And
when the people
saw that Moses
delayed to
come down
out of the mount,
the people
gathered themselves
together
unto Aaron,
and
said unto him,
Up,
make us gods,
which shall go
before us;
for as
for this Moses,
the man that
brought us up
out of the land
of Egypt,
we wot not
what
is become of him.
And Samuel
said
unto Saul,
I will not return
with thee:
for thou
hast rejected
the word
of the LORD,
and the LORD
hath rejected thee
from being king
over Israel.
And Saul
was afraid
of David,
because
the LORD
was with him,
and was departed
from Saul.
And thou,
Solomon my son,
know
thou the God
of thy father,
and serve him
with a perfect heart
and
with a willing mind:
for the LORD
searcheth all hearts,
and understandeth all
the imaginations
of the thoughts:
if thou
seek him,
he will be found
of thee;
but
if thou
forsake him,
he will cast thee off
for ever.
And the destruction
of the transgressors
and of the sinners
shall be together,
and they that
forsake the LORD
shall be consumed.
But
ye are they that
forsake the LORD,
that forget
my holy mountain,
that prepare
a table
for that troop,
and
that furnish
the drink
offering
unto that number.
Therefore will
I number you
to the sword,
and
ye shall all bow down
to the slaughter:
because
when I called,
ye did not answer;
when I spake,
ye did not hear;
but did evil
before mine eyes,
and did choose that
wherein I
delighted not.
Thus saith the LORD;
Cursed
be the man
that trusteth in man,
and maketh flesh his arm,
and whose heart
departeth from the LORD.
For he
shall be like
the heath
in the desert,
and shall not see
when good cometh;
but shall inhabit
the parched
places
in the wilderness,
in a salt land
and not inhabited.
And then
shall
many be offended,
and shall betray one
another,
and shall hate one
another.
Then one
of the twelve,
called Judas Iscariot,
went unto the chief priests,
And
said unto them,
What
will
ye give me,
and
I will deliver him
unto you?
And
they covenanted
with him
for thirty pieces
of silver.
And
from that time
he sought opportunity
to betray him.
But
when Jesus
saw it,
he was
much displeased,
and
said unto them,
Suffer the little children
to come unto me,
and forbid them not:
for of such
is the kingdom
of God.
They on the rock
are they,
which,
when they hear,
receive the word
with joy;
and these
have
no root,
which for a
while believe,
and
in time
of temptation
fall away.
And
he went his way,
and communed
with the chief priests
and captains,
how he
might betray him unto them.
From that time
many of his disciples went back,
and walked no more
with him.
Who goeth
a warfare any time
at his own charges?
who planteth a vineyard,
and eateth not
of the fruit
thereof?
or who
feedeth a flock,
and eateth not
of the milk
of the flock?
Let no man
deceive you
by any means:
for that day
shall not come,
except there come
a falling
away first,
and
that man
of sin
be revealed,
the son
of perdition;
Holding faith,
and a good conscience;
which some
having put away concerning
faith have made
shipwreck:
Of whom is Hymenaeus
and Alexander;
whom
I have delivered
unto Satan,
that they
may learn not
to blaspheme.
Now the Spirit
speaketh expressly,
that in the latter times
some shall depart
from the faith,
giving
heed
to seducing spirits,
and doctrines
of devils;
Take heed,
brethren,
lest
there be
in any
of you an evil heart
of unbelief,
in departing
from the living God.
For it
is impossible
for those
who were once enlightened,
and have tasted
of the heavenly gift,
and were made partakers
of the Holy Ghost,
And have tasted
the good word
of God,
and the powers
of the world
to come,
If they
shall fall away,
to renew them again
unto repentance;
seeing
they
crucify
to themselves the Son
of God afresh,
and put him
to an open shame.
For if we
sin wilfully
after that
we have received
the knowledge
of the truth,
there remaineth
no more
sacrifice
for sins,
But a certain fearful looking for
of judgment
and fiery indignation,
which shall devour
the adversaries.
He that
despised
Moses' law
died
without mercy
under two
or three witnesses:
Of how much
sorer punishment,
suppose ye,
shall
he be thought worthy,
who hath trodden
under foot
the Son
of God,
and hath counted
the blood
of the covenant,
wherewith
he was sanctified,
an unholy thing,
and hath done despite
unto the Spirit
of grace?
For if after they
have escaped the pollutions
of the world
through the knowledge
of the Lord
and Saviour Jesus Christ,
they are again entangled
therein,
and overcome,
the latter end
is worse
with them than the beginning.
For it
had been
better
for them not
to have known the way
of righteousness,
than,
after they
have known it,
to turn
from the holy commandment
delivered unto them.
Ye therefore,
beloved,
seeing
ye know
these things
before,
beware lest
ye also,
being led away
with the error
of the wicked,
fall
from your own stedfastness.
I will therefore put you
in remembrance,
though ye
once knew this,
how that
the Lord,
having saved the people
out of the land
of Egypt,
afterward destroyed them
that believed not.
