Honour
thy father
and thy mother:
that thy days
may be long
upon the land
which the LORD thy God
giveth thee.
And
he that
smiteth his father,
or his mother,
shall be surely put
to death.
And
he that
curseth his father,
or his mother,
shall surely be put
to death.
And these words,
which I
command thee
this day,
shall be
in thine heart:
And
thou shalt teach them
diligently unto thy children,
and shalt talk
of them
when thou
sittest in thine house,
and when thou
walkest by the way,
and
when
thou liest down,
and
when
thou
risest up.
And
thou shalt bind them
for a sign
upon thine hand,
and they
shall be
as frontlets
between thine eyes.
And
thou shalt write them
upon the posts
of thy house,
and on thy gates.
Observe
and hear all
these words
which I
command thee,
that it
may go well
with thee,
and with thy children
after thee for ever,
when thou
doest
that which
is good
and right
in the sight
of the LORD thy God.
But
the mercy
of the LORD
is from everlasting to everlasting
upon them that fear him,
and his righteousness
unto children's children;
Lo,
children are an heritage
of the LORD:
and
the fruit
of the womb is his reward.
My son,
hear the instruction
of thy father,
and forsake not
the law
of thy mother:
Hear,
ye children,
the instruction
of a father,
and attend
to know understanding.
My son,
keep thy father's commandment,
and forsake not
the law
of thy mother:
The proverbs
of Solomon.
A wise son
maketh a glad father:
but a foolish son
is the heaviness
of his mother.
A wise son heareth
his father's instruction:
but a scorner heareth
not rebuke.
A good man
leaveth
an inheritance
to his children's children:
and
the wealth
of the sinner
is laid up
for the just.
A wise son
maketh a glad father:
but a foolish man
despiseth his mother.
Children's children
are the crown
of old men;
and the glory
of children
are their fathers.
A foolish son
is a grief
to his father,
and bitterness
to her that bare him.
The just man
walketh in his integrity:
his children
are blessed
after him.
Whoso
curseth
his father
or his mother,
his lamp
shall be put out
in obscure darkness.
Train up a child
in the way
he should go:
and
when he
is old,
he will not depart
from it.
Hearken unto thy
father that
begat thee,
and despise not thy
mother
when
she is old.
The father
of the righteous
shall greatly rejoice:
and he
that begetteth
a wise child
shall have
joy of him.
The eye that
mocketh at his father,
and despiseth to obey
his mother,
the ravens
of the valley
shall pick it out,
and the young eagles
shall eat it.
Whosoever therefore shall
humble himself
as this little child,
the same
is greatest
in the kingdom
of heaven.
And
whoso
shall receive
one
such little child
in my name
receiveth me.
Take heed that
ye despise not one
of these little ones;
for I
say unto you,
That in heaven
their angels
do always behold the face
of my Father
which is in heaven.
But Jesus said,
Suffer little children,
and forbid them not,
to come unto me:
for of such
is the kingdom
of heaven.
And he
took
them up
in his arms,
put his hands
upon them,
and blessed them.
Children,
obey your parents
in the Lord:
for this is right.
And,
ye fathers,
provoke not your children
to wrath:
but bring them up
in the nurture
and admonition
of the Lord.
Children,
obey your parents
in all things:
for this
is well pleasing
unto the Lord.
Fathers,
provoke not your children
to anger,
lest
they be discouraged.
Let
no man
despise thy youth;
but be
thou an example
of the believers,
in word,
in conversation,
in charity,
in spirit,
in faith,
in purity.
