And
she caught him
by his garment,
saying,
Lie with me:
and he
left
his garment
in her hand,
and fled,
and
got him out.
Thou shalt not commit
adultery.
And
if a man
entice a maid
that is not betrothed,
and lie with her,
he shall surely endow her
to be his wife.
If her father
utterly refuse
to give her
unto him,
he shall pay money
according to
the dowry
of virgins.
Moreover thou
shalt not lie carnally
with thy
neighbour's wife,
to defile thyself
with her.
And whosoever
lieth carnally
with a woman,
that is
a bondmaid,
betrothed
to an husband,
and not at all redeemed,
nor freedom
given her;
she shall be scourged;
they shall not be put
to death,
because
she was not free.
Do not prostitute
thy daughter,
to cause her
to be a whore;
lest the land fall
to whoredom,
and the land
become full of wickedness.
And the man
that committeth adultery
with another man's wife,
even
he that
committeth adultery
with his neighbour's wife,
the adulterer
and the adulteress
shall surely be put
to death.
And the man
that lieth
with his father's wife
hath uncovered
his father's nakedness:
both of them shall surely be put
to death;
their blood
shall be upon them.
And
if a man
lie
with his daughter
in law,
both of them shall surely be put
to death:
they have wrought
confusion;
their blood
shall be upon them.
Neither shalt thou
commit adultery.
If any man
take a wife,
and go in
unto her,
and hate her,
And give
occasions
of speech
against her,
and bring
up an evil name
upon her,
and say,
I took this woman,
and
when I
came
to her,
I found her
not a maid:
Then shall
the father
of the damsel,
and her mother,
take and bring forth
the tokens
of the damsel's virginity
unto the elders
of the city
in the gate:
And the damsel's father
shall say
unto the elders,
I gave
my daughter
unto this man
to wife,
and
he hateth her;
And,
lo,
he hath given
occasions
of speech
against her,
saying,
I found not
thy daughter a maid;
and yet
these are the tokens
of my daughter's virginity.
And
they shall spread
the cloth
before the elders
of the city.
And the elders
of that city
shall take
that man
and chastise him;
And
they shall amerce him
in an hundred shekels
of silver,
and give them
unto the father
of the damsel,
because
he hath brought
up an evil name
upon a virgin
of Israel:
and
she shall be
his wife;
he may not put her
away all his days.
But
if this thing
be true,
and
the tokens
of virginity
be not found
for the damsel:
Then
they shall bring
out the damsel
to the door
of her father's house,
and the men
of her city
shall stone her
with stones
that she die:
because
she hath wrought folly
in Israel,
to play the whore
in her father's house:
so shalt
thou put evil
away from
among you.
If a man
be found
lying
with a woman
married
to an husband,
then
they shall both
of them die,
both the man
that lay
with the woman,
and the woman:
so shalt
thou put away evil
from Israel.
If a damsel
that is
a virgin
be betrothed
unto an husband,
and a man
find her
in the city,
and lie
with her;
Then
ye shall bring them both out
unto the gate
of that city,
and
ye shall stone them
with stones
that they die;
the damsel,
because
she cried not,
being in the city;
and the man,
because
he hath humbled
his neighbour's wife:
so thou
shalt put away evil from
among you.
But
if a man
find a betrothed damsel
in the field,
and the man
force her,
and lie with her:
then the man
only that lay
with her
shall die.
But unto the damsel
thou shalt do
nothing;
there is
in the damsel no
sin worthy
of death:
for as when a man
riseth against his neighbour,
and slayeth him,
even so
is this matter:
For he found her
in the field,
and the betrothed damsel cried,
and there was none
to save her.
If a man
find a damsel
that is
a virgin,
which is not betrothed,
and lay
hold on her,
and lie with her,
and
they be found;
Then the man
that lay
with her
shall give
unto the damsel's father
fifty shekels
of silver,
and
she shall be
his wife;
because
he hath humbled her,
he may not put her
away all his days.
There shall be no whore
of the daughters
of Israel,
nor a sodomite
of the sons
of Israel.
Cursed
be
he that
lieth
with his father's wife;
because
he uncovereth his father's skirt.
And all
the people
shall say,
Amen.
Cursed
be
he that
lieth
with his sister,
the daughter
of his father,
or the daughter
of his mother.
And all
the people
shall say,
Amen.
Cursed
be
he that
lieth
with his mother
in law.
And all
the people
shall say,
Amen.
To deliver thee
from the strange woman,
even from the stranger which
flattereth with her words;
Which forsaketh
the guide
of her youth,
and forgetteth
the covenant
of her God.
For her house
inclineth unto death,
and her paths
unto the dead.
None that
go
unto her return again,
neither take
they hold
of the paths
of life.
For the lips
of a
strange woman
drop
as an honeycomb,
and her mouth
is smoother
than oil:
But her end
is bitter
as wormwood,
sharp
as a two-edged sword.
Her feet
go down to death;
her steps
take hold on hell.
Lest
thou shouldest ponder
the path of life,
her ways
are moveable,
that thou canst
not know them.
Hear me
now therefore,
O ye children,
and depart not
from the words
of my mouth.
Remove thy way far
from her,
and come not nigh
the door
of her house:
Lest
thou give thine
honour
unto others,
and thy years
unto the cruel:
And
why wilt thou,
my son,
be ravished
with a strange woman,
and embrace
the bosom of a stranger?
For the ways
of man
are before the eyes
of the LORD,
and
he pondereth all
his goings.
His own iniquities
shall take
the wicked himself,
and
he shall be holden
with the cords
of his sins.
To keep thee
from the evil woman,
from the flattery
of the tongue
of a strange woman.
Lust not
after her beauty
in thine heart;
neither let her take thee
with her eyelids.
For by means
of a whorish woman a man
is brought
to a piece
of bread:
and the adultress
will hunt
for the precious life.
Can a man
take
fire in his bosom,
and his clothes
not be burned?
Can one
go upon hot coals,
and his feet
not be burned?
So he
that goeth in
to his neighbour's wife;
whosoever
toucheth
her shall not be innocent.
But
whoso committeth adultery
with a woman
lacketh understanding:
he that
doeth
it destroyeth his own soul.

And the LORD
said
to Hosea, Go,
take
unto thee a wife
of whoredoms
and children
of whoredoms:
for the land
hath committed
great whoredom,
departing
from the LORD.
Ye have heard
that it
was said
by them
of old time,
Thou
shalt not commit
adultery:
But
I say unto you,
That whosoever looketh
on a woman
to lust after her
hath committed adultery
with her
already in his heart.
But
I say unto you,
That whosoever
shall put away
his wife,
saving for the cause of fornication,
causeth her
to commit adultery:
and whosoever
shall marry
her that is divorced
committeth adultery.
For out of the heart
proceed evil thoughts,
murders,
adulteries,

false witness,

his wife,

They say unto him,

this woman

in adultery,

Now Moses
in the law
commanded us,
that such
should be stoned:

what sayest thou?
This
they said,
tempting him,
that they
might have to accuse him.
But Jesus
stooped down,
and
with his finger
wrote on the ground,
as though
he heard them not.
So when
they continued
asking him,
he lifted
up himself,
and
said unto them,
He that is
without sin
among you,
let him
first cast
a stone
at her.
And
again
he stooped down,
and wrote on the ground.
And
they which heard it,
being convicted
by their own conscience,
went out one by one,
beginning
at the eldest,
even unto the last:
and Jesus
was left alone,
and the woman
standing
in the midst.
When Jesus
had lifted
up himself,
and saw none
but the woman,
he said unto her,
Woman,
where are
those thine accusers?
hath
no man
condemned thee?
She said,
No man,
Lord.
And Jesus
said
unto her,
Neither
do
I condemn thee:
go,
and sin no more.
So then if,
while her husband liveth,
she be married
to another man,
she shall be called
an adulteress:
but
if her husband
be dead,
she is
free from that law;
so that
she is no adulteress,
though she
be married
to another man.
For this,
Thou
shalt not commit
adultery,
Thou shalt not kill,
Thou shalt not steal,
Thou
shalt not bear
false witness,
Thou shalt not covet;
and
if there be
any other commandment,
it is briefly comprehended
in this saying,
namely,
Thou
shalt love
thy neighbour
as thyself.
But now
I have written
unto you not
to keep company,
if any man
that is called
a brother
be
a fornicator,
or covetous,
or an idolater,
or a railer,
or a drunkard,
or an extortioner;
with such
an one no not
to eat.
Know
ye not
that the unrighteous
shall not inherit
the kingdom
of God?
Be not deceived:
neither fornicators,
nor idolaters,
nor adulterers,
nor effeminate,
nor abusers
of themselves
with mankind,
Nor thieves,
nor covetous,
nor drunkards,
nor revilers,
nor extortioners,
shall inherit
the kingdom
of God.
Meats
for the belly,
and the belly
for meats:
but God
shall destroy
both it and them.
Now the body
is not
for fornication,
but for the Lord;
and the Lord
for the body.
Know
ye not
that your bodies
are the members
of Christ?
shall I
then take
the members
of Christ,
and make them
the members
of an harlot?
God forbid.
What?
know
ye not
that he which
is joined
to an harlot
is one body?
for two,
saith he,
shall be one flesh.
Flee fornication.
Every sin
that a man
doeth
is without the body;
but he
that
committeth
fornication sinneth against his own body.
Now
the works
of the flesh
are manifest,
which are these;
Adultery,
fornication,
uncleanness,
lasciviousness,
Envyings,
murders,
drunkenness,
revellings,
and such like:
of the which
I tell you
before,
as I
have also told you
in time past,
that they
which do
such things
shall not inherit
the kingdom
of God.
But fornication,
and all uncleanness,
or covetousness,
let it
not be once named
among you,
as becometh saints;
For this
ye know,
that no whoremonger,
nor unclean person,
nor covetous man,
who is an idolater,
hath any inheritance
in the kingdom
of Christ
and of God.
Marriage is honourable
in all,
and the bed undefiled:
but whoremongers
and adulterers God
will judge.
