given
into thine hand Jericho,
and the king
thereof,
and the mighty men
of valour.
And
ye shall compass
the city,
all
ye men
of war,
and go round
about the city once.
Thus shalt thou
do six days.
And seven priests
shall bear
before the ark seven trumpets
of rams' horns:
and the seventh day
ye
shall compass
the city seven times,
and the priests
shall blow
with the trumpets.
And it
shall come
to pass,
that when
they make
a long blast
with the ram's horn,
and
when
ye hear
the sound
of the trumpet,
all the people
shall shout
with a great shout;
and the wall
of the city
shall fall down flat,
and the people
shall ascend
up every man straight
before him.
And the LORD
said
unto Joshua,
Get thee up;
wherefore liest
thou thus
upon thy face?
Israel hath sinned,
and
they have also transgressed
my covenant which
I commanded them:
for they
have even taken
of the accursed thing,
and have also stolen,
and dissembled also,
and
they have put it even
among their own stuff.
Therefore the children
of Israel
could not stand
before their enemies,
but turned
their backs
before their enemies,
because
they were accursed:
neither will
I be
with you any more,
except ye
destroy
the accursed from
among you.
Up,
sanctify the people,
and say,
Sanctify yourselves
against
to morrow:
for thus
saith the LORD God
of Israel,
There
is
an accursed thing
in the midst
of thee,
O Israel:
thou canst
not stand
before thine enemies,
until ye
take away
the accursed thing from
among you.
In the morning
therefore ye
shall be brought according to
your tribes:
and it
shall be,
that the tribe
which the LORD taketh
shall come according to
the families
thereof;
and the family which the LORD
shall take
shall come
by households;
and the household
which the LORD
shall take
shall come man by man.
And it
shall be,
that he
that is taken
with the accursed thing
shall be burnt
with fire,
he and all
that
he hath:
because
he hath transgressed
the covenant
of the LORD,
and
because
he hath wrought folly
in Israel.
And the LORD
said
unto Joshua,
Fear not,
neither be
thou dismayed:
take all
the people
of war with thee,
and arise,
go up to Ai:
see,
I have given
into thy hand
the king of Ai,
and his people,
and his city,
and his land:
And
thou shalt do
to Ai
and her king
as thou
didst unto Jericho
and her king:
only the spoil
thereof,
and the cattle
thereof,
shall
ye take
for a prey
unto yourselves:
lay thee an ambush
for the city
behind it.
The LORD
also spake
unto Joshua,
saying,
Speak
to the children
of Israel,
saying,
Appoint out
for you cities
of refuge,
whereof
I spake unto you
by the hand
of Moses:
That the slayer
that killeth any person unawares
and unwittingly may flee thither:
and
they shall be your refuge
from the avenger
of blood.
And
when
he that
doth flee unto one
of those cities
shall stand
at the entering
of the gate
of the city,
and shall declare
his cause
in the ears
of the elders
of that city,
they shall take him
into the city
unto them,
and give him
a place,
that he
may dwell among them.
And
if the avenger
of blood
pursue
after him,
then
they shall not deliver
the slayer up
into his hand;
because
he smote
his neighbour
unwittingly,
and hated him
not beforetime.
And
he shall dwell
in that city,
until he
stand
before the congregation
for judgment,
and
until the death
of the high priest
that shall be
in those days:
then shall
the slayer return,
and come
unto his own city,
and
unto his own house,
unto the city
from whence he fled.
And there came
an angel
of the LORD,
and sat
under an oak
which was in Ophrah,
that pertained
unto Joash the Abiezrite:
and his son Gideon
threshed wheat
by the winepress,
to hide it
from the Midianites.
And
the angel
of the LORD
appeared unto him,
and
said unto him,
The LORD
is with thee,
thou mighty man
of valour.
And Gideon
said unto him,
Oh my Lord,
if the LORD
be with us,
why then
is all
this befallen us?
and where
be all
his miracles
which our fathers
told us of,
saying,
Did not
the LORD
bring us up
from Egypt?
but now
the LORD
hath forsaken us,
and delivered us
into the hands
of the Midianites.
And the LORD
looked upon him,
and said,
Go in
this thy might,
and
thou shalt save Israel
from the hand
of the Midianites:
have not
I sent thee?
And
he said unto him,
Oh my Lord,
wherewith shall
I save Israel?
behold,
my family
is poor in Manasseh,
and
I am the least
in my father's house.
And the LORD
said unto him,
Surely I
will be
with thee,
and
thou shalt smite
the Midianites
as one man.
And
he said unto him,
If now
I have found
grace in thy sight,
then shew me
a sign
that thou
talkest with me.
Depart not hence,
I pray thee,
until I come
unto thee,
and bring forth
my present,
and set it
before thee.
And he said,
I will tarry until
thou come again.
And Gideon went in,
and made ready a kid,
and unleavened cakes
of an ephah
of flour:
the flesh
he put in
a basket,
and he put
the broth
in a pot,
and brought it out
unto him
under the oak,
and presented it.
And
the angel
of God
said unto him,
Take the flesh
and the unleavened cakes,
and lay them
upon this rock,
and pour
out the broth.
And he
did so.
Then the angel
of the LORD
put forth
the end
of the staff
that was in his hand,
and touched
the flesh
and the unleavened cakes;
and there rose
up fire
out of the rock,
and consumed
the flesh
and the unleavened cakes.
Then
the angel
of the LORD
departed
out of his sight.
And when Gideon
perceived
that he
was an angel
of the LORD,
Gideon said,
Alas, O LORD God!
for because
I have seen
an angel
of the LORD face to face.
And the LORD
said unto him,
Peace
be
unto thee;
fear not:
thou shalt not die.
Then Gideon
built
an altar
there unto the LORD,
and called
it Jehovahshalom:
unto this day
it is yet in Ophrah
of the Abiezrites.
In Gibeon
the LORD
appeared
to Solomon
in a dream
by night:
and God said,
Ask
what
I shall give thee.
And Solomon said,
Thou
hast shewed
unto thy servant David
my father great mercy,
according as he
walked
before thee
in truth,
and
in righteousness,
and
in uprightness
of heart
with thee;
and
thou hast kept
for him this great kindness,
that thou
hast given him a son
to sit
on his throne,
as it is this day.
And now,
O LORD my God,
thou hast made
thy servant king
instead of David my father:
and I
am
but a little child:
I know not
how to go out
or come in.
And thy servant
is in the midst
of thy people which
thou hast chosen,
a great people,
that cannot be numbered
nor counted
for multitude.
Give therefore
thy servant
an understanding heart
to judge thy people,
that I
may discern
between good
and bad:
for who
is able
to judge
this thy so great
a people?
And the speech pleased
the LORD,
that Solomon
had asked
this thing.
And God
said unto him,
Because
thou hast asked
this thing,
and hast not asked for
thyself long life;
neither hast asked riches
for thyself,
nor hast asked
the life
of thine enemies;
but hast asked for
thyself
understanding
to discern judgment;
Behold,
I have done according to
thy words:
lo,
I have given thee a wise
and an understanding heart;
so that
there was none like thee
before thee,
neither after thee
shall
any arise like
unto thee.
And
I have also given thee
that which
thou hast not asked,
both riches,
and honour:
so that
there shall not be any
among the kings like
unto thee all
thy days.
And
if thou
wilt walk
in my ways,
to keep
my statutes
and my commandments,
as thy
father David
did walk,
then
I will lengthen
thy days.
In that night
did
God appear
unto Solomon,
and
said unto him,
Ask
what
I shall give thee.
And Solomon
said
unto God,
Thou hast shewed great mercy
unto David my father,
and hast made me
to reign
in his stead.
Now,
O LORD God,
let thy
promise
unto David
my father
be established:
for thou
hast made me
king
over a people like
the dust
of the earth
in multitude.
Give me now wisdom
and knowledge,
that I
may go out
and come in
before this people:
for who
can judge this
thy people,
that is so great?
And God
said
to Solomon,
Because this
was in thine heart,
and
thou hast not asked riches,
wealth,
or honour,
nor the life
of thine enemies,
neither yet hast asked
long life;
but hast asked wisdom
and knowledge
for thyself,
that thou
mayest judge
my people,
over whom
I have made
thee king:
Wisdom
and knowledge
is granted
unto thee;
and
I will give thee riches,
and wealth,
and honour,
such as
none of the kings
have had
that
have been
before thee,
neither shall there
any after thee
have the like.
I will bless
the LORD,
who hath given me counsel:
my reins
also instruct me
in the night seasons.
And
I will pray
the Father,
and
he shall give you
another Comforter,
that he
may abide
with you
for ever;
Even the Spirit
of truth;
whom
the world
cannot receive,
because
it seeth him not,
neither knoweth him:
but ye
know him;
for he
dwelleth with you,
and shall be
in you.
I will not leave
you comfortless:
I will come
to you.
Jesus
answered
and
said unto him,
If a man
love me,
he will keep
my words:
and my Father
will love him,
and
we will come unto him,
and make
our abode
with him.
The cup
of blessing
which we bless,
is it
not the communion
of the blood
of Christ?
The bread
which we break,
is it
not the communion
of the body
of Christ?
And
what agreement
hath the temple
of God
with idols?
for ye are
the temple
of the living God;
as God
hath said,
I will dwell in them,
and walk in them;
and
I will be
their God,
and
they shall be
my people.
The grace
of the Lord Jesus Christ,
and the love
of God,
and the communion
of the Holy Ghost,
be with you all.
Amen.
And
because
ye are sons,
God hath sent
forth the Spirit
of his Son
into your hearts,
crying,
Abba, Father.
If there be therefore any consolation
in Christ,
if any comfort
of love,
if any fellowship
of the Spirit,
if any bowels
and mercies,
Fulfil ye
my joy,
that ye
be likeminded,
having the same love,
being
of one accord,
of one mind.
That which
we have seen
and heard
declare
we unto you,
that ye
also may have fellowship
with us:
and truly
our fellowship
is with the Father,
and
with his Son Jesus Christ.
Behold,
I stand
at the door,
and knock:
if any man
hear my voice,
and open
the door,
I will come in
to him,
and
will sup with him,
and he with me.
