Thou shalt not take
the name
of the LORD
thy God in vain;
for the LORD
will not hold him guiltless
that taketh
his name
in vain.
And
ye shall not swear
by my name falsely,
neither shalt thou
profane the name
of thy God:
I am the LORD.
Neither shall
ye profane my holy name;
but
I will be hallowed
among the children
of Israel:
I am the LORD
which hallow you,
And the Israelitish
woman's son
blasphemed
the name
of the Lord,
and cursed.
And
they brought him
unto Moses:
(and his mother's name
was Shelomith,
the daughter
of Dibri,
of the tribe
of Dan:)
And
they put him
in ward,
that the mind
of the LORD
might be shewed them.
And the LORD
spake unto Moses,
saying,
Bring forth him
that hath cursed
without the camp;
and let all
that heard him
lay
their hands
upon his head,
and let all
the congregation
stone him.
And
thou shalt speak
unto the children
of Israel,
saying,
Whosoever
curseth
his God
shall bear
his sin.
And
he that
blasphemeth
the name
of the LORD,
he shall surely be put
to death,
and all
the congregation
shall certainly stone him:
as well the stranger,
as he
that is born
in the land,
when
he blasphemeth
the name
of the Lord,
shall be put
to death.
Thou shalt not take
the name
of the LORD
thy God in vain:
for the LORD
will not hold him guiltless
that taketh
his name
in vain.
Howbeit,
because by this deed
thou hast given great occasion
to the enemies
of the LORD
to blaspheme,
the child
also that is born
unto thee
shall surely die.
Whom hast
thou reproached
and blasphemed?
and
against whom hast
thou exalted
thy voice,
and lifted
up thine
eyes on high?
even against the Holy One
of Israel.
And
they spake against the God
of Jerusalem,
as against the gods
of the people
of the earth,
which were the work
of the hands
of man.
Then said
his wife
unto him,
Dost thou
still retain
thine integrity?
curse God,
and die.
Remember this,
that the enemy
hath reproached,
O LORD,
and
that the foolish people
have blasphemed
thy name.
Yea,
they spake against God;
they said,
Can God
furnish a table
in the wilderness?
For they
speak
against thee wickedly,
and thine enemies
take thy
name
in vain.
Remove far
from me vanity
and lies:
give me neither poverty
nor riches;
feed me
with food convenient
for me:
Lest
I be full,
and deny thee,
and say,
Who is the LORD?
or lest
I be poor,
and steal,
and take
the name
of my God
in vain.
And
they shall pass
through it,
hardly bestead
and hungry:
and it
shall come
to pass,
that when
they shall be hungry,
they shall fret themselves,
and curse
their king
and their God,
and look upward.
Whom hast
thou reproached
and blasphemed?
and
against whom hast
thou exalted
thy voice,
and lifted
up thine
eyes on high?
even against the Holy One
of Israel.
Woe unto him that
striveth with his Maker!
Let the potsherd strive
with the potsherds
of the earth.
Shall
the clay
say
to him
that fashioneth it,
What makest thou?
or thy work,
He hath
no hands?
Now therefore,
what have I here,
saith the LORD,
that my people
is taken away
for nought?
they that rule
over them make them
to howl,
saith the LORD;
and my name
continually every day
is blasphemed.
Your iniquities,
and the iniquities
of your fathers
together,
saith the LORD,
which have burned
incense
upon the mountains,
and blasphemed me
upon the hills:
therefore will
I measure
their former work
into their bosom.
Therefore,
son of man,
speak
unto the house
of Israel,
and
say unto them,
Thus saith the Lord GOD;
Yet in this
your fathers
have blasphemed me,
in that
they have committed
a trespass
against me.
And
thou shalt know
that I
am the LORD,
and that
I have heard all
thy blasphemies which
thou hast spoken
against the mountains
of Israel,
saying,
They are laid desolate,
they are given us
to consume.
Thus
with your mouth
ye have boasted against me,
and have multiplied
your words
against me:
I have heard them.
Woe unto them!
for they have fled from me:
destruction
unto them!
because
they
have transgressed against me:
though I
have redeemed them,
yet
they have spoken
lies against me.
I will bring it forth,
saith the LORD
of hosts,
and it
shall enter into the house
of the thief,
and
into the house
of him that
sweareth falsely
by my name:
and it
shall remain in the midst
of his house,
and shall consume it
with the timber
thereof
and the stones
thereof.
It is enough
for the disciple
that
he be
as his master,
and the servant
as his lord.
If they
have called
the master
of the house Beelzebub,
how much more
shall
they call them
of his household?
Wherefore
I say unto you,
All manner
of sin
and blasphemy
shall be forgiven
unto men:
but
the blasphemy
against the Holy Ghost
shall not be forgiven
unto men.
And whosoever
speaketh
a word
against the Son
of man,
it shall be forgiven him:
but whosoever
speaketh against the Holy Ghost,
it shall not be forgiven him,
neither in this world,
neither in the world
to come.
Then began
he to curse and
to swear,
saying,
I know not
the man.
And immediately
the cock crew.
But
he that
shall blaspheme
against the Holy Ghost
hath never
forgiveness,
but is in danger
of eternal damnation.
Because
they said,
He hath
an unclean spirit.
For from within,
out of the heart
of men,
proceed evil thoughts,
adulteries,
fornications,
murders,
Thefts,
covetousness,
wickedness,
deceit,
lasciviousness,
an evil eye,
blasphemy,
pride,
foolishness:
But
he began to curse
and
to swear,
saying,
I know not
this man of whom
ye speak.
And whosoever
shall speak
a word
against the Son
of man,
it shall be forgiven him:
but unto him that
blasphemeth against the Holy Ghost
it shall not be forgiven.
And
I punished them oft
in every synagogue,
and compelled them
to blaspheme;
and being exceedingly mad
against them,
I persecuted them even
unto strange cities.
For the name
of God
is blasphemed
among the Gentiles
through you,
as it is written.
Wherefore
I give you
to understand,
that no man
speaking
by the Spirit
of God calleth Jesus accursed:
and that no man
can say
that Jesus
is the Lord,
but by the Holy Ghost.
But
now
ye also put off all these;
anger,
wrath,
malice,
blasphemy,
filthy communication
out of your mouth.
Who was before a blasphemer,
and a persecutor,
and injurious:
but
I obtained mercy,
because
I did it
ignorantly in unbelief.
Of whom is Hymenaeus
and Alexander;
whom
I have delivered
unto Satan,
that they
may learn not
to blaspheme.
For men
shall be lovers
of their own selves,
covetous,
boasters,
proud,
blasphemers,
disobedient
to parents,
unthankful,
unholy,
Of how much
sorer punishment,
suppose ye,
shall
he be thought worthy,
who hath trodden
under foot
the Son
of God,
and hath counted
the blood
of the covenant,
wherewith
he was sanctified,
an unholy thing,
and hath done despite
unto the Spirit
of grace?
Do not
they blaspheme
that worthy name
by the which
ye are called?
Out of the same mouth
proceedeth
blessing and cursing.
My brethren,
these things
ought not so to be.
But above all things,
my brethren,
swear not,
neither by heaven,
neither by the earth,
neither by any other oath:
but let
your yea
be yea;
and your nay,
nay;
lest
ye fall
into condemnation.
I know thy works,
and tribulation,
and poverty,
(but thou art rich)
and I
know
the blasphemy
of them which
say
they are Jews,
and are not,
but are the synagogue
of Satan.
And I
stood
upon the sand
of the sea,
and saw
a beast rise up
out of the sea,
having seven heads
and ten horns,
and
upon his horns ten crowns,
and
upon his heads
the name
of blasphemy.
And there was given
unto him a mouth
speaking great things
and blasphemies;
and power
was given
unto him to continue forty
and two months.
And he
opened
his mouth
in blasphemy
against God,
to blaspheme his name,
and his tabernacle,
and them that
dwell
in heaven.
And men
were scorched
with great heat,
and blasphemed
the name of God,
which hath
power
over these plagues:
and
they repented not
to give him glory.
And blasphemed
the God
of heaven
because
of their pains
and their sores,
and repented not
of their deeds.
And there fell
upon men
a great hail
out of heaven,
every stone
about the weight
of a talent:
and men
blasphemed God
because of the plague
of the hail;
for the plague
thereof was exceeding great.
So he
carried me away
in the spirit
into the wilderness:
and I
saw
a woman
sit
upon a scarlet coloured beast,
full of names
of blasphemy,
having seven heads
and ten horns.
