I call heaven
and earth
to record
this day
against you,
that I
have set
before you life
and death,
blessing and cursing:
therefore choose life,
that both
thou and thy
seed
may live:
Only be
thou strong
and very courageous,
that thou
mayest observe
to do according to all the law,
which Moses
my servant commanded thee:
turn not from it
to the right hand
or
to the left,
that thou
mayest prosper withersoever thou goest.
And
if it
seem evil
unto you
to serve the LORD,
choose you this day whom
ye will serve;
whether the gods
which your fathers
served
that were on the other side
of the flood,
or the gods
of the Amorites,
in whose land
ye dwell:
but as for me and
my house,
we will serve
the LORD.
And Samuel
said
unto the people,
Fear not:
ye have done all
this wickedness:
yet turn not
aside from following the LORD,
but serve
the LORD
with all your heart;
And Elijah
came
unto all
the people,
and said,
How long
halt
ye between two opinions?
if the LORD
be God,
follow him:
but if Baal,
then follow him.
And the people
answered him not
a word.
Ponder the path
of thy feet,
and let all
thy ways
be established.
Turn not
to the right hand nor
to the left:
remove
thy foot
from evil.
No man
can serve
two masters:
for either
he will hate
the one,
and love
the other;
or else
he will hold
to the one,
and despise
the other.
Ye cannot serve God
and mammon.
He that is not
with me is against me;
and he
that gathereth not
with me
scattereth abroad.
He that is not
with me is against me:
and he
that gathereth not
with me scattereth.
Now
when the congregation
was broken up,
many of the Jews
and religious proselytes
followed Paul
and Barnabas:
who,
speaking to them,
persuaded them
to continue
in the grace
of God.
Behold therefore the goodness
and severity
of God:
on them
which fell,
severity;
but toward thee,
goodness,
if thou
continue
in his goodness:
otherwise
thou also shalt be cut off.
Stand
fast
therefore in the liberty
wherewith Christ
hath made us free,
and be not entangled again
with the yoke
of bondage.
But thou,
O man of God,
flee these things;
and follow
after righteousness,
godliness,
faith,
love,
patience,
meekness.
Blessed is the man
that endureth temptation:
for when
he is tried,
he shall receive the crown
of life,
which the Lord
hath promised
to them that love him.
But
whoso looketh
into the perfect law
of liberty,
and continueth
therein,
he being not
a forgetful hearer,
but a doer
of the work,
this man
shall be blessed
in his deed.
