For I
will pour
water upon him that is thirsty,
and floods
upon the dry ground:
I will pour
my spirit
upon thy seed,
and my blessing
upon thine offspring:
And it
shall come
to pass afterward,
that I
will pour out my spirit
upon all flesh;
and your sons
and your daughters
shall prophesy,
your old men
shall dream dreams,
your young men
shall see visions:
And also upon the servants
and upon the handmaids
in those days
will
I pour
out my spirit.
And
I will pour upon the house
of David,
and
upon the inhabitants
of Jerusalem,
the spirit
of grace
and of supplications:
and
they shall look
upon me whom
they have pierced,
and
they
shall mourn for him,
as one
mourneth for his only son,
and shall be
in bitterness
for him,
as one
that is
in bitterness
for his firstborn.
I indeed baptize you
with water
unto repentance.
but he
that cometh
after me
is mightier
than I,
whose shoes
I am not worthy
to bear:
he shall baptize you
with the Holy Ghost,
and with fire:
And Jesus,
when
he was baptized,
went up straightway out of the water:
and,
lo,
the heavens
were opened unto him,
and he
saw the Spirit
of God
descending like
a dove,
and
lighting upon him:
I indeed have baptized you
with water:
but
he shall baptize you
with the Holy Ghost.
John answered,
saying unto them all,
I indeed baptize you
with water;
but
one mightier than
I cometh,
the latchet
of whose shoes
I am not worthy
to unloose:
he shall baptize
you with the Holy Ghost
and with fire:
And the Holy Ghost
descended in a
bodily shape like
a dove
upon him,
and a voice
came
from heaven,
which said,
Thou art
my beloved Son;
in thee
I am well pleased.
And,
behold,
I send
the promise
of my Father
upon you:
but tarry
ye in the city
of Jerusalem,
until ye
be endued with
power from
on high.
And John bare record,
saying,
I saw
the Spirit descending
from heaven like
a dove,
and it abode
upon him.
And
I knew him not:
but he
that sent me
to baptize
with water,
the same said
unto me,
Upon whom
thou shalt see
the Spirit descending,
and
remaining on him,
the same
is he which
baptizeth with the Holy Ghost.
Jesus answered,
Verily,
verily,
I say unto thee,
Except a man
be born
of water
and of the Spirit,
he cannot enter into the kingdom
of God.
For John
truly baptized
with water;
but
ye shall be baptized
with the Holy Ghost not
many days hence.
And
when the day
of Pentecost
was fully come,
they were all with one accord
in one place.
And suddenly there came
a sound
from heaven
as of a
rushing mighty wind,
and it
filled all
the house
where they
were sitting.
And there appeared
unto them cloven tongues like as
of fire,
and it
sat
upon each
of them.
And
they were all filled
with the Holy Ghost,
and began
to speak
with other tongues,
as the Spirit
gave them utterance.
Then Peter
said unto them,
Repent,
and be baptized every one
of you
in the name
of Jesus Christ
for the remission
of sins,
and
ye shall receive
the gift
of the Holy Ghost.
Who,
when
they
were come down,
prayed for them,
that they
might receive
the Holy Ghost:
(For as yet
he was fallen
upon none of them:
only they
were baptized
in the name
of the Lord Jesus.)
Then laid
they their hands
on them,
and
they received
the Holy Ghost.
And
when Simon
saw
that through laying on
of the apostles'
hands
the Holy Ghost
was given,
he offered them money,
How God
anointed Jesus
of Nazareth
with the Holy Ghost
and with power:
who went
about doing good,
and healing all
that
were oppressed
of the devil;
for God
was with him.
While Peter
yet spake
these words,
the Holy Ghost
fell on all
them which heard
the word.
And
they
of the circumcision
which believed
were astonished,
as many as
came with Peter,
because
that on the Gentiles
also was poured out the gift
of the Holy Ghost.
Can any man
forbid water,
that these
should not be baptized,
which have received
the Holy Ghost
as well as we?
And as I
began to speak,
the Holy Ghost
fell on them,
as on us
at the beginning.
Then remembered
I the word
of the Lord,
how that
he said,
John
indeed baptized
with water;
but
ye shall be baptized
with the Holy Ghost.
He said unto them,
Have
ye received
the Holy Ghost
since ye believed?
And
they
said unto him,
We have not
so much as heard
whether there be any Holy Ghost.
For by one Spirit
are
we all baptized
into one body,
whether we
be Jews
or Gentiles,
whether we
be bond or free;
and have been all made
to drink
into one Spirit.
Not by works
of righteousness
which we
have done,
but according to
his mercy
he saved us,
by the washing
of regeneration,
and renewing
of the Holy Ghost;
